The experiments were carried out to develop simulation model for estimating the yield of soybean in upland and paddy field condition. Field experiments were done at National Institute of Crop Science in 2005. The evaluated soybean cultivars were Taekwangkong, Daewonkong, and Hwangkeumkong. Soybean seeds were planted by hill seeding with 3-4 seeds and row and hill spacing were $60{\times}10cm$ in upland and $60{\times}15cm$ in paddy field. Seeds were sown on row (without making ridge) and on the top of ridge in upland and paddy field, respectively. Field parameters were measured yield components ($plants/m^{2}$, pod no./plant, and 100-seed weight, seed yield and growth characteristics (stem length, leaf area at each stage, and dry weight of shoot) and after measuring they were compared the relationships with seed yield and yield components and seed yield and growth characteristics. Seed yield of soybean was affected by cultivars and planting density. Seed yield was higher in upland than paddy field due to the higher planting density in upland field. The upland soybeans generally had lower 100-seed weight than that of paddy field. Seed yield of soybean in a paddy field was greatest in Taekwangkong and followed by Daewonkong and Hwangkeumkong. The harvest index of taekwangkong and Hwanggumkong was higher in upland than paddy field, however, it was higher in paddy field than upland in Daewonkong. Seed yield was greatest in Daewonkong in both experimental fields. The greatest stem length was observed in taekwangkong and Hwanggumkong (R6) in late growth stage in paddy field. Dry weight of shoot and pod, pod number, stem length, and stem diameter were higher grown in paddy field than grown in upland. Crop growth rate (CGR) of cultivars was higher in paddy field after 8 WAS(weeks after sowing) and it was greatest at 13 WAS in Daewonkong among the cultivars. In upland field, CGR was greatest in Taekwangkong and then followed by Daewonkong and Hwanggumkong during 12 and 15 WAS. There was no significant relationships between 100-seed weight and seed yield in both experimental fields. A significant positive relationship was observed between seed number and seed yield. The correlation coefficients between leaf area and shoot dry weight were about 0.8 during the whole growth stage except 5 WAS and 4-5 WAS in paddy field and upland, respectively. This experiment was done just one year and drained paddy field condition was not satisfied drained condition successfully at 7th leaf age of soybean by the heavy rain, so we suggest that the excessive soil water reduced seed yield in paddy field and the weather condition should be considered for utilizing of these results.
Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reaction converts syngas (mixture of CO and H2) to valuable hydrocarbon products. Simulation of low temperature Fischer -Tropsch Synthesis reaction and heat transfer at intensified process condition using catalyst filled single and multichannel microchannel reactor is considered. Single channel model simulation indicated potential for process intensification (higher GHSV of $30000hr^{-1}$ in presence of theoretical Cobalt based super-active catalyst) while still achieving CO conversion greater than ~65% and $C_{5+}$ selectivity greater than ~74%. Conjugate heat transfer simulation with multichannel reactor block models considering three different combinations of reactor configuration and coolant type predicted ${\Delta}T_{max}$ equal to 23 K for cross-flow configuration with wall boiling coolant, 15 K for co-current flow configuration with subcooled coolant, and 13 K for co-current flow configuration with wall boiling coolant. In the range of temperature maintained (498 - 521 K), chain growth probability calculated is desirable for low-temperature Fisher-Tropsch Synthesis.
The price competitiveness of photovoltaic system (PV system) has risen recently due to the growth of industries, however, it is rarely applied to the greenhouse compared to other renewable energy. In order to evaluate the application of PV system in the greenhouse, power generation and optimal installation area of PV panels should be analyzed. For this purpose, the prediction of the heating and cooling loads of the greenhouse is necessary at first. Therefore, periodic and maximum energy loads of a multi-span greenhouse were estimated using Building Energy Simulation(BES) and optimal installation area of PV panels was derived in this study. 5 parameter equivalent circuit model was applied to analyzed power generation of PV system under different installation angle and the optimal installation condition of the PV system was derived. As a result of the energy simulation, the average cooling load and heating load of the greenhouse were 627,516MJ and 1,652,050MJ respectively when the ventilation rate was $60AE{\cdot}hr^{-1}$. The highest electric power production of the PV system was generated when the installation angle was set to $30^{\circ}$. Also, adjustable PV system produced about 6% more electric power than the fixed PV system. Optimal installation area of the PV panels was derived with consideration of the estimated energy loads. As a result, optimal installation area of PV panels for fixed PV system and adjustable PV system were $521m^2$ and $494m^2$ respectively.
To predict the seasonal variation of dissolved oxygen (DO) in Hakata bay, Japan, possible 20 time-series of different hourly-solar-radiation intensities were generated based on stochastically changing solar radiation intensity, and a numerical simulation on dissolved oxygen (DO) was carried out for each time series by using the Sediment-Water Ecological Model (SWEM). The model, consisting of two sub-models with hydrodynamic and biological models, simulates the circulation process of nutrient between water column and sediment, such as nutrient regeneration from sediments as well as ecological structures on the growth of phytoplankton and zooplankton, The results of the model calibration followed the seasonal variation of observed water quality well, and generated cumulative-frequency-distribution (CFD) curves of daily solar radiation agreed well with observed ones, The simulation results indicated that the exchange of sea water would have a great influence on the DO concentration, and that the concentration could change more than 1 mg/L in a day. This prediction method seems to be an effective way to examine a solution to minimize fishery damage when DO is depleted.

Tower crane hoisting plan is one of the key element for the success of entire High-Rise Building construction. Hoisting time is the basic factor to appropriate hoisting plan which need to the hoisting load estimate and tower crane selection. With this reason, accurate hoisting time is needed to the proper hoisting plan. The current hoisting time estimation for High-Rise Building focus on the hoisting cycle time estimation with historical data. However, this method underestimated the external influences like environmental factor. Thus, this paper aims to develop the hoisting time estimation model with discrete event simulation which include the wind influences with certain height. According to the simulation result, the hoisting time which applied wind influence is increasing with height growth. Because of the high speed wind, the upper area of building has more operation delay time than the mechanical operation time. Seoul, the research area, has the most fastest wind speed on April and the least on October. Due to these differences of wind speed, the hoisting time is estimated with significant differences between April and October. This hosting time estimation model would be used for estimating the influence of wind. Moreover, this could apply to make the realistic hoisting plan.
In this study, flow duration analysis was conducted at the Gumbo stage gauging station due to construction of the Youngchun dam. The flow duration characteristics were $10.49\;m^3/s$ of drought flow, $13.30\;m^3/s$. of low flow, $15.65\;m^3/s$ of normal flow, and $25.00\;m^3/s$ abundant flow before construction of Youngchun dam. But after construction of Youngchun dam, the flow duration characteristics were $2.07\;m^^3/s,\;2.89\;m^3/s,\;4.0\;m^3/s,\;9.36\;m^3/s$ and they had been deteriorated. Applying the Physical Habitat Simulation Model by Instream Flow Incremental Methodology, the Weighted Usable Area(WUA)-Discharge Curve was developed for Zacco Platypus according to the growth stages. Using the WUA-Discharge Curve, the WUA Duration Curve was developed with exceedance probability of daily flow and evaluated fish habitat conditions due to the construction of Youngchun dam. As an evaluation result, the WUA was reduced and fish habitat environment was deteriorated due to the construction of Youngchun dam during the spawning and growth period of Zacco Platypus. However the exceedence probability of the $90\;\%$, irrigation water supply from the Youngchun dam improved flow duration characteristics and Weighted Usable Area as well as fish habitat.

As applications in extreme environments such as aerospace, high-energy plasma and radio-active circumstances increases, the demand for materials that require higher melting points, higher mechanical strength and improved thermal conductivity continues to increase. Accordingly, in order to improve the oxidation/abrasion resistance of the carbon-carbon composite, which is a typical heat-resistant material, a method of using ultra high temperature ceramics was reviewed. The advantages and disadvantages of CVD coating, pack cementation and thermal plasma spraying, the simplest methods for synthesizing ultra-high temperature ceramics, were compared. As a method for applying the CVD coating method to C/C composites with complex shapes, the possibility of using thermodynamic calculation and CFD simulation was proposed. In addition, as a result of comparing the oxidation resistance of the TaC/SiC bi-layer coating and TaC/SiC multilayer coating produced by this method, the more excellent oxidation resistance of the multilayer coating on C/C was confirmed.
In the present work, the capacity ratings of steel truss bridges have been carried out incorporating dynamic effect of moving vehicles and its accumulating effect as fatigue. Further, corrosion in the steel members has been taken into account to examine the rating factor. Dynamic effect has been considered in the rating procedure making use of impact factors obtained from simulation studies as well as from codal guidelines. A steel truss bridge has been considered to illustrate the approach. Two levels of capacity ratings- the upper load level capacity rating (called operating rating) and the lower load level capacity rating (called inventory rating) were found out using Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) method and a proposal has been made which incorporates fatigue in the rating formula. Random nature of corrosion on the steel member has been taken into account in the rating by considering reduced member strength. Partial safety factor for each truss member has been obtained from the fatigue reliability index considering random variables on the fatigue parameters, traffic growth rate and accumulated number of stress cycle using appropriate probability density function. The bridge has been modeled using Finite Element software. Regressions of rating factor versus vehicle gross weight have been obtained. Results show that rating factor decreases when the impact factor other than those in the codal provisions are considered. The consideration of fatigue and member corrosion gives a lower value of rating factor compared to those when both the effects are ignored. In addition to this, the study reveals that rating factor decreases when the vehicle gross weight is increased.

A modified ignition and growth(I&G) model which is necessary to simulate the combustion phenomena of energetic materials and an analytical model determining the unknown parameters of the reaction rate equation are proposed. The modified I&G model sustains important physical implications with overcoming some problems of previous rate equations. This rate model consists of ignition term which represents the formation of the hotspot due to void collapse and growth term which means the shock to detonation transition phenomena. Also, the theoretical model is used to investigate the combustion characteristics of certain energetic materials before running Hydrocode by pre-determination of unknown parameter, $b,\;G,\;x,\;I$. The analytical model provides efficient and highly accurate results rather than previous method which simulated the unconfined-rate-stick via the numerical means.

End milling process is one of the broadly used manufacturing process for precision machined parts and products. Machining performance is often limited by chatter vibration at the tool-workpiece interface. Chatter vibration is a type of machining self-excited vibration which originated from the variation in cutting forces and the flexibility of the machine tool structure. Even though lots of cutting tooling methods are developed and used in machining process, precise analysis of cutting tooling effect in view of chatter vibration behavior. This study presents numerical and experimental approaches to verify and effects of various cutting parameters to affect to chatter vibration stability. Acquired knowledge from this study will apply the optimal cutting conditions to improve a machining process.
