The purpose of this study is to analyze the interaction patterns and the commonly accepted norms of reaching a consensus among small-group children when solving open-ended problems. In conclusion, open-ended problems have various strategies or different acceptable answers, so they give children learning opportunities to compare the answers and to participate in communication. And more valuable interaction patterns come from 'measuring','classifying' problems and open-ended problems with implicit solution. Therefore, teachers might as well consider the relation between problems and interaction patterns when they pose open-ended problems in a small-group study setting. They are expected to empower children to have sociomathematical norms of reaching a consensus un der indirect and supportive guidance.

Background: Problem drinking is a perennial concern in the US fire service. A large literature has documented the importance of addressing alcohol norms in intervention research. The purpose of this study was to explore alcohol norms in a national cohort of firefighters (FFs) to inform intervention development in this occupational group. Methods: Data were from a national online survey of career and volunteer FFs (N = 674). Participants were recruited through national fire service listservs and a database of FFs who had agreed to be contacted for research. Results: When asked about "acceptable" levels of alcohol consumption, FFs on average suggested levels which exceeded public health guidelines. Further, approximately half of career and volunteer FFs believed that, at least under some circumstances, drinking until intoxicated was normative. When asked how long should elapse between a FFs last drink and reporting for duty, the average suggested lag was 11.2 hours (sd = 4.6). However, among male volunteer FFs who reported heavy drinking, the average was 6.68 hours (sd = 4.77). Conclusions: Given the high prevalence of heavy and binge drinking in the fire service, it is not surprising that the alcohol norms found in this study were consistent with a culture of drinking. Participants' reports of alcohol use among their peers were consistent with the actual prevalence of problem drinking. Thus, education and prevention efforts in this occupation should focus on changing norms about alcohol use, including linking heavy drinking to other health and safety issues they face.
The purpose of this research was to develop a typology of fair-trade apparel consumers and present a clear overview of the influence of product knowledge on consumer behaviors. A two-step cluster analysis was used to classify respondents into sub-groups based on their level of self-perceived knowledge and purchase experience. In addition, ANOVA was used to test the predictive validity of the cluster solution. Income was the only demographic variable that significantly differed across groups. The more familiar and more experienced group had higher income than the other groups. Psychographic data showed that attitudes and moral norms varied across groups. The more familiar and more experienced group had more positive attitudes and higher level of moral norms than the less familiar and less experienced group. In terms of behavioristic data, groups differed significantly in purchase intentions and willingness to pay more for fair-trade apparel. That is, the more familiar and more experienced group was willing to pay more and had higher purchase intentions than the less familiar and less experienced group. Overall, the level of product knowledge and purchase experience were considerably low. This study thus confirmed the need to increase consumers' familiarity related to fair-trade apparel products.
The purpose of this study is to arrange the modification and the changes of modern fniture in Korea. The results of this study are as follows: 1) The style of traditional furniture was influenced by changes in class structure and social system, an increase in Honsu norms in terms of both quantity and quality, family, marrige, housing patterns, and behavioral patterns etc. 2) Modern furniture in Korea devided into two groups, one was traditiional group of innovative function and scale, the other was electing group of Japanase or Western style. 3) Due to the Honsu norms, Wedding furniture items became more various in kind. Jangrong has been an essential Wedding furniture items since moderv.
Portfolio optimization in the presence of estimation error can be stabilized by incorporating norm-constraints; this result was shown by DeMiguel et al. (A generalized approach to portfolio optimization: improving performance by constraining portfolio norms, Management Science, 5, 798-812, 2009), who reported empirical performance better than numerous competing approaches. We extend the idea of norm-constraints by introducing a powerful enhancement, grouped selection for portfolio optimization. Here, instead of merely penalizing norms of the assets being selected, we penalize groups, where within a group assets are treated alike, but across groups, the penalization may differ. The idea of groupwise selection is grounded in statistics, but to our knowledge, it is novel in the context of portfolio optimization. Novelty aside, the real benefits of groupwise selection are substantiated by experiments; our results show that groupwise asset selection leads to strategies with lower variance, higher Sharpe ratios, and even higher expected returns than the ordinary norm-constrained formulations.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study is to identify how level of information affected intention, using the Theory of Planned Behavior. SUBJECTS/METHODS: The study was conducted survey in diverse community centers and shopping malls in Seoul, which yielded N = 209 datasets. To compare processed foods consumption behavior, we divided samples into two groups based on level of information about food additives (whether respondents felt that information on food additives was sufficient or not). We analyzed differences in attitudes toward food additives and toward purchasing processed foods, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and behavioral intentions to processed foods between sufficient information group and lack information group. RESULTS: The results confirmed that more than 78% of respondents thought information on food additives was insufficient. However, the group who felt information was sufficient had more positive attitudes about consuming processed foods and behavioral intentions than the group who thought information was inadequate. This study found people who consider that they have sufficient information on food additives tend to have more positive attitudes toward processed foods and intention to consume processed foods. CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests increasing needs for nutrition education on the appropriate use of processed foods. Designing useful nutrition education requires a good understanding of factors which influence on processed foods consumption.
Purpose: This study was conducted to compare self-care behaviors and self-care behavior related factors for groups of patients with good, inadequate and poor glycemic control. The study was based on variables of the Theory of Planned Behavior by Ajzen, habit and family support. (1991). Methods: Participants were 134 patients with type 2 diabetes (good glycemic control group: 57, inadequate glycemic control group: 40, poor glycemic control group: 37). Self-care behaviors, intention to self-care behavior and self-care behavior related variables (attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavior control, habits and family support) were measured. Data were collected from August 12 to September 25, 2014 and were analyzed using $x^2$-test, Fisher's exact test, ANCOVA, and logistic regression with SPSS/WIN 21.0. Results: Among the three glycemic groups, there were significant differences in self-care behavior, subjective norms, perceived behavior control, family support, and habits. Multinomial logistic regression showed that poor blood glucose probability was associated with duration of diabetes mellitus, method of DM therapy, perceived behavior control and habits. Conclusion: The study findings reveal the important role of self-care behavior, subjective norms, perceived behavior control, family support, and habits in blood glucose control in adults with type 2 diabetes.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the predictors of tuberculosis (TB) drugs in health care workers diagnosed with latent tuberculosis Infection (LTBI). Methods: This study was a descriptive correlation study. Data were collected by using a self-report questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed by -test, t-test, and logistic regression analysis. Results: There were involved 160 participants, 35 (21.9%) who took the TB drugs, and 125 (73.8%) who did not take the TB drugs. The predictors on taking TB drugs in health care workers with LTBI were subjective norms (OR=3.33, p<.001), perceived sensitivity (OR=2.67, p=.026), perceived barrier (OR=0.14, p=.014), and unmarried (OR=4.69, p=.006) than married, health care worker category 2 group (OR=5.84, p=.015) and 1 group (OR=4.25, p=.022) than 3, 4 group, sleep over 7 hours (OR=4.11, p=.022) than less 7 hours sleep. Conclusion: In order to promote the use of TB drugs in health care workers with LTBI, it is necessary that take intervention strategies to increase the subjective norms and perceived sensitivity and to decrease the perceived barriers.
