A Study on the Model of Information Resource Management Architecture for Government and Public Organizations (국가공공기관 정보자원관리를 위한 기본구조 모델에 관한 사례 연구)

  • Information technology(IT) has become the fourth major resource available to executives to shape and operate government and public organizations. Government and public organizations have managed the other three major resources for years : people, money, and machine. But today IT accounts for more than 10 % of the budget spent in the Korean government and public organizations. From an information resource management point of view, therefore, data and information, hardware and software, telecommunications networks, information systems personnel and other factors are valuable resources that should be managed for the benefit of the entire organization. This paper studied on the model of information resource management(IRM) architecture for government and public organizations and suggested a new generic model for IRM. The model is consisted of four basic architectures and each architecture includes several factors that should be managed for the benefit of the entire government and public organizations.

  • The primary objective of this work is to develop methodologies for virtual model basin and to demonstrate the capabilities for generic multi-hull ship geometry. A computational fluid dynamics approach is used to simulate various model basin tests for steady resistance, maneuvering and seakeeping. For a catamaran hull configuration, the methodologies are used for solving these problems and the results are discussed. Computational results are compared with the results of a benchmarked potential flow theory method for calm water resistance.

  • This paper presents an enhanced web-based distributed system with Single Access Object Protocol(SOAP), which uses HTTP as a communication protocol and XML as a data presentation. The suggested system is applied into a Generic Equipment Model (GEM) for exchanging specified messages(SECS-II), which are encoded into XML presentation, between Equipment and Host via the web sorrel. In this paper, the designed system architecture and its soap components are presented.

  • In this paper, we propose the design procedure of advance Polynomial Neural Networks(PNN) architecture for optimal model identification of complex and nonlinear system. The proposed PNN architecture is presented as the generic and advanced type. The essence of the design procedure dwells on the Group Method of Data Handling(GMDH). PNN is a flexible neural architecture whose structure is developed through learning. In particular, the number of layers of the PNN is not fixed in advance but is generated in a dynamic way. In this sense, PNN is a self-organizing network. With the aid of three representative numerical examples, compari-sons show that the proposed advanced PNN algorithm can produce the model with higher accuracy than previous other works. And performance index related to approximation and generalization capabilities of model is evaluated and also discussed.

Maneuvering simulation of an X-plane submarine using computational fluid dynamics

  • X-plane submarines show better maneuverability as they have much longer span of control plane than that of cross plane submarines. In this study, captive model tests were conducted to evaluate the maneuverability of an X-plane submarine using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and a mathematical maneuvering model. For CFD analysis, SNUFOAM, CFD software specialized in naval hydrodynamics based on the open-source toolkit, OpenFOAM, was applied. A generic submarine Joubert BB2 was selected as a test model, which was modified by Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN). Captive model tests including propeller open water, resistance, self-propulsion, static drift, horizontal planar motion mechanism and vertical planar motion mechanism tests were carried out to obtain maneuvering coefficients of the submarine. Maneuvering simulations for turning circle tests were performed using the maneuvering coefficients obtained from the captive model tests. The simulated trajectory showed good agreement with that of free running model tests. From the results, it was proved that CFD simulations can be applicable to obtain reliable maneuvering coefficients for X-plane submarines.

  • In this study, the design methodology as well as network architecture of Support Vector Machine based Polynomial Neural Network, which is a kind of the dynamically generated neural networks, is introduced. The Support Vector Machine based polynomial neural networks is given as a novel network architecture redesigned with the aid of polynomial neural networks and Support Vector Machine. The generic polynomial neural networks, whose nodes are made of polynomials, are dynamically generated in each layer-wise. The individual nodes of the support vector machine based polynomial neural networks is constructed as a support vector machine, and the nodes as well as layers of the support vector machine based polynomial neural networks are dynamically generated as like the generation process of the generic polynomial neural networks. Support vector machine is well known as a sort of robust pattern classifiers. In addition, in order to enhance the structural flexibility as well as the classification performance of the proposed classifier, multi-objective particle swarm optimization is used. In other words, the optimization algorithm leads to sequentially successive generation of each layer of support vector based polynomial neural networks. The bench mark data sets are used to demonstrate the pattern classification performance of the proposed classifiers through the comparison of the generalization ability of the proposed classifier with some already studied classifiers.

  • The Internet provides a new way of doing business, but ease of copying and of sharing valuable digital information illegally across the Internet undermine many viable business models. This paper investigates the Digital Rights Management(DRM) as a means to provide safe protection and proper delivery of digital contents through the Information highway. First, we briefly summarize the current endeavor of DRM technical development and standardization process held in key technical working groups. Then, the paper provides a generic architecture for a DRM framework and shows the implementation of a prototype of DRM system incorporating key conceptual and technical standardization development. This study emphasizes the importance of developing the DRM architecture that provides the proper protection and safe transformation of digital contents in electronic commerce.

  • In traditional approach, enterprise-wide consistent security policy enforcement for applications is very difficult task. Therefore, industry is now moving towards new unified enterprise application security concept that consist of centralized authentication and authorization mechanism. The eXtensible Access Control Markup Language (XACML); an XML-based standard defined by OASIS, is most suitable choice which can support centralized, role based, context aware access control mechanism. It is designed to provide universal standard for writing authorization policies and access control request/response language for managing access to the resources. This paper includes a brief overview on XACML and discusses its benefits, limitations and a data flow process. We propose a new generic access control architecture that supports enterprise wide centralized application level access control mechanism using XACML. The other benefits which can be achieved through this architecture are, reduce adnministration cost and complexity, support of heterogeneous computing platforms, centralized monitoring system, automatic fail over, scalability and availability, open standard based solution and secure communication.

  • We setup the system to measure the noise characteristics of the 5M complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) image sensor by generic measurement indicator of Standard mobile imaging architecture (SMIA) which is one of internal standard of mobile imaging architecture. To evaluate the effect of environment and setting parameters, such as temperature and integration time, we measure the variation of the dark signal, dynamic range and fixed pattern noise of image sensor. We also detect the number of defective pixels and cluster defects defined as adjacent single defect pixels at 5M CMOS image sensor. Then, we find the existence of some cluster defects in experiment, which are not expected in calculation.

A Vector Instruction-based RISC Architecture for a Photovoltaic System Monitoring Camera

  • Photovoltaic systems have emerged to be one of the cleanest energy systems. Therefore, many large scale solar parks and PV farms have been built to prepare for the post fossil fuel ages. However, due to their large scale, to efficiently manage and operate PV systems, they need to be visually monitored within the range of infrared ray through the Internet. To satisfy this need, the efficient implementation of a high performance video compression standard is required. This paper therefore presents an implementation of H.264 motion estimation, which is one of the most data-intensive and complicated functions in H.264. To achieve this, this work implements vector instructions in hardware and incorporates them in a generic RISC processor architecture, thus increasing the processing speed while minimizing hardware and software design efforts. Extensive simulation results show that this proposed implementation can process motion estimations up to 13 times faster.
