유연보의 동역학 해석에 대한 선형 및 비선형 유한요소 정식화 (Formulations of Linear and Nonlinear Finite Element for Dynamic Flexible Beam)

  • This paper established the dynamic model of a flexible Timoshenko beam capable of geometrical nonlinearities subject to large overall motions by using the finite element method. Equations of motion are derived by using Hamilton principle and are formulated in terms of finite elements using CO elements in which the nonlinear constraint equations are adjoined to the system using Lagrange multipliers. In the final formulation are presented Coriolis and Gyroscopic forces as well as linear and nonlinear stiffnesses effects for the forthcoming numerical computation.

  • In this paper, we present a new combined field integral equation (CFIE) formulation for the analysis of electromagnetic scattering from arbitrarily shaped three-dimensional perfectly conducting and piecewise homogeneous dielectric composite body. The conducting/dielectric structures are approximated by planar triangular patches, which have the ability to conform to any geometrical surface. The surface covering the conducting body is replaced by an equivalent surface electric current and the surface of the dielectric by equivalent electric and magnetic currents. The all equivalent currents are approximated in terms of RWG (Rao, Wilton, Glisson) functions. The objective of this paper is to illustrate that the CFIE is a valid methodology in removing defects, which occur at a frequency corresponding to an internal resonance of the structure. Numerical results are presented and compared with solutions obtained using other formulations.

  • The primary objective of this paper is to grasp many characteristics of buckling behavior of latticed spherical domes under various conditions. The Arc-Length Method proposed by E.Riks is used for the computation and evaluation of geometrically nonlinear fundamental equilibrium paths and bifurcation points. And the direction of the path after the bifurcation point is decided by means of Hosono's concept. Three different nonlinear stiffness matrices of the Slope-Deflection Method are derived for the system with rigid nodes and results of the numerical analysis are examined in regard in geometrical parameters such as slenderness ratio, half-open angle, boundary conditions, and various loading types. But in case of analytical model 2 (rigid node), the post-buckling path could not be surveyed because of Newton-Raphson iteration process being diversed on the critical point since many eigenvalues become zero simultaneously.

Parametric Macro for Two-Dimensional Layout on the Auto-CAD System

  • In recent years, a number of successful nesting approaches have been developed by using the various heuristic algorithms, and due to their application potential several commercial CAD/CAM packages include a nesting module for solving the layout problems. Since a large portion of the complexity of the part nesting problem results from the overlapping computation, the geometric representation is one of the most important factors to reduce the complexity of the problem. The proposed part representation method can easily handle parts and raw materials with widely varying geometrical shape by using the redesigning modules. This considerably reduces the amount of processed data and consequently the run time of the computer. The aim of this research is to develop parametric macro for two-dimensional layout on the Auto-CAD system. Therefore, this research can be called "pre-nesting".ing".uot;.

냉각탑 주위의 장애물에 의한 재순환 현상에 관한 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis on Recirculation Generated by Obstacles around a Cooling Tower)

  • The present study has been conducted to examine the effect of obstacles around a cooling tower and an air-guide to prevent recirculation. In order to analyze the interaction between external flow and cooling tower exit flow, the external region as well as the cooling, tower are included in computational domain. Two dimensional analysis is performed using the finite volume method with non-orthogonal and unstructured grid system. The standard ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model is used. To investigate the recirculation phenomena, flow and temperature fields are calculated with three approaches such as, the distance between cooling tower and obstacle, the allocated geometrical type, and the effect of height of obstacle. In addition, the air-guide is considered in the current computation. The mean recirculation rate increases with the height of obstacle. The effect of air-guide to reduce the mean recirculation rate is obviously observed.

  • 구조물이 거대해지고 복잡해지면서 미소변현을 전제로 한 선형이론으로는 해석이 불가능한 대변형 및 비선형 거동이 발생하는 경우가 많아지고 있다. 또한 고성능 컴퓨터의 등장과 다양한 수치해석 기법의 개발 등으로 보다 엄격한 설계기준에 따른 구조의 최적화 설계가 절실히 요구되고 있다. 그로 인해 선형 영역내에서 한정되었던 구조공학적인 문제를 비선형 영역까지 확대시켜 구조물의 거동을 보다 정확히 분석하고, 예상 가능한 문제점을 사전에 파악하여 효율적이고 경제적인 최적의 구조물을 설계해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 비등방성 원통형 쉘 구조물의 기하학적 비선형 문제를 해결하였다. 원통형 쉘의 반경방향 길이와 원통방향의 길이비인 형상비 변화, 부분 원통형 쉘의 중심각 변화, 화이버 각도 변화, 적층수와 배열조건 변화 등의 다양한 조건에 따라 비등방성 원통형 쉘 구조의 기하학적 비선형 거동특성을 분석하였다.

Topology Correction for Flattening of Brain Cortex

  • We need to flatten the brain cortex to smooth surface, sphere, or 2D plane in order to view the buried sulci. The rendered 3D surface of the segmented white matter and gray matter does not have the topology of a sphere due to the partial volume effect and segmentation error. A surface without correct topology may lead to incorrect interpretation of local structural relationships and prevent cortical unfolding. Although some algorithms try to correct topology, they require heavy computation and fail to follow the deep and narrow sulci. This paper proposes a method that corrects topology of the rendered surface fast, accurately, and automatically. The proposed method removes fractions beside the main surface, fills cavities in the inside of the main surface, and removes handles in the surface. The proposed method to remove handles has three-step approach. Step 1 performs smoothing operation on the rendered surface. In Step 2, vertices of sphere are gradually deformed to the smoothed surfaces and finally to the boundary of the segmented white matter and gray matter. The Step 2 uses multi-resolutional approach to prevent the deep sulci from geometrical intersection. In Step 3, 3D binary image is constructed from the deformed sphere of Step 2 and 3D surface is regenerated from the 3D binary image to remove intersection that may happen. The experimental results show that the topology is corrected while principle sulci and gyri are preserved and the computation amount is acceptable.

Experimental and numerical bending deflection of cenosphere filled hybrid (Glass/Cenosphere/Epoxy) composite

  • The influence on flexural strength of Glass/Epoxy laminated composite curved panels of different geometries (cylindrical, spherical, elliptical, hyperboloid and flat) due to inclusion of nano cenosphere filler examined in this research article. The deflection responses of the hybrid structure are evaluated numerically using the isoparametric finite element technique and modelled mathematically via higher-order displacement structural kinematics. To predict the deflection values, a customised in-house computer code in MATLAB environment is prepared using the higher-order isoparametric formulation. Subsequently, the numerical model validity has been established by comparing with those of available benchmark solution including the convergence characteristics of the finite element solution. Further, a few cenosphere filled hybrid composite are prepared for different volume fractions for the experimental purpose, to review the propose model accuracy. The experimental deflection values are compared with the finite element solutions, where the experimental elastic properties are adopted for the computation. Finally, the effect of different variable design dependent parameter and the percentages of nano cenosphere including the geometrical shapes obtained via a set of numerical experimentation.

다중 스테레오영상을 이용한 대응문제의 해결과 거리오차의 해석 (Solving the Correspondence Problem by Multiple Stereo Image and Error Analysis of Computed Depth)

  • In this paper, we present a multiple-view stereo matching method in case of moving in the direction of optical axis with stereo camera. Also we analyze the obtainable depth precision to show that multiple-view stereo increases the virtual baseline with single-view stereo. This method decides candidate points for correspondence in each image pair and then search for the correct combinations of correspondences among them using the geometrical consistency they must satisfy. Adantages of this method are capability in increasing the accuracy in matching by using the multiple stereo images and less computation due to local processing. This method computes 3-D depth by averaging the depth obtained in each multiple-view stereo. We show that the resulting depth has more precision than depth obtainable by each independent stereo when the position of image feature is uncertain due to image noise. This paper first defines a multipleview stereo agorithm in case of moving in the direction of optical axis with stereo camera and analyze the obtainable precision of computed depth. Then we represent the effect of removing the incorrect matching candidate and precision enhancement with experimental result.

점 집합의 보로노이 다이어그램을 이용한 원 집합의 보로노이 다이어그램의 계산: I. 위상학적 측면 (The Computation of the Voronoi Diagram of a Circle Set Using the Voronoi Diagram of a Point Set: I. Topology)

  • An efficient and robust algorithm to compute the exact Voronoi diagram of a circle set is presented. The circles are located in a two dimensional Euclidean space, the radii of the circles are non-negative and not necessarily equal, and the circles are allowed to intersect each other. The idea of the algorithm is to use the topology of the point set Voronoi diagram as a seed so that the correct topology of the circle set Voronoi diagram can be obtained through a number of edge flipping operations. Then, the geometries of the Voronoi edges of the circle set Voronoi diagram are computed. In particular, this paper discusses the topological aspect of the algorithm, and the following paper discusses the geometrical aspect. The main advantages of the proposed algorithm are in its robustness, speed, and the simplicity in its concept as well as implementation. Since the algorithm is based on the result of the point set Voronoi diagram and the flipping operation is the only topological operation, the algorithm is always as stable as the Voronoi diagram construction algorithm of a point set.
