Reactive oxygen species (ROS) have been implicated in the pathogenesis of various diseases. And vitamin C has shown a protective effect for the tissues. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of $H_2O_2$ and ascorbic acid on matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1), tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase (TIMP: TIMP-1, TIMP-2), Type 1 collagen, fibronectin, and PDLs22 level in human periodontal ligament fibroblasts (hPDLF) via reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). hPDLF was obtained from a healthy periodontium and cultured in Dulbecco's modified Eagles's medium plus 10% fetal bone serum. The concentration of ascorbic acid in hPDLF was $50{\mu}g/ml$, and that of $H_2O_2$ in hPDLF was 0.03% and 0.00003%. Ascorbic acid only, $H_2O_2$ only and mixture of ascorbic acid and $H_2O_2$ were applied with hPDLF for 1-, 3-, and 30-min. respectively. The gene expression of MMP-1-, TIMP-1-, TIMP-2-, Type 1 collagen-, fibronectin-, and PDLs22-mRNA in hPDLF was analysed via RT-PCR. The results were as follows; 1. hPDLF in response to 30-min. incubation with 0.03% $H_2O_2$ did not show any gene expression. 2. In all the experimental groups, the gene expression of fibronectin mRNA showed the decreased tendency compared to control. 3. In all the experimental groups, the gene expression of TIMP-1 mRNA showed the tendency similar to control. 4. hPDLF in response to 30-min. incubation with 0.03% $H_2O_2$ and ascorbic acid increased mRNA induction for MMP-1. 5. In all the experimental groups, hPDLF increased mRNA induction for PDLs22, collagen type 1, and TIMP-2 compared to control. Within the limited experiments, $H_2O_2$ and ascorbic acid increased mRNA induction for PDLs22, collagen type 1, TIMP-2 in hPDLF. More research will be needed in order to confirm the relative importance of the different roles of ROS and antioxidants in hPDLF from a periodontal regeneration or repair standpoint.

Bacillus licheniforntis에서 분비된 단백질 추출물에서 ammonium sulfate fractionation과 Sephadex G-75젤 여과 크로마토그라피를 사용하여 부분 정제된 2개의 서로 다른 활성을 갖는 단백질 분해 효소를 얻었다. 단백질 분해 효소 type l은 카제인에 대해 비교적 높은 활성을 보이며 organotluoride와 EOTA에 의한 억제에 매우 민감했다 이 효소의 최적 pH는 7.5였으며 $75^{\circ}C$에서 빠르게 변성되었다. 단백질 분해효소 type II는 type I에 비해 낮은 카제인 분해 활성을 보이며 ImM PMSF와 10mM EOTA용액과 함께 $37^{\circ}C$에서 30분 간 반응시키면 역사 활성이 억제되었다 한편 이 효소 는 pH 8.0에서 최대 활성을 나타내고 $71^{\circ}C$ 에서 상대적으로 늦게 불환성화 되었다.

An experimental study of heat transfer of submerged water jet impinging normally on a flat plate is presented. Heat transfer measurements obtained with Reverse cone type nozzle(Rcone) were compared to those obtained with Cone type nozzle(Cone) and Square edged type nozzle(Vert) of the same diameter(D=8mm) for different jet velocities in the range of $3{\sim}7m/s(Re_D=30000{\sim}70000)$ and various nozzle-to target spacings($H/D=2{\sim}10$). The local Nusselt number profiles exhibited a sharp drop for $r/D{\leq}0.5$ and 2nd, 3rd peaks revealed at r/D=2, 3 respectively, followed by a slower decrease there after. The peaks were weakened with increasing the nozzle-to target spacing and decreasing the jet velocity. The stagnation Nusselt number of the Reverse cone type nozzle was larger than those of the other two nozzles for H/D=2. 10, but Cone type nozzle had the highest value for $H/D=4{\sim}8$. Also average Nusselt number of the Reverse cone type nozzle was higher than those of the other two nozzles at $H/D=2{\sim}10$, except for $V_o=7ms$ of H/D=6.

Continuously variable transmission(CVT) mechanisms considered here combine the functions of a K-H-V type differential gear unit and a V-belt type continuously variable unit(CVU). As combining the functions of a K-H-V type differential gear unit and a V-belt type CVU, 24 different mechanisms are presented. Some useful theoretical formula related to speed ratio, power flow and efficiency are derived and analyzed. These mechanisms have many advantages which are the decrease of CVT size, the increase of overall efficiency, the extension of speed ratio range, and the generation of geared neutral.

The one step type and two step type pole are used in distribution line. If the three phases are not balanced, the communication line can be damaged by induced voltage. This paper calculates the neutral current using KEPCO's distribution system model which is only composed by one step type pole. The used system model is modelled by using ATPDraw and the neutral current is calculated by using EMTP/MODELS. Many cases for abstracting the neutral current characteristics in KEPCO's distribution system are simulated and analyzed.

Let ${\mathcal{H}}$ be an infinite dimensional complex Hilbert space, and let $B({\mathcal{H}})$ be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on ${\mathcal{H}}$. Recall that an operator $T{\in}B({\mathcal{H})$ has property B(n) if ${\mid}T^n{\mid}{\geq}{\mid}T{\mid}^n$, $n{\geq}2$, which generalizes the class A-operator. We characterize the property B(n) of weighted shifts $S_{\lambda}$ over (${\eta},\;{\kappa}$)-type directed trees which appeared in the study of subnormality of weighted shifts over directed trees recently. In addition, we discuss the property B(n) of weighted shifts $S_{\lambda}$ over (2, 1)-type directed trees with nonzero weights are being distinct with respect to $n{\geq}2$. And we give some properties of weighted shifts $S_{\lambda}$ over (2, 1)-type directed trees with property B(2).

Wide band gap p-type hydrogenated amorphous silicon oxide (a-SiO:H) buffer layer has been used at the interface of transparent conductive oxide (TCO) and hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) p-type layer of a p-i-n type a-Si:H solar cell. Introduction of 5 nm thick buffer layer improves in blue response of the cell along with 0.5% enhancement of photovoltaic conversion efficiency (η). The cells with buffer layer show higher open circuit voltage (Voc), fill factor (FF), short circuit current density (Jsc) and improved blue response with respect to the cell without buffer layer.

This paper describes the universal-type signaling service equipment which provides a signaling service function (R2 MFC, DTMF, Continuity check tone, and Audible tone sending and/or receiving) for call processing control in TDX-10 switching system. Based upon the structure of the TDX-10 switching system, the philosophy of design and technology on the universal-type signaling service equipment has been investigated in order to realize a reduction in size and cost, as well as assuring high reliability and flexible operation. Finally, the control method, fuctional operation and principal feature of the designed universal-type signaling service equipment have been described.
