Dental properties of polymer composite loaded with hybrid filler of barium silicate (BaSi) and hydroxyapatite, which is a principal component of human bone material, were investigated. A visible light system was utilized to activate the acrylic resin matrix of the composite. Based on the experimental results, it was found that mechanical strength of the composite was consistently increased with an increase of BaSi content in the hybrid filler. And those value rose above the dental specification enough to apply for dental materials. However, abrasion resistance was slightly decreased with increasing BaSi content in the filler. Depth of cure value was 6 to 9 mm applicable for dental restoration irrelevant to hybrid filler composition. On the other hand, there was no strict trend between filler composition and polymerization shrinkage as well as degree of conversion.

This study was carried out to investigate the proper cooking conditions of soda-anthraquinone and alkaline sulfite-anthraquinone pulping of rice-straw, and get basic data f9r the use of rice-straw chemical pulp through the test of characteristics and physical properties of pulps made in the various cooking conditions From the experimental results , we can conclude as follows. In the soda-anthraquinone pulping of rice-straw, the optimum cooking conditions were 60 min. at $150^{\circ}C$ in the amount of caustic soda of 20% with the addition of anthraquinone(0.05%). And total yield, Kappa No. and brightness of pulp made in the condition above mentioned were 41.9%, 7.7 and 51.1 respectively. In the alkaline sulfite-anthraquinone pulping of rice-straw, the proper mixing ratio of cooking chemical(caustic soda : sodium sulfite) was 50:50. And the optimum cooking conditions were 60 min. at $150^{\circ}C$ in the amount of cooking chemical of 20% with the addition of anthraquinone(0.05%). At that time, the total yield, Kappa No, and brightness of pulp were 50.1%, 9.1 and 40.2 respectively. As a result, the alkaline sulfite-anthraquinone pulping was superior to the soda-anthraquinone pulping in the aspect of yield, but inferior in the viewpoints of Kappa No. and brightness. For the comparison of qualities of pulps made in the various cooking methods and conditions, the physical properties of four sorts of pulps were tested. As a result, soda-anthraquinone pulps were superior to alkaline sulfite-anthraquinone pulps in the various strengths excluding tear strength and brightness. On the other hand, pulps made in the condition of addition of cooking chemical of 20% were superior to pulps in the dosage of 15% in the aspects of all the strengths and brightness.
Aluminum nitride, a compound semiconductor, has a Wurtzite structure; good material properties such as high thermal conductivity, great electric conductivity, high dielectric breakdown strength, a wide energy band gap (6.2eV), a fast elastic wave speed; and excellent in thermal and chemical stability. Furthermore, the thermal expansion coefficient of the aluminum nitride is similar to those of Si and GaAs. Due to these characteristics, aluminum nitride can be applied to electric packaging components, dielectric materials, SAW (surface acoustic wave) devices, and photoelectric devices. In this study, we surveyed the crystallization and preferred orientation of AlN thin films with an X-ray diffractometer. To fabricate the AlN thin film, we used the magnetron sputtering method with $N_2$, NH3 and Ar. According to an increase in the partial pressures of $N_2$ and $NH_3$, Al was nitrified and deposited onto a substrate in a molecular form. When AlN was fabricated with $N_2$, it showed a c-axis orientation and tended toward a high orientation with an increase in the temperature. On the other hand, when AlN was fabricated with $NH_3$, it showed a-axis orientation. This result is coincident with the proposed mechanism. We fabricated AlN thin films with an a-axis orientation by controlling the sputtering electric power, $NH_3$ pressure, deposition speed, and substrate temperature. According to the proposed mechanism, we also fabricated AlN thin films which demonstrated high a-axis and c-axis orientations.
An ultrafine grained complex aluminum alloy was fabricated by an accumulative roll-bonding (ARB) process using dissimilar aluminum alloys of AA1050 and AA5052 and subsequently annealed. A two-layer stack ARB process was performed up to six cycles without lubricant at an ambient temperature. In the ARB process, the dissimilar aluminum alloys, AA1050 and AA5052, with the same dimensions were stacked on each other after surface treatment, rolled to the thickness reduction of 50%, and then cut in half length by a shearing machine. The same procedure was repeated up to six cycles. A sound complex aluminum alloy sheet was fabricated by the ARB process, and then subsequently annealed for 0.5h at various temperatures ranging from 100 to $350^{\circ}C$. The tensile strength decreased largely with an increasing annealing temperature, especially at temperatures of 150 to $250^{\circ}C$. However, above $250^{\circ}C$ it hardly decreased even when the annealing temperature was increased. On the other hand, the total elongation increased greatly above $250^{\circ}C$. The hardness exhibited inhomogeneous distribution in the thickness direction of the specimens annealed at relatively low temperatures, however it had a homogeneous distribution in specimens annealed at high temperatures.
The experiment was conducted to know the effect of plant growth regulators on axillary bud elongation from in vitro stem cutting and the possibility of virus-free stock production. Axillary buds were well elongated in 3/4 strength MS medium supplemented with 0.1 or 0.5 mg/1 BA and 0.05 mg/1 NAA. Transferred plantlets could be established well in vermiculite and peat moss mixture (3:1, v/v) compare to other mixtures. In virus indexing, all the varieties of mother plants were infected by GLRV Ⅲ. Infected percentages of the three varieties were ranged from 30% to 75%. But negative response was revealed against the other species of virus, GLRV Ⅰ, GFLV and ArMV. Plantlet of 'Schuyler' and 'Muscat of Alexandria', which were cultured in vitro, showed positive response against GLRV Ⅲ and infected percentage of the former was 37.5% but the latter, 12.5%. On the other hand, that of 'Campbell Early' negativiely responded against all the species of virus indexed.

The role of short fibre pulp - Mixed Harwood, Eucalyptus, Aspen, Birch, etc for the manufacture of different grades of paper is very well recognized. At the same time, lots of efforts are in progress to maximize the advantages while preserving their own special property. Bleached Acacia Kraft Pulp (BAKP) is comparatively new entry but gained quick recognition. BAKP was introduced to the world market by South East Asian suppliers in the late 1990's. This paper discusses in detail the role and opportunities of use of short fibre pulps. A logical technical comparison has been made between BAKP and another short fibre grades. BAKP being a short, thin-walled fibre shows several similarities with Eucalyptus pulp in terms of good bulk and stiffness. Refining energy and strength properties are very similar, but the shorter fibres and thinner cell walls give an outstanding opacity and formation compared to other commercial short fibre pulps. The collapsed and band-shaped nature gives a matchless smoothness, enabling less calendaring and exceptional printing properties. BAKP is shown to give several advantages to fine paper manufactures, compared with a number of established short fibre pulps such as Brazilian and Chilean Eucalyptus, Canadian Aspen and Indonesian Mixed Hardwood. It is important to consider refining and calendaring conditions to achieve optimum performance. For outer layers of multiply board, Acacia gives excellent coverage due to its high opacity and uniform fibre distribution. Its low roughness property gives improved printability. For tissue products, Acacia gives unique property of superior softness both in terms of hand feel and bulk softness. The high fibre population gives an impression of much higher quality due to the higher opacity and good formation.
The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of additives on the mechanical and electrical characteristics of electrodeposited copper foils. Additives A(leveler) and B(brightener) were used in this study and Cl ions were used as an accelerator. In case of using these additives A and B, it showed a disadvantage that decreased the elongation of electrodeposited layer due to decreased grain sizes and increased tensile strength. On the other hand, the Cl ions decreased the specific resistance of the copper layer and increased elongation owing to increasing grain sizes. The highest elongation and lowest resistivity were measured in the group added only Cl ions, whose values were 21.9% and $3.11{\mu}\Omega$-cm, respectively.

The interbody fusion cage used to replace the degenerative intervertebral disc is largely composed of titanium-based biomaterials and biopolymer materials such as PEEK. Titanium is characterized by osseointergration and biocompatibility, but it is posed that the phenomenon such as subsidence can occur due to high elastic modulus versus bone. On the other hand, PEEK can control the elastic modulus in a similar to bone, but there is a problem that the osseointegration is limited. The purpose of this study was to implement titanium material's stiffness similar to that of bone by applying cellular structure, which is able to change the stiffness. For this purpose, the cellular structure A (BD, Body Diagonal Shape) and structure B (QP, Quadral Pod Shape) with porosity of 50%, 60%, 70% were proposed and the reinforcement structure was suggested for efficient strength reinforcement and the stiffness of each model was evaluated. As a result, the stiffness was reduced by 69~93% compared with Ti6Al4V ELI material, and the stiffness most similar to cortical bone is calculated with the deviation of about 12% in the BD model with 60% porosity. In this study, the interbody fusion cage made of Ti6Al4V ELI material with stiffness similar to cortical bone was implementing by applying cellular structure. Through this, it is considered that the limitation of the metal biomaterial by the high elastic modulus may be alleviated.
The polyurethane resin was prepared by the reaction of tolylenediisocyanate(TDI) and polypropyleneglycol(PPG). Physical properties of the resin were investigated experimentally. Charging catalyst before TDI-dropping induced the rapid increase of viscosity. On the other hand, charging catalyst after TDI-dropping resulted in mild stability without immoderate generation of heat on reaction. The use of phosphoric acid as catalyst led to low viscosity by restraining side-reaction such as forming of branch-chain, buret reaction and allopanate reaction, but it showed low cross-link density and slow drying. The curing speed was more influenced by structures of molecules rather than NCO/OH ratio. Including PPG 400 over 30 wt % showed excellent adhesive strength due to increase of crosslink density.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of sprinter pattern bridging exercise using theraband on activation of lower extremity and abdominal muscle and to find out postures that can effectively improve abdominal and lower extremity muscle strength and increase abdominal stability. Methods: This study was designed as a cross-sectional study. The following research was done with applicants attending S university in Seoul to compare the difference in muscle activity between one-leg-Support bridging exercise and sprinter-pattern bridging exercise using theraband. For 48 study participants, we first measured their MVC. Then, we applied one-leg-support bridging exercise and sprinter-pattern bridging exercise at random order. These data were expressed as the percentage of maximal voluntary contraction (%MVC).Electromyography analysis was performed by measuring the external obliques, internal obliques, biceps femoris, and gluteus maximus. Results: There was a statistically significant increment of muscle activity in external and internal oblique muscle(p<0.001)by sprinter-pattern bridging exercise using theraband. On the lower body, statistically significant increment of muscle activity in biceps femoris and gluteus maximus was found(p<0.05). On the other hand, on erector spinae, there was statistically significant decrease in muscle activity(p<0.05). Conclusions: Efficient treatment is expected when sprinter-pattern bridging exercise using theraband is applied clinically. For patients with chronic knee and ankle pain who have difficulty bearing weight, including low back pain and internal rotation of the femur, starting with a low weight bearing, we think it will be helpful in planning systematic training aimed at progressively strengthening the lower extremities.
