RF-PECVD법에 의한 Ti-Si-N 박막의 증착거동 (Deposition Behaviors of Ti-Si-N Thin Films by RF Plasma-Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition.)

  • Ti-Si-N films were deposited onto WC-Co substrate by a RF-PECVD technique. The deposition behaviors of Ti-Si-N films were investigated by varying the deposition temperature, RF power, and reaction gas ratio (Mx). Ti-Si-N films deposited at 500, 180W, and Mx 60% had a maximum hardness value of 38GPa. The microstructure of films with a maximum hardness was revealed to be a nanocomposite of TiN crystallites penetrated by amorphous silicon nitride phase by HRTEM analyses. The microstructure of maximum hardness with Si content (10 at.%) was revealed to be a nanocomposite of TiN crystallites penetrated by amorphous silicon nitride phase, but to have partly aligned structure of TiN and some inhomogeniety in distribution. and At above 10 at.% Si content, TiN crystallite became finer and more isotropic also thickness of amorphous silicon nitride phase increased at microstructure.

  • Variation of hardness and corrosion potential of welding zone was investigated when cold arc welding of cast iron was carried out with a parameter of Ni electrode. Hardness of HAZ was the highest compared to other welding zone. And corrosion potential of HAZ was also more negative value than other welding zone. However there was not a proportional relation between hardness and corrosion potential. Local corrosion of HAZ was clearly appeared than other welding zone by small anode and large cathode in seal water solution.

Surface Morphology, Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Thin Ag Films

  • Thin Ag films deposited onto $SiO_2/Si$ substrates by DC magnetron sputtering and thereafter annealed ,it temperatures 100-50$0^{\circ}C$ are investigated by scanning tunneling and atomic forte microscopy. It is shown that the film surface topography and microstructure are considerably changed as a result of annealing. To provide a quantitative estimation of the surface topography changes of Ag films the surface fractal dimension was calculated. Elasticity and hardness of the films are studied by a nanoindentation technique. The films are found to have value of elastic modulus close to that of bulk silver while their hardness and yield stress are essentially higher.

증착방법에 따른 DLC 막의 마찰-마모 특성평가 (Characterization of Tribological Properties of DLC Films Prepared by Different Deposition Method)

  • DLC is considered as the candidate material for application of moving parts in automotive components relatively in high pressure and temperature operating conditions for its high hardness with self lubrication and chemical inertness. Different deposition method such as arc plating, ion gun plating and PECVD were used for comparing mechanical and tribological properties of each DLCs deposited on stainless steel with 1 um thick respectively. Among these 3 types of DLCs, the arc plated DLC film showed highest value for wear resistance in dry condition. From the results of analysis for physical properties of DLC films, it seems that the adhesion force and crack initiation modes were more important factors than intrinsic mechanical properties such as hardness, elastic modulus and/or roughness to the wear resistance of DLC films. Raman spectroscopy was used for understanding chemical bonding natures of each type of DLC films. Typical D and G peaks were identified based on the deposition method. Hardness of the coating layers were identified by nanoindentation method and the adhesions were checked by scratch method.

뽕잎 분말을 첨가한 쿠키의 품질특성 (Quality Characteristics of Cookies containing Mulberry Leaf (Morus alba Linne) Powder)

  • This study examined the quality characteristics of cookies prepared with mulberry leaf powder (0, 1, 3, 5, and 7%) substituted for flour. The pH of the cookie dough decreased significantly in response to the addition of all levels of mulberry leaf powder. The spread factor of the cookies also increased significantly with increasing mulberry leaf powder content added to the cookies recipe. In addition, the Hunter's color L and a values decreased significantly with increasing mulberry leaf powder content, whereas the b value increased. According to hardness measurements, the substitution of 1~7% mulberry leaf powder resulted in increased hardness compared to the control. Moreover, the DPPH free radical scavenging activity of the cookies was increased significantly (p<0.05) with increasing levels of mulberry leaf powder. The sensory evaluation revealed cookies containing 3% to have the highest scores.

  • Silicon oxide films with high hardness and water repellency were prepared by microwave plasma-enhanced CVD using four kind of organosilicon compound-fluoro-alkyl silane mixtures as source gases. An argon gas was used as a carrier gas for fluoro-alkyl silane. The substrate temperatures during deposition were controlled by resistant heating at a constant value between 50 and $300^{\circ}C$. The hardness of the films increased, but the deposition rate and the contact angle for a water drop decreased with increasing substrate temperature. The number of methoxy groups also affected the water repellency and hardness. The deposited films became more inorganic with increasing substrate temperature because of the thermal dissociation of reactants.

  • Friction stir weldability of AZ31B Mg alloy was studied using microstructural observation and mechanical tests. Defect free joints was obtained under the condition of 2000rpm-100mm/min. In TMAZ, a lot of twin deformation were observed due to the mechanical effect of the FSW tool and thus relatively high hardness was obtained. In SZ, the twin deformation was disappeared by recovery and the hardness decreased because the. grain structure was coarsened by dynamic recrystallization and grain growth. The Al-Mn precipitates were observed throughout the joint regions. On the other hand, $$\beta$-Mg_{17}Al_{12}$ intermetallic compounds were not observed in either of the zone. The joint efficiency was about 80% and the impact value of the joint was almost equal to that of base metal.

  • Monthly mean values for EDTA hardness in the Han River water were determined for March 1966 through May 1967. The hardness was retained a range of 22-59 mg/L the maximum value of 59 mg/L was approached in the months of mid-winter, indicating a seasonal variation. The annual ranges of Ca and Mg were 3.7-9.1 mg/L, 1.5-10.4 mg/L, respectively. The annual range of Mg:Ca ratio was 0.18-2.60. And the hardness correlated closely with Mg volume. In Korea, fortunately, most river waters are not yet suffering from damaging pollution. We must try to establish our water quality criteria based on scientific data, and make research recommendations for the following water uses; public water supplies, aquatic life and wildlife, industry, recreation and aesthetics.

  • In this work, the strain-amplitude independent and strain-amplitude dependent damping capacities of Mg-5%Sn alloy have been investigated as a function of its age-hardening response. The hardness increased with an increase in aging time, reached a peak value after 48 h, and then it gradually decreased. The damping capacities of the Mg-5%Sn alloy exhibited a decreasing tendency in the order of solution-treated, under-aged, peakaged, and over-aged states in the strain-amplitude dependent region, whereas they increased continuously with aging time in the strain-amplitude independent region. The microstructural examination during aging revealed that the lower concentration of Sn solutes in the α-(Mg) matrix and the lower density of the Mg2Sn precipitate particles may well be the crucial factors for better damping values in the strain-amplitude independent and strain-amplitude dependent regions, respectively.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the possibility of estimating optimum surface finish time of the fresh concrete placed at the job site by applying a surface hardness test meter(Durometer). Tests are carried out by measuring and comparing the Penetration resistance test and hardness test by Durometer. Penetration resistance tester and improved Durometer are similar, but the higher the temperature, the higher the setting time, and the higher the correlation was shown. When the hardness value of the improved Durometer is about 50 HD, it is found that the initial and 80 HD represent the end. It is expected that this will be useful in determining the finish time of the surface at the actual site.
