Binary black hole mergers are one of the important candidate of gravitational wave (GW) emission. Recently a successful GW observation was done by LIGO team, but it is still uncertain how many GW signals will be observable. In this research, we perform simplified N-body simulations containing three mass components, ordinary stars with two kind of stellar mass black holes. Various BH compositions are tested to investigate the effect of BH mass function on binary formation rate. As a result, we find the binary formation rate is not much affected by BH mass function and always around 30 %, but the detectable merging binaries are largely depend on higher mass BH population.
Vibration is expected to occur in microtubules as tubular heterodimers. They oscillate like electric dipoles. Several research studies have estimated a frequency of vibration using the orthotropic model, a beam or rod like models and shell models, considering the surface forces. The effects of body forces on the dynamics of the microtubules were not yet taken into account. This study seeks to capture the body force effects on the vibration modes generated and on the corresponding frequency for microtubules. An orthotropic elastic shell model for the structural details of microtubules is used for the analysis. The tests are conducted out for microtubules, exposed to electro-magnetic and gravitational forces, the transverse vibration, radial mode vibration, and axial mode of vibration have accomplished. We therefore, evaluate and compare microtubules' frequencies with prior results of vibration frequency without the effects of body force.

The 7-dimensional Telescope (7DT) is an innovative multiple telescope system that can perform a rapid identification of optical counterparts of gravitational-wave (GW) sources and a wide variety of other astronomical projects. This telescope is being developed as a part of the recently approved National Challenge program, the GW Universe project, with a full operation planned at the end of 2023. The word 7-dimension stands for x, y, z positions, the radial velocity, the time, the wavelength, and the flux of astronomical sources, implying the telescope's capability of performing time-series wide-field, IFU-type spectroscopic observations. The 7DT is composed of about twenty 0.5-m wide-field telescopes, and it can obtain spectral-imaging data at 40 different wavelengths to the depth of 20 AB mag with 3 min exposure for a given epoch. In this talk, we will introduce the telescope system, and outline its scientific capabilities with an emphasis on multi-messenger astronomy and a few other key science topics.

In recent towing tank experiments, it has been observed that a ship moving near the critical speed $\sqrt{gh}$(g=gravitational acceleration, h=water depth) radiates solitons upstream in an almost periodic manner. As a ,consequence, the ship experiences considerable changes in resistance, trim and sinkage, or better known as squat. Mei and Choi(1987) developed a nonlinear theory for a slender ship by using the method of matched asymptotic expansions. For a certain class of channel width and ship slenderness, they found that the waves generated can be described by an inhomogeneous Korteweg-de Vries(KdV) equation. The leading-order solution properly predicts solitons propagating upstream, but it fails to render three-dimensional waves in the wake. In this paper a new approach has been made by choosing a different class of channel width and ship slenderness. The wave equation in the farfield turns out to be a homogeneous Kadomtsev-Petviashvili(KP) equation, which predicts solitons upstream and three-dimensional waves in the wake. Numerical results for the wave resistance, sinkage and trim reflect the experimentally identified phenomena.

The dynamic responses of a 5 MW wind turbine lifted by a floating crane with two elastic booms are analyzed. Dynamic equations of motions of a multibody system that consists of a floating crane, two elastic booms, and a wind turbine are derived. The six-degree-of-freedom (DOF) motions for the floating crane and the wind turbine are considered in the equations of motions. The hydrostatic force, the hydrodynamic force due to a regular wave, the mooring force, the wire rope force, and the gravitational force are considered as external forces. By solving the equations numerically, the dynamic responses of cargo are simulated. The simulation results are compared with those in the case of one elastic boom. Finally, the dynamic responses of the wind turbine lifted by the floating crane are analyzed under regular wave condition.
Although the era of very large telescopes has come, small telescopes still have advantages for fast follow-up and long-term monitoring observation. Intensive monitoring survey of nearby galaxies (IMSNG) aims to understand the nature of the supernovae (SNe) by catching the early light curve from them with the network of small telescopes from 0.4-m to 1.0-m all around the world. To achieve the scientific goals with heterogeneous facilities, three factors are important. First, automatic processes as soon as data is uploaded will increase efficiency and shorten the time. Second, searching for transients is necessary to deal with newly emerged transients for fast follow-up observation. Finally, the Integrated process for different telescopes gives a homogeneous output, which will eventually make connections with the database easy. Here, we introduce the integrated pipeline, 'gppy' based on Python, for more than 10 facilities having various configurations and its performance. Processes consist of image pre-process, photometry, image align, image combine, photometry, and transient search. In the connected database, homogeneous output is summarized and analyzed additionally to filter transient candidates with light curves. This talk will suggest the future work to improve the performance and usability on the other projects, gravitational wave electromagnetic wave counterpart in Korea Observatory (GECKO), and small telescope network of Korea (SOMANGNET).
We introduce the Lee Sang Gak Telescope (LSGT), a remotely operated, robotic 0.43-meter telescope. The telescope was installed at the Siding Spring Observatory, Australia, in 2014 October, to secure regular and exclusive access to the dark sky and excellent atmospheric conditions in the southern hemisphere from the Seoul National University (SNU) campus. Here, we describe the LSGT system and its performance, present example images from early observations, and discuss a future plan to upgrade the system. The use of the telescope includes (i) long-term monitoring observations of nearby galaxies, active galactic nuclei, and supernovae; (ii) rapid follow-up observations of transients such as gamma-ray bursts and gravitational wave sources; and (iii) observations for educational activities at SNU. Based on observations performed so far, we find that the telescope is capable of providing images to a depth of R = 21:5 mag (point source detection) at 5-σ with 15 min total integration time under good observing conditions.
The influence of magnetic field on propane and acetylene diffusion flames have been experimentally investigated using an electromagnetic system. Periodically induced magnetic field having various frequencies and duty ratios was established in square wave form. The maximum intensity and gradient of magnetic field were 1.3 T and 0.27 T/mm, respectively. The width of a propane flame was reduced up to 4.5% and the brightness was enhanced up to 25% when the magnetic field was induced. The soot emission from an acetylene flame was ceased when magnetic field was induced. The alteration of flow field, which is due to the paramagnetic characteristics of oxygen molecule, is most likely to be responsible for the change in flame size and brightness. The effect of magnetic field on diffusion flames, which competes with the gravitational effect, was more apparent from a smaller size flame. The magnetic field effect, therefore, could be important under microgravity conditions. Since the time required to alter the flow field must be finite, the magnetic field effect is likely to be less significant for a periodically oscillating magnetic field at a high frequency or having a small duty ratio.
We develop a parallel cosmological hydrodynamic simulation code designed for the study of formation and evolution of cosmological structures. The gravitational force is calculated using the TreePM method and the hydrodynamics is implemented based on the smoothed particle hydrodynamics. The initial displacement and velocity of simulation particles are calculated according to second-order Lagrangian perturbation theory using the power spectra of dark matter and baryonic matter. The initial background temperature is given by Recfast and the temperature uctuations at the initial particle position are assigned according to the adiabatic model. We use a time-limiter scheme over the individual time steps to capture shock-fronts and to ease the time-step tension between the shock and preshock particles. We also include the astrophysical gas processes of radiative heating/cooling, star formation, metal enrichment, and supernova feedback. We test the code in several standard cases such as one-dimensional Riemann problems, Kelvin-Helmholtz, and Sedov blast wave instability. Star formation on the galactic disk is investigated to check whether the Schmidt-Kennicutt relation is properly recovered. We also study global star formation history at different simulation resolutions and compare them with observations.
