  • Studies were conducted to determine the clinical application of photodiode. We compared photodiode with ion-chamber as to change of tube potential, tube current, mAs and measured decreasing rate of penetration dose. When tube potential was changed from 60 kVp to 120 kVp, output of photodiode and ion-chamber were changed from 0.4 to 1.625, and 1.018 to 4.268, respectively. This was a good agreement to theory that $I=Kv^2it$(I is intensity, K is constant, v is tube potential, i is tube current, t is time). Characteristics for change of tube current and mAs were also a good agreement to theory. And comparison in decreasing rate of penetration dose was similar except above 6 cm in depth. Our results indicated that photodiode was a good instrument for relative measurement of radiation exposure, but we can not use the photodiode for absolute radiation dose.

  • This experimental study was to determine the fitness on each cervical margin of recast using crown base metal alloy. The alloy used in this experimental study was a Ni-Cr alloy(Wirolloy, Bego, Germany) for the fabrication of full cast crown prosthesis. Twenty-five copings were divided into the five groups. And the group A, B, C, D and E were cording successively according to the frequency of recast to five times. Each specimen was recasted without adding new metal. The experimental results were as follows: 1. The group A and B showed good fitness had subtle differences in each cervical margin adaptation, in other words, the mesio and disto cervical margin showed worse adaptation than the bucco and linguo cervical margin. 2. The group C got good fitness in bucco and linguo cervical margins, but the mesio and disto cervical margin showed inaccurate fitness. And I could not get good casting bodies without adding new metal. 3. The group D and E showed bad fitness for each cervical margin. Therefore the group D and E lost its function as a dental restoration.

  • This research is a described result of experimental for the parameter's effecting the microhole machining by Nd-Yag laser, The parameters are energy, pulse interval time a kin of assisting gas and its pressure. The result reveals that parameter value of energy 0.08J, pulse 20Hz, interval time of 300 microseconds could be a good machining condition to make upper microhoel that is the diameter range of 50-70${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. At tat time the assistant gas such air, $O_2$, Ar $N_2$, was appelied. Assistant gas of air makes heat affected zone enlarge due to burning of material surface. Also it makes microhole irregular and damageable. Because of refusion caused by chemical reaction with $Al_2O_3$ ceramic material . The $O_2$(99.9%) has good characteristics to get good drilling and smooth surface on pressure of 0.2kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ but it is expensive. Ar, $N_2$ make material crack and burnning and proved that to be unappropriate but, Ar was a better than $N_2$.

  • The S.G. Policy form contains the words "the good ship or vessel called the.....". The words "good ship" mean that the ship is deemed to be seaworthy at the commencement of the voyage and this was very necessary in the day when a separate policy was issued for each voyage. In fact the warranty do seaworthiness still applies to all voyage policies. Nevertheless, the law does not apply an absolute warranty of seaworthiness to a time policy, so a ship is not required to be seaworthy at the time the hull policy is effected. The implied warranty of seaworthiness does not extend to good, for the underwriter is not responsible for their condition, apart fro the action of the perils insured against. The implied warranty of seaworthiness is limited to the vessel herself, and does not extend to a lighter or other craft used to convey the goods to the ship. The underwriters waive any breach of the implied warranties of the seaworthiness of the ship and fitness of the ship to carry the subject-matter insured to destination, unless the assured or their servants are privy to such unseaworthiness of unfitness.

  • This study aims to find out the growth characteristics of riparian plants on the artificial floating islands (AFI). Three types of experiments were performed. The vegetation growth were compared by the plant-supporting materials; natural cotton mat, coir mat on the AFI or in the water, and natural soil at the waterfront. Major findings are; 1. The survival rate of riparian plants was 100% on both coir-mat and cotton-matislands, which implies that we may substitute cheaper cotton for expensive coir-mat. 2. Both natural cotton mat and coir mat were good for the growth of plants. Especially, the natural cotton mat was good for Sparganium stoloniferum and Miscanthus sacchariflorus, and the coir mat was good for Typha latifolia. 3. The growth rate of stem and root showed difference between the stem-removed plants and stem-remaining plants. As a whole, the growth rate of stem-removed plants was bigger than the one of stem-remaining plants. 4. The growth rate of plants showed difference between those grown on the AFI and those grown in the water. The growth rate of plant on the AFI was bigger than the one in the water. 5. The growth rate of plants on the AFI was bigger than the one on the natural soil at the waterfront.

  • This paper describes the development of moving watched chamber. For the most part, the watched chamber have been located in the inner-bay. But, there are many problems of sea-water pollution. Therefore, the watched chamber must be relocated to undeveloped coastal area. The watched chamber which is located in the bay has a bit of damage by bad weather. But, the moving watched chamber would be exposed to bad water. It is desirable to improve the system of chamber. If we make a good design of the moving watched chamber with studying of waves and hydrodynamics, it would be possible to culture fish at the coastal sea area. When a fixed system is changed into a movable one, we can obtain the following advantages: 1. The possibility of diminishing the sea water pollution, easying the overcrowded state in a inner-bay farm, and relieved of limitation caused by bad conditions such as waves, red tides and terrains. 2. It would be easy not only to move the watched chamber system in accordance with weather conditions or occurrence of red tides, but also to select good sites for watched chamber fishes. 3. Transportation and good supervision with the automated design system can results with the effectiveness which increases the amount of aquatic products.

  • When testing products before shipment to the customer, quality characteristics are measured to decide whether or not their values are between the specification limits. Unfortunately, this testing procedure can lead to incorrect decisions because of gauge error. That is, good products can erroneously be qualified as bad, and bad products as good, and this has consequences for producer's and consumer's risk. In cases of such as this, the compressed gauge limit can be used to achieve the desired product quality level dictated by the manufacturer or the customer. A compressed gauge limit is a limit set by the manufacturer on a test gauge that is tighter than the specification limit established by the customer. The compressed gauge limits should be set at levels to achieve the defect levels desired by the customer and simultaneously minimize the loss of good product that is rejected due to errors in the gauges. In this article, the models for determining the defect levels and the losses obtained by adding compressed gauge limits will be developed. A response surface model approach is utilized which allows an optimal operating condition to be generated relatively easily.

  • Transition-metal-embedded carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been accepted as a novel type of sensing material due to the combined advantage of the transition metal, which possesses good catalytic behavior for gas interaction, and CNTs, with large effective surface areas that present good adsorption ability towards gas molecules. In this work, we simulate the adsorption of $O_2$ and $O_3$ onto Rh-doped CNT in an effort to understand the adsorbing behavior of such a surface. Results indicate that the proposed material presents good adsorbing ability and capacities for these two gases, especially $O_3$ molecules, as a result of the relatively large conductivity changes. The frontier molecular orbital theory reveals that the conductivity of Rh-CNT would undergo a decrease after the adsorption of two such oxidizing gases due to the lower electron activity and density of this media. Our calculations are meaningful as they can supply experimentalists with potential sensing material prospects with which to exploit chemical sensors.

  • Ruthenium is one of the noble metals having good thermal and chemical stability, low resistivity, and relatively high work function(4.71eV). Because of these good physical, chemical, and electrical properties, Ru thin films have been extensively studied for various applications in semiconductor devices such as gate electrode for FET, capacitor electrodes for dynamic random access memories(DRAMs) with high-k dielectrics such as $Ta_2O_5$ and (Ba,Sr)$TiO_3$, and capacitor electrode for ferroelectric random access memories(FRAMs) with Pb(Zr,Ti)$O_3$. Additionally, Ru thin films have been studied for copper(Cu) seed layers for Cu electrochemical plating(ECP) in metallization process because of its good adhesion to and immiscibility with Cu. We investigated Ru thin films by thermal ALD with various deposition parameters such as deposition temperature, oxygen flow rate, and source pulse time. Ru thin films were grown by ALD(Lucida D100, NCD Co.) using RuDi as precursor and $O_2$ gas as a reactant at 200~$350^{\circ}C$.

  • Although DLC coatings have good tribological properties, these are dependant on the deposition method, the property of contact surface, and test condition. Humidity, which has little influence on tribological behavior in macro scale, is an important factor of tribological behavior in small devices like MEMS. The objective of this study is to investigate the tribological behavior of DLC coatings with particular attention to their wettability at various humidities. DLC coatings were deposited on Si substrates and tested using a reciprocating friction tester against Si$_3$N$_4$balls at various humidities. The results showed that the tribological behavior of DLC coatings was dependant on relative humidity and wettablility of DLC coatings. Friction coefficient at high relative humidity was higher thar that at low relative humidity. The tungsten-containing DLC coatings had a good wear resistance at low relative humidity whereas DLC coatings derived from argon(Ar)+cesium(Cs) gases showed a good wear resistance at high relative humidity.
