Multimedia applications have an ability to transmit a lot of data in real time. In mobile circumstances the replay of continuous multimedia data in real time causes frequent replay breaks and poor service quality because of low transmission speed and new transmission path settings in hand-off. To avoid these unfavorable side effects, we need a new mechanism which can transmit data efficiently between base station and mobile hosts, to control the buffers of mobile hosts, and to switch to a new transmission path rapidly in hand-off. The study is to propose how to give good service to mobile hosts during hand-off and the mechanism which can increase the number of mobile hosts in the cell unit.

A multicast session protocol in wireless networks reduces the session delay of multicast delivery caused by moving of mobile host. A hand-off scheme, called MSDR (multicast session delay reduction), in mobile networks is proposed. MSDR protocol that minimizes the delay of a session re-establishment uses the basic unicast routing function of the IETF mobile IP and the DFA (designated foreign agent) to provide multicast services for mobile hosts. Proposed MSDR protocol allows the mobile hosts to continuously receive packets when they move across the basic sets during hand-off. Discrete-event simulation carried out for performance evaluation of MSDR protocol, and simulation results indicated that our scheme can offer a better performance of multicast session delay reduction in terms of signalling cost than that of IETF.

Urban railway can be divided into ground and underground sections. In particular, the center of the metropolitan has been built mostly underground stations and tunnels. Underground section is difficult to measure the position because GPS signal is unavailable, so it is necessary to apply the indoor positioning technology. For this purpose, we analyzed the positioning technologies which are based on Wi-Fi and mobile base stations. The positing technology for smart phone which uses mobile base station' information is developed in the underground area of urban railway where the core technique is to implement base station ID into the positing technology by considering hand-off point.
Wireless LAN is intrinsically weak in security of transmissions. WPKI (Wireless Public Key Infrastructure) is a well known Method to deal with the security issues in wireless LAN. The authentication required by the method becomes a source of unrellability of the hand-off performance. This paper suggests a solution to overcome the instability while using the WPKI technique, Prior to getting into the next region, a station is provided with the keys of the surrounding regions so that the possible delay problem can be avoided during the actual hand-off time. Thereby the hand-off instability can be solved in the WPKI framework.
In this paper, we designed HW / SW interfaces for processing the signals of capacitive sensors like Electric Potential Sensor (EPS) to detect the surrounding electric field disturbance as feature signals in motion recognition systems. We implemented a smart light control system with those interfaces. In the system, the on/off switch and brightness adjustment are controlled by hand gestures using the designed and fabricated interface circuits. PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signals of the controller with a driver IC are used to drive the LED and to control the brightness and on/off operation. Using the hand-gesture signals obtained through EPS sensors and the interface HW/SW, we can not only construct a gesture instructing system but also accomplish the faster recognition speed by developing dedicated interface hardware including control circuitry. Finally, using the proposed hand-gesture recognition and signal processing methods, the light control module was also designed and implemented. The experimental result shows that the smart light control system can control the LED module properly by accurate motion detection and gesture classification.

CDP(handoff Call Dropping Probability) and CBP(new Call Blocking Probability) have been used as two important call level QoS parameters in cellular mobile communications. But, many methods to reduce CDP without considering CBP have been studied, and hand-off call priority scheme has been introduced. But the use of hand-off call priority scheme increases CBP and decreases channel utilization rate depending on the number of reserved channel for priority. In this paper, we propose a CAC(Call Admission Control) algorithm with overflow and preemption to solve the problem caused by considering CDP and CBP in calculation of the number of channel reserved. The problem is the increase of CDP as the traffic load increases. In our CAC algorithm, hand-off call is permitted to use(overflow) unreserved and unused channel if there is no reserved and unused channel, and new call is permitted to use(preemption) the channel overflowed by hand-off call if there is no unreserved and unused channel. This mechanism of calculation of the number of reserved channel and CAC algorithm is expected to increase channel utilization rate, and can be applied to media-based QoS provision in cellular mobile communications.

Location tracking system through GPS and Wi-Fi is available at no additional cost in an environment of IEEE 802.11-based wireless network. It is useful for many applications in outdoor environment. However, a previous systems used for general device to tag. It is unsuitable for power aware location tracking system because general devices is more expensive and non-optimized for tracking. The hand-off method of IEEE 802.11 standard is not enough considering power consumption. This thesis analyzes the previous location tracking systems and proposes power aware system. First, we designed and implemented tag to optimize location tracking. Next, we propose low-power hand-off method and low-power behavior model in implemented tag. The proposed hand-off method resolve power problem by using the location information and behavior model minimize power consumption of tag through power-saving mode and the concept of duty cycle. To evaluating proposed methods and system performance, we perform simulations and experiments in real environment. And then, we calculate tag's power consumption based on the actual measured current consumption of each operation. In a simulation result, the proposed behavior model and hand-off method reduced about 98%, 59% than the standard's hand-off and default behavior model.
For multimedia traffics to be supported successfully in wireless network environment, it is necessary to provide Qualify-of-Service(QoS) guarantees among mobile hosts(clients). In order to guarantee the QoS, we have to keep the call blocking probability below a target value during hand-off session. However, the QoS negotiated between the client and the network may not be guaranteed due to lack of available channels for traffic of a new cell, since on service mobile clients should be able to continue their sessions. In this paper, we propose an efficient load-balancing algorithm based on the adaptive bandwidth reservation scheme for enlarging available channels in a cell. Proposed algorithm predicts the direction of clients in a cell and adjusts the amount of the channel to be reserved according to the load status of the cell. This method is used to reserve a part of bandwidths of a cell for hand-off calls to its adjacent cells and this reserved bandwidth can be used for hand-off call prior to new connection requests. If the number of free channels is also under a low threshold value, our scheme use a load-balancing algorithm with an adaptive bandwidth reservation. In order to evaluate the performance of our algorithm, we measure metrics such as the blocking probability of new calls and dropping probability of hand-off calls, and compare with those of existing schemes.

Machine of textiles let off is equipment supplying constantly fabrics. Nowdays, as it is replaced band - brake type with hydraulic motor driven type, we looked into characteristic of hydraulic solenoid pilot direction valve(SPDV) for controlling acceleration performance of hydraulic motor. This study deals with controlling the initial speed of textiles let off machine. Finally, to control the initial speed of hydraulic motor, we controlled the adjustment screw of SPDV by a hand. Test which was carried out in the laboratory shows that initial speed of textiles let off could be improved by controlling adjustment screw of SPDV. Also, the results of experiment work were compared with dynamic characteristic of other on/off solenoid direction valve(SDV).
This paper explores three-dimensional unsteady computational fluid dynamic (CFD) analyses with an overset grid technique to analyse the wake effect created by a rotating propeller on a hand-launched unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Additionally, the influence of actual aileron deflection on the equilibrium condition of the rolling moment is examined in various hand-launched take-off conditions. The results of this study demonstrate the importance of initial aileron deflection in increasing the initial rolling stability during the hand-launched take-off process. Furthermore, an aerodynamic database is constructed to rapidly predict the aileron set values required for different take-off speeds and angle-of-attacks.
