수직 Bridgman 법에 의한 CdTe 단결정 성장과 특성 (Growth and characterization of CdTe single crystal by vertical Bridgman method)

  • High quality CdTe single crystal for the solar cell fabrication was grown by vertical Bridgman method. The etch pits patterns of (111) surfaces of CdTe etched by Nakagawa solution was observed the (111)A compesed of Cd atoms with typical triangle etch pits of pyramid mode. From the photoluminescence measurement on (111)A, we observed free exciton ($E_{x}$) existing only high quality crystal and neutal acceptor bound exciton ($A^{0}$,X) having very strong peak intensity. Then, the full width at half maximum and binding energy of neutral acceptor bound exciton were 7 meV and 5.9 meV, respectively. By Haynes rule, an activation enery of impurity was 59 meV. Therefore, the origins on impurity level acting as a neutral acceptor were associated Ag or Cu elements.

Electrochemical Performance of Carbon/Silicon Composite as Anode Materials for High Capacity Lithium Ion Secondary Battery

  • Carbon/silicon composites were synthesized by mixing silicon powders with petroleum pitch and subsequent heat-treatment. The resultant composites were composed of carbon and nano-size crystalline silicon identified by XRD and EDX. FIB images and SEM images were taken respectively to detect the existence of silicon impregnated in carbon and the distribution of silicon on the carbon surface. The obtained carbon/silicon materials were assembled as half cell anodes for lithium ion secondary battery and their electrochemical properties were tested. The pitch/silicon composite (3 : 1 wt. ratio) heat treated at $1000^{\circ}C$ and mixed with 55.5 wt.% of graphite showed relatively good electrochemical properties such as the initial efficiency of 78%, the initial discharge capacity of 605 mAh/g, and the discharge capacity of 500 mAh/g after 20 cycles.

Si-sealant를 이용하여 제조한 금속수소화물 전극의 특성 (The Properties of the Metal Hydride electrodes prepared by Silicon Sealant)

  • The $(LM)Ni_{4.5}Co_{0.1}Mn_{0.2}Al_{0.2}$ hydrogen storage alloy powders were conducted 25wt% electroless copper plating in an acidic bath. For the preparation of a hydride electrodes, the copper coated alloy powder was mixed with Si-sealant(organosilicon) and compacted with $6t/cm^2$ at room temperature. The electrode characteristics were examined through electrochemical measurements in a half cell. As a sealant contents increased, the initial discharge capacity of si-sealant bounded electrode was lower and the activation rate in high current density was slower. For extended cycles, however, the electrodes with the Si-sealant were superior in a high rate discharge and useful range of temperature over the sealant-free electrode. In addition, the cycle life increased with increasing the amount of Si-sealant added. It can be suggested from the results that the Si-sealant as a binder could be applied to the preparation of the metal hydride electrode.

  • Supercapacitor is attracting growing attention for a promising energy conversion and storage device because of its desirable electrochemical properties such as rapid charge-discharge rate, high power density and long cycle life. Three-dimensional (3D) metal nanostructure has been widely studied since it can provide efficient charge transport along the 3D network in many device applications. In this work, we fabricated well-ordered 3D nickel (Ni) nanostructures using 3D-arrayed polystyrene nano-opal substrates. We also fabricated half-cell supercapacitors by electrodepositing $RuO_2$ onto these nanostructured Ni current collectors and investigated their morphological and electrochemical properties.

  • A special discharge cell containing a free conducting particle was used to generate the discharges in $SF_6$. The analog bandwidth of the measurement system exceeded 5 GHz. The measured signals were processed to compensate for the response of the measurement system. The discharge current rise time was in the range of 70 ps, while its full-width half-maximum was 120 ps. Single and double current pulses of positive and negative polarities were measured. Likewise, these pulses were compared with the measurement obtained using a conventional partial discharge detector of the IEC60270 type

  • The effect of exogenous oxygen on hydrogen photoproduction was examined in the synchronously grown cells of marine Synechococcus sp. Miami BG 043511 under conditions of high cell density (0.6-0.8 mg chl-${\alpha}$ $ml^{-1}$) and high light intensity (1000 ${\mu}$E $m^{-2}$ $s^{-1}$). Hydrogen evolution after 20-h incubation did not decline under the initial oxygen concentrations up to 20%, but declined by half under 34% oxygen. 50% and 100% oxygen gas phase did not completely inhibit the hydrogen photoproduction during 40-h incubations. After 2-day pretreatment under 100% exogenous oxygen the hydrogen photoproduction capabilities were not irreversibly inhibited, which was demonstrated in the subsequent 9-day incubation under initial 0, 50 and even under 100% oxygen gas phase. This strain could be useful for developing a hydrogen photoproduction system under atmospheric oxygen concentration.

  • To produce reconstituted rabbit embryos with fetal fibroblasts, the present study was evaluated the efficiencies of the activation conditions as assessments of subsequent development and chromosome in the embryos. New Zealand White rabbits were used throughout the study. Fetal fibroblasts collected from 22-d of fetuses were cultured in DMEM+10% FBS in 5% CO₂ in air. The culture was maintained for 10 passages. In every passage half of cell suspension were kept in frozen. (omitted)

  • The computerized cardiac analysis system, which acquires and analyzes the electrical activation signal propagating along the surface of the heart, is indispensible equipment for the open heart surgery and electrical cardiac study. In this paper, the design requirement and the electrical circuit analysis are performed to construct the multi-channel cardiac activation pre-amplifier necessary for a signal conditioning circuit. The general 64 channel configuration is expanded into 128 channels to enhance the spatial resolution on the mapped surface of the heart. The 128 channels pre-amplifier consists of input circuit, differential amplifier, right leg driven circuit and isolation part. It has distinct features; high voltage protection, leakage current limitation, isolation and the maximization of common mode rejection ratio with respect to the half-cell potential difference due to different electrode materials. The final pre-amplifier circuit is assembled with 8 boards, each of which composing of 16 channels.

Mycobacterium fortuitum의 스테로이드 9${\alpha}$-하이드록실라제의 분리 및 부분정제 (Isolation and Partial Purification of the Steroid 9${\alpha}$-Hydroxylase from Mycobacterium fortuitum)

  • The steroid 9${alpha}$-hydroxylase activity has been detected in cytosol fraction, $100,00{\times}g$ supernatant of cell free extract of Mycobacterium fortuitum. The activity was not linear with protein concentration in the assay suggesting 9${alpha}$-hydroxylase is a multicomponent enzyme. The 9${alpha}$-hydroxylase system was partially purified through fractional saturation of ammonium sulfate, strong anion exchange (Mono Q) column chromatography, gel filtration (Superose 12) column chromatography, and testosterone affinity gel chromatography. Ammonium sulfate 50~60% saturated fraction of the cytosol gave 9${alpha}$-hydroxylase activity. For further purification, the half-saturated ammonium sulfate fraction was applied to Mono Q, Superose 12, or affinity gel column. The purification factors of 9${alpha}$-hydroxylase containing fraction after Mono Q, Superose 12, and affinity gel chromatography was 13, 11, and 17 respectively.
