  • This article analyzed the building regulations, the guidelines for the people with disabilities, and the interior environment of the transportation facilities of Stockholm and Oslo, which wee capital cities of leading countries in this field. Result showed that Swedish 'BBR 94' was made and based on accessibility, safety, and efficiency. But the mandatory items and detailed recommendations were minimal. 'The Swedish Handicap Institute' provided more detailed requirements. As a result of case studies of 4 facilities, it appeared that these facilities used sufficient dimension, variable color, different material, or adaptable lightings in order to provide easy accessibility, adaptability, safety, support, and mobility for the people with disabilities instead of keeping the building regulations and guidelines reluctantly.

  • The impaired person and the elderly who has hearing loss have been continuously increased and these people's desire for participating society as a producer has been increased also. So they strongly request the aid device which can compensate their handicap. The healing aid telephone is one of the basic aid devices that helps the hearing impaired to communicate with other people and to acquire useful information. We design the new model of the hearing aid telephone and test it's efficiency in three fields - electrical, speech perception, user test. From the result of the test we certify that the new model is better for the hearing impaired to understand the meaning of telephone speech than the old general models. We expect that the advanced healing aid telephone can be developed by the research about speech perception characteristics of the hearing impaired in engineering and clinical side.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the kinetic energy of putter head and ball movements during the process of impact. Highly skilled 5 golfers(less than 1 handicap) participated in this study and the target distance was 3 m. Movements of ball and putter head were recorded with 2 VHS video cameras(60 Hz, 1/500 s shutter speed). Small control object($18.5{\times}18.5{\times}78.5\;cm$) was used in this sdtuldy. Analyzing the process of impact, putter was digitized before 0.0835 s and after 0.0835 s of impact. Ball was digitized 0.1336 s after impact. The results showed that the maximum speed was appeared at Impact and prolonged for a while. Contact point of the club head was within 0.7 cm to the z axis. After contacting the club head, the ball was moved above the ground level(slide) and returned to the ground with sliding and rolling. After contacting the ground, the speed of ball was relied on the surface of the ground. During impact, 70% of kinetic energy of club head has been transferred to the ball.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the difference in grip force and angular kinematic variables between elite (handicap${\leq}2$) and novice golfers. Three-dimensional motion analysis system with synchronized grip force measurement system was used. The participants consisted of two groups based on their playing ability: 10 elite golfers and 10 novice golfers. Each subject performed 5 putting strokes at the distance of 1, 3, and 5m with randomly selected order. During entire putting phase, elite group showed relatively constant grip force but novice group showed continuously increasing grip force pattern. There existed a clear difference in the trajectory of shoulder line between two groups. As for novice group the rotational center did not converge into one point, for elite group the rotational center converged into precise single point. And there was a clear difference pattern in anterior-posterior directional movement at shoulder between two groups. These difference might be helpful for improving consistent putting skills.

  • Objective: We report a case of a 73-year-old Korean male with vertigo and nausea, both of which were brought about by head repositioning. The condition was diagnosed as benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).Method: The patient was treated with acupuncture, electroacupuncture, cupping, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), and herbal medicine (Bosimsahwacheonggan-tang [補心瀉火淸肝湯]). We conducted the vertigo symptoms scale (VSS) and the dizziness handicap inventory (DHI) to evaluate the degree of the patient’s symptoms. Results: Vertigo and nausea started to improve after the administration of Bosimsahwacheonggan-tang, but although the patient took the anti-vertigo medication and a tranquilizer after the symptoms became aggravated, no prominent improvements could be observed. Conclusion: These results suggest that traditional Korean medical treatment may be effective in treating peripheral vertigo due to BPPV.
