  • The thermal degradation of concrete results mainly from two mechanisms. The first one is related to phase transformations of constituents at different temperatures. The initial constituents transform to other phases due to elevated temperature. The second mechanism is related to the temperature sensitivity of the mechanical properties of the constituents in concrete. Therefore, the degradation of concrete under high temperatures must be studied from both mechanical and chemical points of view. This study was performed as a basic study to propose the material models of concrete exposed to high temperatures considering above two mechanisms. This study presents a prediction model on the porosity of hardened cement paste considering phase changes according to temperature increase.

  • Fibre-reinforced self-compacting concrete (FRSCC) is a high-performance building material that combines positive aspects of fresh properties of self-compacting concrete (SCC) with improved characteristics of hardened concrete as a result of fibre addition. To produce SCC, either the constituent materials or the corresponding mix proportions may notably differ from the conventional concrete (CC). These modifications besides enhance the concrete fresh properties affect the hardened properties of the concrete. Therefore, it is vital to investigate whether all the assumed hypotheses about CC are also valid for SCC structures. In the present paper, the experimental results of short-term flexural load tests on eight reinforced SCC and FRSCC specimens slabs are presented. For this purpose, four SCC mixes - two plain SCC, two steel, two polypropylene, and two hybrid FRSCC slab specimens - are considered in the test program. The tests are conducted to study the development of SCC and FRSCC flexural cracking under increasing short-term loads from first cracking through to flexural failure. The achieved experimental results give the SCC and FRSCC slabs bond shear stresses for short-term crack width calculation. Therefore, the adopted bond shear stress for each mix slab is presented in this study. Crack width, crack patterns, deflections at mid-span, steel strains and concrete surface strains at the steel levels were recorded at each load increment in the post-cracking range.

  • In this study, it does a high volume flyash substituted concrete experiments in two curing temperature circumstances - 35$^{\circ}C$, 2$0^{\circ}C$. High volume flyash concrete is tested in fresh concrete properties and hardeded concrete properties. In the fresh concrete test items, there is slump, air contents, concrete setting tests. 3, 7, and 28 days water curing compressive strength is measured in the hardened concrete test. The purpose of this study is to submit a various flyash concrete data for application to field. The result of this study is that the best strength is developed at the plain concrete cured 2$0^{\circ}C$ and Mixing F43 shows the best strength among specimens which cured at 35$^{\circ}C$

  • The object of this study is to compare properties of massive fly-ash concrete with plain concrete. Two concrete mixtures comprising two batch each $1.0m^3$ in volume, were made from ready mixed concrete batch plant. The water-to-cementitious materials ratio was kept constant at 51.4%. Therefore, massive concrete specimen($W800{\times}D800{\times}H800mm$) was cast from ready mixed concrete to analyze history of temperature and core strength properties. Bleeding, time of slump loss and time of setting of the fresh concrete were measured. In order to estimate the properties of massive fly-ash concrete in hardened concrete, non-destructive tests such as rebound hardness, ultrasonic pulse velocity and maturity were performed and analyzed.

  • Recently, the use of the underwater concrete constructions with the antiwashout underwater concrete is increasing. In this study, we investigate the properties of pH, suspended solids, slump flow, box test, air contents of fresh antiwashout underwater concrete and the Unit weight, compressive strength of hardened antiwashout underwater concrete which Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag contents 0%, 10%, 20%, 30%, 50%, 60% at 7days and 28days age which is produced and cured in the water and sea water. As a result, Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag contents 30% was excellent.

  • This paper is to develop steel fiber reinforced polymer-impregnated concrete(SFPIC) by impregnation polymer impregnate into hardened steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC). Steel fiber induces ductile behavior and polymer impregnant increase compressive strength. Steel fiber reinforced polymer-impregnated concrete specimens are prepared with fiber contents of 0.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5% and tested to obtain uni-axial and bi-axial compression strengths, tensile strength and flexural strength. The strength and mechanical properties of normal concrete, SFRC, SFPIC are compared.

  • During the initial design phases for prestressed concrete structures, the mecessary information concerning the physical properties of the hardened concrete such as creep, drying shrinkage, modulus of elasticity, and Poisson's ratio are obtained from design assumptions or accepted standards. But these assumptions may not totally reflect the actual long-term behavior of the concrete. So they may be of limited use in predicting the actual behavior. The purpose of this paper is to describe the test procedures and methods of evaluation which were used during the long-term study.

  • The effects of superplasticizers on fresh and hardened concrete were investigated. The experimental program included tests on the workability and slump loss, bleeding, setting time, air content, compressive, tensile and flexural strength, permeability, shrinkage, freeze-thaw durability and creep deformation. Properties of superplasticized concrete were compared with those of conventional and base concretes. Superplasticizers were observed to have an appreciable fluidifying action in fresh concrete. They permitted a significant water reduction while maintaining the same workability. Bleeding of superplasticized concrete was much lower than that of conventional concrete of the same consistency. This indicates that the use of superplasticizers did not affect the tendency of segregation of fresh concrete. The compressive, tensile, and flexural strengths of superplasticized concrete were significantly higher than those of conventional concrete. The permeability and drying shrinkage and creep of superplasticized concrete were less than those of conventional concrete, but there were no significant differences between base and superplasticized concrete. Compared with base concrete, non-air-entrained superplasticized concrete had slightly higher freeze-thaw durability. and superplasticized concrete with an appropriate amount of entrained air Eave even better resistance to freezing and thawing.

  • In this study, effects of fluosilicate salt based chemical admixture(MZ) on the watertightness and hardening properties of concrete were investigated. Mix proportions for experiment were modulated at 0.55 of water to cement ratio and addition amount of MZ to $2.0\%$ at intervals $0.5\%$. Compressive strength, porosity and microstructure of hardened concrete cured at several days were executed to evaluate watertightness and hardening properties. It is ascertained that watertightness and hardening properties of concrete could be improved by an adequate addition of fluosilicate salt based chemical admixture.

  • The objective of in this study makes investigation into the characteristics of concrete as to properties and blended ratio of crushed aggregates through experimental researches. In this study, river sand is blended with crushed sand as to investigate the quality change and characteristics of concrete with variation of blend ratio of crushed sand(50, 60, 70, 80, 90, $100\%$). Measured the air contents and slump to investigate properties of fresh concrete, and unit weight and compressive strength in age of 7, 28days to investigate properties of hardened concrete. The experimental results of crushed aggregates' qualities were all satisfied with Korea Standard's values.
