  • The role of river in the global water cycles and the modelling the horizontal water transport by rivers in the global scale are discussed. Due to the consolidation of the various hydrological information of the planet, now it is possible to monitor and simulate the quantity of the water carried by rivers. Land surface models that were developed originally for giving the boundary condition of the atmospheric and/or climatic models can be fairly used for river runoff simulations at least monthly scale, and it is promissing the approach will be a powerful tool to investigate the future water resources management.

  • This research attempts to identify growth potential of e-logistics market and opportunities provided by its growth; analyze requirements and critical success factors for logistics industries to make most of such opportunities; and analyze various strategic alternatives for e-logistics industries. Subsequently this paper looks at strategies that may enable logistics companies to grow into competitive e-logistics and e-fulfillment companies. This would involve the close interface between advances in IT and logistics activities and formation of global strategic alliances.

  • We investigate global bifurcation in the subharmonic motion of a circular plate with one-to-one internal resonance. A system of autonomous equations are obtained from the partial differential equations governing the system by using Galerkin's procedure and the method of multiple scales. A perturbation method developed by Kovacic and Wiggins is used to find Silnikov type homoclinic orbits. The conditions under which the orbits occur are obtained.

  • This paper briefly outline the approach we are now setting for improving the existing global ocean tidal charts in next few years. There has been notable progress in predicting global ocean tide in mid 90s to improve correction procedures for tidal signals in altimetry with more accurate tidal models (http://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/) than existing ones. • In this paper, we study the global existence of solutions for the initial value problems for Volterra-Fredholm type functional impulsive integrodifferential equations. Using the Leray-Schauder Alternative, we derive conditions under which a solution exists globally.

  • This paper investigated the influence of foreign words, otherwise known as loan words, on global communication abilities of university students from two non English-speaking countries: Korea and Japan. To survey the understanding and usage of foreign words which are from English language and used frequently in daily conversation, questionnaires were administered to Korean and Japanese university students majoring in engineering who shared similar linguistic backgrounds. The results were analyzed from global communication viewpoint. Based on the results, methods for improving global communication skills in engineering education were proposed.

  • A field-sequential color projection system can display color images using panel. However, it suffers from a characteristic trichromatic separation known as "color breakup". The viewing of images exhibiting color breakup may cause visual fatigue and mental stress. In this study, the authors examine, from the standpoint of human factors, the objective and subjective symptoms that can result from the viewing of images with color breakup.
