기후변화가 기상학적 가뭄과 홍수에 미치는 영향 (Climate Change Impacts on Meteorological Drought and Flood)

  • 최근 온실기체의 증가로 인한 극기상현상의 발생빈도가 증가할 것으로 예상된다. 본 연구에서는 이미 연구된 여러가지 GCM 모의결과와 마코프 연쇄를 이용하여 기후변화를 고려한 수문자료의 모의발생을 실시하였다. 또 적절한 지수를 이용하여 미래시점의 가뭄과 홍수 발생의 변동 가능폭을 예측하였다. 그 결과 시나리오에 따라 극심한 가뭄과 홍수의 발생빈도가 증가할 것으로 예상되어 현재 상태보다 수자원의 계획과 관리에 많은 어려움이 닥칠 것으로 보인다. 향후 수자원 정책에는 기후변화가 수자원에 미치는 영향이 포함되어야 할 것이다.

$SF_6$ 대체가스 연구동향 (Trends on the Research for Alternatives of $SF_6$ Gas)

  • Environmental impact of human activities has become a great concern in most of the countries world-wide, and for years. It has recently focused on potential climate changes due to the increase of green house gases content in the atmosphere. One of these gases is $SF_6$, which is an essential material in electrical applications having excellent dielectric and arc-quenching properties. Though the actual contribution of $SF_6$ to global warming is negligible at present, the control of $SF_6$ emissions seems to be nevertheless imperative. Actually, it is listed in the Kyoto protocol that emissions should not only be duly reported but also the electrical industry which is now the major user of this gas must be able to show that it is possible to use this gas and at the same time preserve the environment. For the development of environmentally-benign electric power equipment and systems, novel gases or gas mixtures are strongly required as the alternatives of $SF_6$ gas. Until now, most research work is focused on the $SF_6/N_2$ mixed gas which is suitable for application in the electrical apparatus with slightly non-uniform fields. Recently, $SF_6/CO_2$ mixed gas also is expected to be promising as a $SF_6$ alternative, especially in highly non-uniform fields and in a gas-impregnated film insulation system. Including these results, the author reviews the research trend or reducing the environmental impact of $SF_6$ gas in this paper.

  • Railway has recently played an important role in preventing global warming caused by green house gases and furthering a low carbon green growth, The various railway research centers have conducted facilitated studies on saving energy. In particular, urban railway has emerged as the best means of public transportation in terms of punctuality, safety and environmentally friendliness. There are various ways to save energy in terms of operation of urban railway system, and they can be generally divided into hardware aspects that pertain to structure of vehicles and development of control system and software aspects that pertain to effective operation of trains based on operation patterns and diagram control. In this paper, we investigated drive assistance system for railway energy efficiency. The railway operation patterns and train diagram management programs were researched.

기후변화를 고려한 하수처리공법별 온실가스 및 슬러지 배출량 산정 및 환경성 평가 (Estimate and Environmental Assessment of Greenhouse Gas(GHG) Emissions and Sludge Emissions in Wastewater Treatment Processes for Climate Change)

  • 최근 국제법에 의해 하수처리장에서 발생되는 슬러지의 해양투기가 금지됨에 따라 하수처리 과정 중 발생된 슬러지의 처리방법이 문제가 되고 있다. 일반적으로 하수 및 슬러지는 혐기성조건에서 최종처리되며, 이과정 중 메탄$(CH_{4})$ 및 아산화질소$(N_{2}O)$가 배출되어 하수처리장은 지구온난화가스의 배출원으로 알려져 있다. 따라서, 하수처리장에서 발생하는 지구온난화 가스 배출량을 고려할 필요가 있으며, 지구온난화 가스 배출을 최소화할 수 있는 최적의 하수처리 공정 및 슬러지처리에 대한연구 필요성이 증가하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 주요생물학적 하수처리공정에 따른 온실가스 발생량 및 슬러지 배출량을 계산하며, 이에 따라 온실가스 배출을 최소화하는 하수 및 슬러지처리방법을 제시하고자 한다. 생물학적 하수처리공정으로는 Anaerobic/Anoxic/Oxidation$(A_{2}O)$, Bardenpho, Virginia Initiative Plant (VIP), University of Cape Town(UCT)을 이용하였으며, 동력학적 하수처리모델링 프로그램인 GPS-X를 이용해 본 공정의 모델링을 수행하였다. 이를 바탕으로 하수처리과정에서 발생하는 온실가스 및 슬러지 배출량을 계산하며, 이를 통해 온실가스 배출을 최소화하는 공정을 선택하였다. 온실가스 및 슬러지 배출량은 2006 IPCC 가이드라인에서 제시한 식을 통해 계산되었다. 또한 다양한 슬러지 처리 시나리오(퇴비화, 소각, 매립)에 대한 환경성평가를 수행하였으며, 이를 통해 각 시나리오의 결과를 하나의 지표로써 비교 평가하였다. 본 연구결과, 4가지 하수처리공법 중 Bardenpho 공법에서 환경성이 가장 좋은 것으로 나타났으며, 슬러지 처리 시나리오 중 퇴비화가 온실가스를 가장 적게 배출하였다.

녹색기업의 사업활동 전 과정에 대한 환경성 평가 -1. 공정 흐름 및 원단위 분석 (Life Cycle Assessment for the Business Activities of Green Company -1. Analysis of Process Flow and Basic Unit)

  • In this paper, an environmental assessment was carried out on the whole process of industrial business activities to establish a basic plan for climate change mitigation and energy independency. The whole process was divided into each discharge process in terms of water, air, solid waste, green house gases and refractory organic compounds. The flowcharts and basic unit of process were analysed for three years (2008-2010), being utilized as basic information for the life cycle assessment. It was found that the unit loading for the whole process significantly depends on changes in the operation rate change and highly concentrated wastewater inflow. About 35% of solid waste production was reduced by improving the incineration method with co-combustion in coal boiler, generating about 57% of electricity used for the whole process, and consequently reducing the energy costs. As the eco-efficiency index was found to be more than 1, compared to the previous years, it can be said that improvement in general has taken place.

평면예혼합화염중의 N2O 농도변화에 관한 실험연구 (An Experimental Study of N2O Concentration Profiles in Planner Premixed Flame)

  • The Marine Environment Protection Committee(MEPC) which is the IMO's specialized committee on marine pollution related matters deals with GHG related issues to discuss and compile possible approaches on technical, operational and market based measures to address GHG emissions from ships. The nitrous oxide($N_2O$) which remains generally in the atmosphere for around 114 years is one of the green house gases. The global warming potential of $N_2O$ is 310 times than $CO_2$ in the given period 100 years. It seems that the $N_2O$ formation is influenced by the nitrogen compound contained in the fuel which is named as "Fuel N" during the combustion process or the NOx, SOx and $H_2O$ through the emission gases before exhausted into the atmosphere. This paper has carried out an experimental study of the $N_2O$ concentration profiles by the change of $NH_3$ flows in the planner premixed combustion with using $C_3H_8$ and air.

우리나라 주택분야 내 목제품의 탄소저장량 추정 (An Estimation of Carbon Stocks in Harvested Wood Products in Korean Houses)

  • 목재는 연소나 분해되기 전까지 산림이 흡수한 이산화탄소를 장기간에 걸쳐 목제품 내에 저장한다. 이러한 목제품이 가장 많이 사용되는 곳은 종이 및 펄프를 제외하면 주택분야로서 주택 내의 목재사용은 온실가스 배출량 감축에 중요한 역할을 한다. 따라서 우리나라 주택 내에 사용되고 있는 목제품의 탄소저장량은 어느 정도인지 추정하였고, 이러한 주택 내에 사용한 목제품의 탄소저장량이 온실가스 배출량 감축에 어느 정도 기여하고 있는지를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 우리나라 주택 내 목제품의 탄소저장량은 2010년 현재 28.4백만 $tCO_2$으로 2007년 기준 우리나라 연간 온실가스 총 배출량(620백만 $tCO_2$)의 약 4.6%, 토지이용, 토지이용변화 및 산림부분(LULUCF) 흡수량의 약 77.4%에 해당하는 것으로 분석되었다. 이러한 주택분야의 온실가스 배출량 감축 역할은 목재사용량이 가장 많은 목조주택이 거의 없음에 불구하고 2010년 주택 내 목제품의 탄소저장량이 1975년 대비 약 4.1배(21.4백만 $tCO_2$)증가한 것은 1980년대 후반부터 본격화된 아파트 건설의 의한 탄소저장량이 증가하였기 때문이다.

  • Light detection and ranging (LIDAR) is one of the effective technologies for monitoring forest inventory, and importance of forestry is increasing because of its function as the sink of green house gases (GHG). This study aims at development of a methodology for better and more accurate estimation of physical parameters of individual trees by removing sudden drops of LIDAR data within a crown. Our study area is located in Aomori prefecture, the northern part of Honshu Island, with the dominant species of Japanese cedar. The results show practicality of our method in the usage of LIDAR data in the field of forest inventory.

  • The purpose of this paper is to analyze AC Breakdown of solid/air composite insulation depending on the thickness and the pressure of dry air for eco-friendly insulation. SF6 gas has been widely used in electric equipment as gas insulation because of high dielectric strength and arc extinguishing performance. However, because SF6 gas is one of the green house effect gases, alternative insulation such as SF6 mixture, extremely low temperature gas, vacuum, liquid and solid insulating are being investigated.

규모의 경제와 탄소세의 경제적 효과: CGE모형을 이용한 분석 (Scale Economies and The Effects of A Carbon Tax on Korean Economy : A Cournot-Walrasian CGE Simulation)

  • The carbon tax is one of several measures to reduce the green-house gases emitted from burning the fossil fuels, which has been much discussed internationally. The analyses of the effects of a carbon tax on individual countries have been carried out by applying the computable general equilibrium(CGE) models, especially models with the assumption of non-existence of scale economies. However, the introduction of scale economies to CGE models changes the simulation results drastically. In this paper, two CGE models are used to compute and compare the economic and $CO_2$ reduction effects of a carbon tax, one of with is the model with scale economies and the other is without scale economies. One of main results is that the analysis using the CGE model without scale economies may underestimate the effects of a carbon tax on GDP and reducing the emission of $CO_2$.
