  • Recently, 3D reconstruction of real objects with multi-cameras has been widely used for many services such as VR/AR, motion capture, and plenoptic video generation. For accurate 3D reconstruction, geometry and color matching between multiple cameras will be needed. However, previous calibration and correction methods for geometry (internal and external parameters) and color (intensity) correction is difficult for non-majors to perform manually. In this paper, we propose a toolkit with procedural geometry calibration and color correction among cameras with different positions and types. Our toolkit consists of an easy user interface and turned out to be effective in setting up multi-cameras for reconstruction.

  • Compressed sensing in image reconstruction has attracted attention and many studies are proposed. As we know, adding prior knowledge about the distribution of the support on the original signal to CS can improve the quality of reconstruction. However, it is still difficult for a recovery framework adjusts its strategy for exploiting the prior knowledge efficiently according to the current estimated signals in serial iterations. With the theory of information geometry, we propose an adaptive strategy based on the current estimated signal in each iteration of the recovery. We also improve the performance of existing algorithms through the adaptive strategy for exploiting the prior knowledge according to the current estimated signal. Simulations are presented to validate the results. In the end, we also show the application of the model in the image.

  • This paper presents 3D graphics geometry processor for mobile applications. Geometry stage needs to cope with the large amount of computation. Geometry stage consists of transformation process and lighting process. To deal with computation in geometry stage, the vector processor that is based on pipeline chaining is proposed. The performance of proposed 3D graphics geometry processor is up to 4.3M vertex/sec at 100 MHz. Also, the designed processor is compliant with OpenGL ES that is widely used for standard API of embedded system. The proposed structure can be efficiently used in 3D graphics accelerator for mobile applications.

  • The purpose of this study is to create an interactive tool Geometry Player for geometric explorations. In designing this software, we referred to van Hiele's geometric learning theory of and Duval's cognitive comprehension theory of geometric figures. With Geometry Player, it is easy to construct and manipulate dynamic geometric figures. Teachers can easily present the dynamic process of geometric figures in class, and students can use it as a leaning tool to construct geometric concepts by themselves. It is hoped that Geometry Player can be a useful assistant for teachers and a nice partner for students. A brief introduction to Geometry Player and some application examples are included in this paper.

  • Recently, many scan projects are gradually increasing for maintenance, construction. The scan data contains useful data, which can be generated in the target application from the facility, space. However, modeling the scan data required for the application requires a lot of cost. In example, the converting 3D point cloud obtained from scan data into 3D object is a time-consuming task, and the modeling task is still very manual. This research proposes Scan-to-Geometry Mapping Rule Definition (S2G-MD) which maps point cloud data to geometry for irregular building plane objects. The S2G-MD considers user use case variability. The method to define rules for mapping scan to geometry is proposed. This research supports the reverse engineering semi-automatic process for the building planar geometry from the user perspective.

  • A part definition must not only provide shape information of a nominal part but also contain non-shape information such as tolerances, surface roughness and material attributes. Although machining features are useful for suitable shape information for process reasoning in the CAPP, they need to be integrated with tolerance information for effective process planning. We develop the tolerance modeler that efficiently integrates machining features with tolerance information for feature-based CAPP It is based on the association of machining features, tolerance features. and tolerances Tolerance features, where tolerances are assigned, are classified into two types; one is the face that is a topological entity on a solid model and the other is the functional geometry that is not referenced to topological entities. The functional geometry is represented by using machining features All the data for representing tolerance information with machining features are stored completely and unambiguously in the independent tolerance structure. The developed tolerance modeler is implemented as a module of a comprehensive feature-based CAPP system.

  • Biometrics are getting more and more attention in recent years for security and other concerns. So far, only fingerprint recognition has seen limited success for on-line security check, since other biometrics verification and identification systems require more complicated and expensive acquisition interfaces and recognition processes. Hand-Geometry can be used for biometric verification and identification because of its acquisition convenience and good performance for verification and identification performance. It could also be a good candidate for online checks. Therefore, this paper proposes a Hand-Geometry recognition system based on geometrical features of hand. From anatomical point of view, human hand can be characterized by its length, width, thickness, geometrical composition, shapes of the palm, and shape and geometry of the fingers. This paper proposes thirty relevant features for a Hand-Geometry recognition system. This system presents verification results based on hand measurements of 20 individuals. The verification process has been tested on a size of $320{\times}240$ image, and result of the verification process have hit rate of 95% and FAR of 0.020.

  • Nondestructive testing, which can monitor a product's interior without disassembly, is becoming increasingly essential for industrial inspection. Computed laminography (CL) is widely used in this application, as it can reconstruct a product, such as a printed circuit board, into a three-dimensional (3D) high-magnification image using X-rays. However, such high-magnification scanning environments can be affected by minute vibrations of the CL device, which can generate motion artifacts in the 3D reconstructed image. Since such vibrations are irregular, geometric corrections must be performed at every scan. In this paper, we propose a geometry calibration method that can correct the geometric information of CL scans based on the image without using geometry calibration phantoms. The proposed method compares the projection and digitally reconstructed radiography images to measure the geometric error. To validate the proposed method, we used both numerical phantom images at various magnifications and images obtained from real industrial CL equipment. The experiment results confirmed that sharpness and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) were improved.
