To increase the capacity of secondary cells, an appropriate serial composition of the battery modules is essential. The unbalance that may occur due to the series connection in such a serial composition is the main cause for declines in the efficiency and performance of batteries. Various studies have been conducted on the use of a passive or active topology to eliminate the unbalance from the series circuit of battery modules. Most topologies consist of a complex structure in which the Battery Management System (BMS) detects the voltage of each module and establishes the voltage balancing in the independent electrical power converters installed on each module by comparing the module voltage. This study proposes a new magnetic flux sharing type DC/DC converter topology in order to remove voltage unbalances from batteries. The proposed topology is characterized by a design in which all of the DC/DC convertor outputs connected to the modules converge into a single transformer. In this structure, by taking a form in which all of the battery balancing type converters share magnetic flux through a single harmonic wave transformer, all of the converter voltages automatically converge to the same voltage. This paper attempts to analyze the dynamic properties of the proposed circuit by using a Programmable Synthesizer Interface Module (PSIM), which is useful for power electronics analysis, while also attempting to demonstrate the validity of the proposed circuit through experimental results.

Approximate analysis for a building installed with a friction damper is performed to get insight of its dynamic behavior. Energy balance equation is used to have a closed analytical form solution of dynamic magnification factor(DMF). It is found out that DMF is dependent on friction force ratio and resonance frequency. Approximation of DMF and equivalent damping ratio of a friction damper is proposed with such assumption that the building with a friction damper shows harmonic steady-state response and narrow banded response behavior near resonance frequency. Linear transfer function from input external force to output building displacement is suggested from the simplified DMF equation. Root mean square of a building displacement is derived under earthquake-like random excitation. Finally, design procedure of a friction damper is proposed by finding friction force corresponding to target control ratio. Numerical analysis is carried out to verify the proposed design procedure.
In variable speed driving system of three phase induction motor controlled by an inverter, because of the switching of semiconductor devices in inverter, an appreciable amount of harmonic components of voltage waveform can cause the motor to generate losses, torque ripple, acoustic noise and oscillation of semiconductor devices. In this paper a new PAM type PWM inverter using IGBT is described. The output waveforms in the proposed PAM type PWM inverter are investigated both theoretiically and experimentally. The line-voltage waveform is composed of fundamental component and the sidebands of carrier frequency. The lower order harmonics are not included in the output wave form. As each inverter arm does not operate during two-thirds period, the heats, generated in the devices are reduced. That is, the size of the inverter system can he minimized because of the reduction in the heat dissipating equipment.

A new simple control method for active power filter, which can realize the complete compensation of harmonics is proposed. In the proposed scheme, a model-based digital current control strategy is presented. The proposed control system is designed and implemented in a form referred to as internal model control structure. This method provides a convenient way for parameterizing the controller in term of the nominal system model, including time-delays. As a result, the resulting controller parameters are directly set based on the power circuit parameters, which make tuning of the controllers straightforward task. In the proposed control algorithm, overshoots and oscillations due to the computation time delay is prevented by explicit incorporating of the delay in the controller transfer function. In addition, a new compensating current reference generator employing resonance model implemented by a DSP(Digital Signal Processor) is introduced. Resonance model has an infinite gain at resonant frequency, and it exhibits a band-pass filter. Consequently, the difference between the instantaneous load current and the output of this model is the current reference signal for the harmonic compensation.
A computational analysis of the nonlinear free vibration of corrugated annular plates with shallow sinusoidal corrugations under uniformly static ambient temperature is examined. The governing equations based on Hamilton's principle and nonlinear bending theory of thin shallow shell are established for a corrugated plate with a concentric rigid mass at the center and rotational springs at the outer edges. A simple harmonic function in time is assumed and the time variable is eliminated from partial differential governing equations using the Kantorovich averaging procedure. The resulting ordinary equations, which form a nonlinear two-point boundary value problem in spatial variable, are then solved numerically by shooting method, and the temperature-dependent characteristic relations of frequency vs. amplitude for nonlinear vibration of heated corrugated annular plates are obtained. Several numerical results are presented in both tabular and graphical forms, which demonstrate the accuracy of present method and illustrate the amplitude frequency dependence for the plate under such parameters as ambient temperature, plate geometry, rigid mass and elastic constrain.

The Dynamic equations in the polar coordinates are drawn out using the MLPG method for the non-symmetric FG cylindrical shell. To simulate the mechanical properties of FGM, the nonlinear volume fractions for radial direction are used. The shape function applied in this paper is a form of the radial basis functions, by using this function all the requirements for an effective and suitable shape function are established. Hence in this study, the multiquadrics (MQ) radial basis functions are exploited as the shape function governing the problem. The MLPG method is combined with the the Newmark time approximation scheme to solve dynamic equations in the time domain. The obtained results by the MLPG method to be verified are compared with the analytical solution and the FEM. The obtained results through the MLPG method show a good agreement in comparison to other results and the MLPG method has high accuracy for dynamic analysis of the non-symmetric FG cylindrical shell. To demonstrate the capability of the present method to dynamic analysis of the non-symmetric FG cylindrical shell, it is analyzed dynamically with different volume fraction exponents under harmonic and rectangular shock loading. The present method shows high accuracy, efficiency and capability to dynamic analysis of the non-symmetric FG cylindrical shell with nonlinear grading patterns.
Antarctic King Sejong Station was established in King George Island, the South Pole in 1988, and has been executing the monitoring studies on the change of antarctic natural environment. As an available power, the wind energy generator has been used in the form of hybrid with mainly diesel generator. Because the wind generation power sharply changes by wind energy, it must be careful during the system operation. When the power system becomes stable, the output performance of wind energy generator becomes stable. But, in case of unstable system, the errors frequently occur on the wind energy generator and it badly impacts the power system by output of wind energy generator. The purpose of this paper is to analyze suitability while operating the system of 10kW wind energy generator at Antarctic King Sejong Station, an isolated area, and to analyze the problem and improvements by power quality.

In this paper, the case studies of reducing rotational errors is theoretically done for a grinding spindle with an active magnetic bearing system. The rotational errors acting on the magnetic bearing spindle are due to mass unbalance of rotor, runout, grinding excitation and unmodeled nonlinear dynamics of electromagnets. For the most case, the electrical runout of sensor target is big even in well finished surface, this runout can cause a rotation error amplified by feedback control system. The adaptiveed forward method based on LMS algorithm is discussed to compensate this kind of runout effects, and investigated its effectiveness by numerical simulation and experimental analysis. The electrical runout form the rear sensor target of grind spindle is about 70$\mu\textrm{m}$ with harmonic frequencies. The rotor orbit size in rear bearing is reduced about to 5$\mu\textrm{m}$ due to 1X and 2X rejection by feedforward control.
The analysis of dynamic responses are carried out on several orthotropic systems due to transient line source. These include infinite and semi-infinite spaces. The media possess orthotropic or higher symmetry. The lode is in the form of a normal stress acting with parallel to symmetry axis on the plane of symmetry within the materials. The results are first derived for responses of infinite media due to a harmonic line source. Subsequently the results for semi-infinite are derived by using superposition of the solution in the infinite medium together with a scattered solution from the boundaries. The sum of both solutions has to satisfy stress free boundary conditions thereby leading to the complete solutions. Explicit splutions for the displacements due to transient line loads are then obtaind by using Cargniard-DeHoop contour.
Sea waves induce significant pressures on coastal surfaces, especially on rocky vertical cliffs or breakwater structures (Peregrine 2003). In the present work, this hydrodynamic pressure is considered as the excitation acting on a piezoelectric material sheet, installed on a vertical cliff, and connected to an external electric circuit (on land). The whole hydro/piezo/electric system is modeled in the context of linear wave theory. The piezoelectric elements are assumed to be small plates, possibly of stack configuration, under a specific wiring. They are connected with an external circuit, modeled by a complex impedance, as usually happens in preliminary studies (Liang and Liao 2011). The piezoelectric elements are subjected to thickness-mode vibrations under the influence of incident harmonic water waves. Full, kinematic and dynamic, coupling is implemented along the water-solid interface, using propagation and evanescent modes (Athanassoulis and Belibassakis 1999). For most energetically interesting conditions the long-wave theory is valid, making the effect of evanescent modes negligible, and permitting us to calculate a closed-form solution for the efficiency of the energy harvesting system. It is found that the efficiency is dependent on two dimensionless hydro/piezo/electric parameters, and may become significant (as high as 30 - 50%) for appropriate combinations of parameter values, which, however, corresponds to exotically flexible piezoelectric materials. The existence or the possibility of constructing such kind of materials formulates a question to material scientists.
