This study aims to suggest the alternative policies and practices which policy makers can introduce and enlarge for work-family balance of employees. For purpose, this study analyzed the regulation of work time and parental leave benefits of employees. And the results of major projects in family friendly support services were examined. Based on these assessment, this study suggested various flexible work arrangements, papa's quota system in parental leaves, various family leaves for family care, establishment of FFSC in every metropolitan area, diversification of consulting project, and enlarging of certification project on family friendly workplace.

Background: The management of dental plaque and the appropriate use of oral hygiene tools are crucial for oral health. With increasing interest in oral health care, various oral hygiene products are available on the market. As the most basic oral hygiene tool, the large-head toothbrush has gained significant consumer interest. This study evaluates the suitability of large-head toothbrushes as oral hygiene tools by comparing their efficacy with that of regular-sized toothbrushes. Methods: We evaluated the efficacy of large-head and regular-sized toothbrushes. The amount of dental plaque before and after brushing was measured using quantitative light-induced fluorescence digital (QLF-D) images and the plaque index (PI) in adult participants with more than 28 teeth (n=15/group). After brushing, the collected toothbrushes were rinsed 10 times in clean water, thoroughly dried, and weighed on an electronic scale. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test with SPSS Statistics Version 29.0. Results: QLF-D analysis showed a significant decrease in fluorescence intensity scores after use of a regular-sized toothbrush, whereas the scores after use of a large-head toothbrush were not significantly reduced. PI measurements indicated significant reductions in dental plaque for both head types. However, detailed analysis by tooth surface revealed that the regular-sized toothbrush significantly reduced plaque on the proximal, palatal/lingual, and labial/buccal surfaces. In contrast, the large-head toothbrush only showed significant reductions in place on the proximal and palatal/lingual surfaces, not on the labial/buccal surface. Additionally, compared to the regular-sized toothbrush, the large-head toothbrush retained more toothpaste residue despite similar cleaning efforts after brushing. Conclusion: Compared to the regular-sized toothbrush, the large-head toothbrush showed lower overall efficacy in dental plaque removal. The results of this study provide significant information regarding the use of large-head toothbrushes.
With the paradigm shifts towards consumer-centered health service, it is expected that more health care consumers will keep their health information and manage their own health in the future. Thus, this study was conducted to compare "Understanding", "Utilization" and "Management" of Personal Health Record(PHR) between medical users(healthcare students) and health care providers(medical students). We collected data from 208 health and medical students via using self-reported questionnaires form April to June, 2011. The collected data were analyzed using frequency, t-test, Chi-square on SPSS 19.0 version. There was no significant difference in "Understanding" of PHR between two groups. Looking at the order of the importance of PHR contents, two groups equally emphasized medical records, surgical history, and test results. There was significant difference in both time and effectiveness of PHR(p=0.02). Intergrated type of PHR was preferred by both groups. Recently, PHR reflects needs and demands of users more than ever. However there are many limitations to promote the utilization. In the future, it is necessary to implement targeted strategies for the elderly groups and specific types of disease.
Complementary & Alternative Medicine(CAM) have become increasingly popular with health care consumer in recent years. The nurse's attitude and beliefs about CAM will influence the response. to the patient's demands and inquiries. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the attitude and beliefs of nurses about CAM. The study was performed in 600 nurses from October to December in 1999 : Nurses were working one university hospital & one general hospital were located in TaeGu city. and two general hospitals located in Kyung Buk city. The study used specially designed questionnaire to 600 nurses, and analyzed by using descriptive statistics, ANOVA data based on 460 completed questionnaire. The findings of the study are as following. 1. The credible forms of subject about CAM were ranked acupunture (66.1%). herbal medicine(56.5%), Sooji chim (50.4%) et al. 2. In the credibility of subject about CAM there were not significant difference by age. clinical career, marriage, health status. The most reason of positive credibility was 'Being human perspective and spiritual supporting'. While the most reason of negative credibility was 'the lack of science test and doubt of disease treatment'. 3. In the experienced rate of subject about CAM there were significant difference not by health status but by age($x^2$=10.096, p= .006), clinical career($x^2$=7.648 p= .022), marriage($x^2$=9.317. p= .002). In the satistied rate of subject about CAM there were not significant difference by age, clinical career, marriage, health status 4. The most usable forms of subject about CAM in nurse's practice was Music therapy(55.9%), and ranked massage (50.9%), acupressure(32.8%). Sooji chim (27.8%) et al.
Mobile's health care and diagnostic capabilities are accepted as the most innovative sectors, and the combination with wearable device is being predicted as the future's most promising industries. However, the level of consumer acceptance and utilization is still insufficient compared to the development of technology. This study explores the use intention of wearable device based on previous studies about health apps. In particular, health-related use efficacy of the app, app use intention and app satisfaction are analyzed through a structural equation model. The use of health-related apps revealed that there is a statistically significant relationship with the use of the wearable device. The results suggest that the importance of app use efficacy, satisfaction, apps use should be considered for the successful diffusion of wearable health devices.

In this study, we investigated and the following conclusions are presented by identifying the current status and problems in order to expand the future's value of the community care project introduced and implemented to improve the quality and care for the elderly's life. First, the needs analysis of the elderly receiving services is composed of patient-centered rather than investigator-centered, and in particular, medical management through medical staff visits should be strengthened, and specialized service items according to gender, age, disability type, and personal preference should be strengthened. This will have to be gradually strengthened. Second, by analyzing the satisfaction, redundancy, and effectiveness of service items, we save money, and consider the consumer-oriented service item composition and application of items necessary for new services. Third, through the introduction of an integrated schedule management system, it is necessary to specialize in pre-booking and visit schedule management between the elderly and the direct service organizations that provide services. Fourth, as an effort to solve the financial problem, it is necessary to prepare a rational resource sharing system with health and medical finance, long-term care insurance system, and social welfare financial project. and it may consider that putting the medical personnel who are from local public medical college input. Through these proposals, the community care business will be able to complete and have future value as a universal aged care system.
The skyrocketing inflation of medical costs has become a major health problem among most developed countries. Korea, which recently covered the entire population with National Health Insurance, is facing the same problem. The proportion of health expenditure to GNP has increased from 3% to 4.8% during the last decade. This was remarkable, if we consider the rapid economic growth during that time. A few policy analysts began to raise cost containment as an agenda, after recognizing the importance of medical cost inflation. In order to Prepare an appropriate alternative for the agenda, it is necessary to find out reasons for the cost inflation. Then, we should focus on the reasons which are controllable, and those whose control are socially desirable. This study is designed to articulate the theory of medical cost inflation through literature reviews, to find out reasons for cost inflation, by analyzing aggregated data with a deterministic model. Finally to identify determinants of changes in both medical demand and service intensity which are major reasons for cost inflation. The reasons for cost inflation are classified into cost push inflation and demand pull inflation, The former consists of increases in price and intensity of services, while the latter is made of consumer derived demand and supplier induced demand. We used a time series (1983-1987), and cross sectional (over regions) data of health insurance. The deterministic model reveals, that an increase in service intensity is a major cause of inflation in the case of inpatient care, while, more utilization, is a primary attribute in the case of physician visits. Multiple regression analysis shows that an increase in hospital beds is a leading explanatory variable for the increase in hospital care. It also reveals, that an introduction of a deductible clause, an increase in hospital beds and degree of urbanization, are statistically significant variables explaining physician visits. The results are consistent with the existing theory, The magnitude of service intensity is influenced by the level of co-payment, the proportion of old age and an increase in co-payment. In short, an increase in co-payment reduced the utilization, but it induced more intensities or services. We can conclude that the strict fee regulation or increase in the level of co-payment can not be an effective measure for cost containment under the fee for service system. Because the provider can react against the regulation by inducing more services.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was exploring current status of having home page on the hospitals which have more than 500 beds and analyzing web site on the Nursing Department among them. Method : Cases under analyzing were 92 hospitals which have their own home pages. And then, content analysis with 33 cases was used to evaluate web site of Nursing Department. Results : 1. There are 85(92.4%) home pages in the hospitals among 92 hospitals. 2. There are 33(35.9%) web pages on the Nursing Home page in the 85 hospitals which has hospital home pages. 3. The contents of web pages were 'Introduction of Nursing Department' (78.8% of Nursing Department), 'Home health care'(39.4%), 'Areas of Nursing department'(36.4%), 'Educational Opportunities'(36.4%), 'Research activities'(30.3%), 'Interaction'(27.3%), 'E-mail'(18.2%), 'Information providing to consumer'(15.2%), 'Hospice'(15.2%), 'Hot line, consultation'(12.1%) respectively. Conclusion : The results showed that most web sites of Nursing Department were consist of simple contents with simple purpose. Therefore, in this informational world, Nursing Departments have to try using internet marketing with well developed client centered web site.

In Korea, welfare needs brought on by the rapidly growing of elderly population. Also, the senior group with spare time, wealth and health is increasing. Currently, the people have known about needs welfare system for improving quality of life during senescence personally and socially. In addition to the senior friendly industry, having distinction with simple approach medical services, will be great expanding after 2010. And there will be a new welfare services plan supporting long term care insurance for senior citizens. But we don't have prepared systematically organized senior friendly industry and products yet. So, the purpose of the study is to analyze systematically the classification characteristics of the senior friendly products according to the difficulty of daily living for senior citizens. Above all, the study finds out the senior friendly products characteristics according to the consumer's various situations about health and housing space. Therefore the result of the study reveals that the simulation guidelines for choosing the products depend on the customer's needs are essential and useful to improve senior friendly industry. And the post evaluation data of senior friendly products would be put to practical use in the industry.
Background : the hospitals in Korea are in a situation of a severe competition than the past. This situation was resulted from the increase in the number of hospitals and also from the government policy controlling the medical insurance fee. Moreover, consumer's desire for the high quality medical service g\has been significantly increased. Many programs to improve the quality of medical services are being performed in hospitals since the middle of 1990's. Studies up to now reported that more than 10 programs are being performed per hospital in Korea. So far studies have been performed to measure only the number of such programs in a hospital. The purposes of this study are to examine a specific area involved in the programs designed to improve the medical service quality and to suggest a future direction of the such programs. In addition, we hope that the results from this study could assist the programs for the medical service quality. Methods : A mailed questionnaire survey of the QI staffs at hospitals with 400 beds or more was conducted between September 15 and October 30, 2000. Of the 108 hospitals eligible for inclusion in our study, 69 participated, yielding a response rate of 63.9%. Excluding 7 hospital which are not responsed about activities of hospital then 62 hospitals were used for the analysis. Result : The total number of programs was 1,081 from the 62 hospitals participated in the survey. The highest number (24.8 programs) was found in the hospital having more than 800 beds and performing the programs more than 5 years. The 1,081 programs were consisted of 445 from the medical examination area, 343 from the medical examination support area, and 296 from the management area. Conclusion : This study showed the present situation of hospitals in Korea regarding to the quality improvement programs. The results from this study suggest that the pattern of the program for the medical service improvement is being changed to service process and result-centered programs from the structural area.
