Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate whether mindful meditation programs conducted in ACT(Acceptance &Commitment Therapy) and MBCT(Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy) were effective in changing in depression and anxiety. Methods : In order to achieve this, we have performed meta-analysis of the studies on ACT and MBCT among studies published in the national academic journals, master thesis, and doctoral thesis. Dependent variables were limited to depressive and anxiety symptoms. By using meta analysis method, we retrieved journal articles published in Korea between 2009 and 2015 using keyword searches of electronic databases. Result : The results of the analysis showed that both ACT and MBCT had a significant effect on reducing depressive symptoms (Hedges' g = -0.71, p < 0.01). Both also had a significant effect on reducing anxiety symptoms (Hedges' g = -1.134, p < 0.01). These results imply that both ACT and MBCT interventions can be useful interventions for both depressive and anxiety symptoms. In the case of interventions for depressive symptoms, the college student group showed better results than the adult group. In addition, the ACT program had a stronger effect on reducing depressive symptoms than the MBCT program. In the case of interventions for anxiety symptoms, the mixed gender group showed better results than the female group. Conclusion : The results showed significant differences with regard to the following factors: participant gender, target participants, mindfulness technique availability, session number, and session duration.
Purpose: The purpose of the present study was to compare the effects of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) and static stretching on weight distribution and flexibility for trunk flexion. Method: Sixty participants who had no musculoskeletal disorders were recruited from a local university within six months of this study. The participants were randomly assigned to a PNF stretching group (N=30) and a static stretching group (N=32). For the pre-and post-measurement design, the left-right weight distribution, anterior-posterior weight distribution, and finger-to-floor distance (FFD) were measured before and after the stretching interventions. Result: The FFD results were significantly improved after the interventions, regardless of the group differentiation (p<0.05). The PNF stretching intervention significantly increased the differences between anterior and posterior weight distribution compared to the static stretching group (p<0.05). Conclusions: Both the PNF and static stretching interventions could improve flexibility for trunk flexion mobility. Although the PNF intervention improved the weight distribution in the anterior-posterior direction, further research is required to investigate the various PNF interventions on left-and-right and anterior-posterior weight distribution.

Purpose: Smoking cessation is strongly recommended for every smoker after ischemic stroke, but many patients fail to quit smoking. An improved smoking cessation rate has been reported with intensive behavioral therapy during hospitalization and supportive contact after discharge. The aim of this study was to demonstrate the usefulness of the timely interventions for smoking cessation in men with acute ischemic stroke. Methods: Patients who participated in the timely interventions strategy (TI group) were compared with those who received conventional counseling (CC group). In the TI group, a certified nurse provided comprehensive education during admission and additional counseling after discharge. Outcome was measured by point smoking success rate and sustained smoking cessation rate for 12 months. Results: Participants, 157 men (86 of the TI group and 71 of the CC group), were enrolled. Mean age was $58.25{\pm}11.23$ years and mean initial National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale score was $4.68{\pm}5.46$. The TI group showed a higher point smoking success rate compared with the CC group (p=.003). Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that the TI group was 2.96-fold (95% CI, 1.43~6.13) more likely to sustain smoking cessation for 12 months than the CC group. Conclusion: Findings indicate that multiple interventions initiated during hospital stay and regular follow-up after discharge are more effective than conventional smoking cessation counseling in men with acute ischemic stroke.

Background: Mature autogenous arteriovenous fistulas have better long term patency and require fewer secondary interventions compared to arteriovenous prosthetic graft. Our Study evaluated vascular patency rates and incidence of interventions in autogenous arteriovenous fistulas and grafts. Material and Methods: A total of 166 vascular access operations were performed in 153 patients between December 2002 and November 2009. Thirty seven caeses were excluded due to primary access failure and loss of follow-up. One group of 92 autogenous arterioveous fistulas and the other group of 37 arteriovenous prosthetic grafts were evaluated retrospectively. Primary and secondary patency rates were estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method. Results: The primary patency rate (84%, 67%, 51% vs. 51%, 22%, 9% at 1, 3, 5 year; p=0.0000) and secondary patency rate (96%, 88%, 68% vs. 88%, 65%, 16% at 1, 3, 5 year; p=0.0009) were better in autogenous fistula group than prosthetic graft group. Interventions to maintain secondary patency were required in 23% of the autogenous fistula group (average 0.06 procedures/patient/year) and 65% of prosthetic graft group (average 0.21 procedures/patient/year). So the autogenous fistula group had fewer intervention rate than prosthetic graft group (p=0.01) The risk factor of primary patency was diabetus combined with ischemic heart disease and the secondary patency's risk factor was age. Conclusion: Autogenous arteriovenous fistulas showed better performance compared to prosthetic grafts in terms of primary & secondary patency and incidence of interventions.
Purpose: The aims of this study were to (1) summarize the HF self-management interventions and (2) identify gaps and priorities for further investigation. Methods: A computer search of the literature over the past decade yielded 9 HF self-management studies. Six studies used non-experimental design; only 3 (33%) studies used quasi-experimental design which were included in this review. Results: The three pivotal HF self-management interventions studies were important because they highlight the positive effects of self-management compliance and other quality of life outcomes as well as discussing various issues. The informational booklet and telephone follow-up were the most common modalities in these interventions. The periodic telephone counseling offered in 2 studies effectively facilitated patient self-management compliance. There were some methodological flaws such as small sample sizes (range 8~21 in each group) and lack of experimental designs, long-term follow-up, and random group assignment. Additionally, the use of valid, reliable outcome measures is necessary to compare the effects of the interventions worldwide. Conclusion: More clinical evidence on HF self-management is needed using a larger sample size and the efficacy needs to be tested for various outcomes, including morbidity, mortality, and health care cost.
The purpose of this study was to identify nursing interventions performed by pediatric care unit nurses. For data collection this study used the taxonomy of Nursing Intervention Classification (NIC : 486 nursing intervention) which was modified by McCloskey & Bulecheck(2000). The 419 nursing interventions were selected by panel group, which consist of pediatric clinical experts and nursing scholars. The data were collected 104 nurses of pediatric care unit. There were 158 nursing interventions identified as being used at least monthly 50% or more of the nurses. The 32 nursing interventions were used at least daily, indication a set of core interventions unique to pediatric care unit practice. The most frequently used nursing interventions were 'Medication administration: intravenous' & 'Medication administration: oral'. The 27 nursing interventions were rarely performed by 90% or more of the nurses. The rarely used interventions were 'Ostomy care' & 'Rectal prolaps management'. The domain received the highest mean score was Health System, followed by Physiolocal: complex, Physiolocal: Basic, Safty, Community, Family, Behavior domain. These findings will help in building of a standardized language for the pediatric care units and enhance the quality of nursing care.
Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate digital interventions on psychological well-being in patients with cancer through an integrated review. Methods: Fifteen studies were selected using PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, DBpia, and RISS. The Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network was used by two reviewers to evaluate independently the quality of the selected articles. Results: Digital interventions for improving psychological well-being in cancer patients were most often based on cognitive behavioral therapy alone or a combination of interventions with professionals and other patients. In addition, a number of interventions were established on internet-based mindfulness therapy. Conclusions: Providing cognitive behavioral intervention alone did not significantly improve the level of depression or anxiety of patients with cancer. Meanwhile, interventions, including cognitive behavior therapy and interactions with professionals and other patients, were found to reduce significantly the level of depression or anxiety in the experimental group.

Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the content and effectiveness of psychosocial support interventions for women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Methods: The following databases were searched with no limitation of the time period: Ovid-MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, Ovid-Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO, NDSL, KoreaMed, RISS, and KISS. Two investigators independently reviewed and selected articles according to the predefined inclusion/exclusion criteria. ROB 2.0 and the RoBANS 2.0 checklist were used to evaluate study quality. Results: Based on the 14 selected studies, psychosocial support interventions were provided for the purpose of (1) informational support (including GDM and diabetes mellitus information; how to manage diet, exercise, stress, blood glucose, and weight; postpartum management; and prevention of type 2 diabetes mellitus); (2) self-management motivation (setting goals for diet and exercise management, glucose monitoring, and enhancing positive health behaviors); (3) relaxation (practicing breathing and/or meditation); and (4) emotional support (sharing opinions and support). Psychosocial supportive interventions to women with GDM lead to behavioral change, mostly in the form of self-care behavior; they also reduce depression, anxiety and stress, and have an impact on improving self-efficacy. These interventions contribute to lowering physiological parameters such as fasting plasma glucose, glycated hemoglobin, and 2-hour postprandial glucose levels. Conclusion: Psychosocial supportive interventions can indeed positively affect self-care behaviors, lifestyle changes, and physiological parameters in women with GDM. Nurses can play a pivotal role in integrative management and can streamline the care for women with GDM during pregnancy and following birth, especially through psychosocial support interventions.
