In this paper grid generation of unstructured quadrilateral surface grids is described. The current approach uses conventional Advancing Front Method which is used to generate unstructured triangular grids. Grid cell size control is done by using closeness-based global interpolation method controlled by pre-described control elements. Algorithm and procedure for quadrilateral grid generation using AFM method and cell size control method are described. Examples of quadrilateral grid generation are shown, and difficulties and problems related to the current approach are also discussed.

Utilization of renewable energy is becoming increaingly important from the viewpoints of environmental protection and conservation of fossil fuel. However, the generating power of renewable energy is always fluctuating due to the environmental status. This paper presents a scheme for supervisory control of wind generation system with the energy storage and STATCOM to reduce the power variation. In this paper, we especially concentrate on constant power output control of wind generation system. In order to achieve this purpose, the coordinated control strategy between different types of energy storage system and reactive power compensation device. The proposed control scheme has been validated by PSCAD/EMTDC simulation. As a result, the proposed scheme can handle the power output of wind generation system with a constant value.
In this paper, a sensorless pitch angle control method for a wind generation system is suggested. One-step-ahead prediction control law is adopted to control the pitch angle of a wind turbine in order for electric output power to track target values. And it is shown that this control scheme using the inverse dynamics of the controlled system enables us to predict current wind speed without an anemometer, to a considerable precision. The inverse input-output of the controlled system is realized by use of an artificial neural network. The proposed control and wind speed prediction method is applied to a Double-Feed Induction Generation system connected to a simple power system through computer simulation to show its effectiveness. The simulation results demonstrate that the suggested method shows better control performances with less control efforts than a conventional Proportional-Integral controller.
The purpose of this study was to develop elementary students' ability to generate hypothesis knowledge through knowledge generation learning in science. The learning program consisted of a series of 28 activities to generate hypotheses in science. Eighty 6th grade students participated in the study and were divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group was administered a program geared towards hypothesis generation learning and the control group was administered a program aimed at hypothesis expository learning in elementary science. After using the respective programs, subjects in both groups were tested in terms of their abilities in abductive knowledge generation and administered a descriptive self-report regarding their generation of hypotheses. Two of the 28 activity program worksheets in the experimental group were analyzed in terms of the quality and process of students' hypothesis generation. The results were as follows: 1) The experimental group showed significantly higher scores in terms of scientific knowledge generation (i.e. abductive knowledge generation) than the control group. 2) The degree of hypothesis explanation in the experimental group was significantly higher than in the control group in terms of the quality of the generated hypotheses. In addition, students in the experimental group generated more varied and valid knowledge than the control group in terms of sub-knowledge of hypothesis generation. Therefore, it can be argued that this program for hypothesis knowledge generation in elementary science students was effective in the generation of hypothesis knowledge.

In this paper, a new algorithm of Integrated Volt/Var Control (IVVC) is proposed using Volt/Var control for the Distribution Automation System (DAS) based on the modeling of the distributed load and the distributed current. In the proposed, the load flow based on the modeling of the distributed load with Distributed Generation and the distributed current are estimated from constants of four terminals using the measurement of the current and power factor from a Feeder Remote Terminal Unit (FRTU). For Integrated Volt/Var Control (IVVC), the gradient method is applied to find optimal solution for tap and capacity control of OLTC (On-Load Tap Changers), SVR (Step Voltage Regulator), and SC (Shunt Condenser). What is more Volt/Var control method is proposed using moving the tie switch as well as IVVC algorithm using power utility control. In the case studies, the estimation and simulation network have been testified in Matlab Simulink.
Renewable energy generation cannot be consistently predicted or controlled. Therefore, it is currently not widely used in the electricity market, which requires dependable production. In this study, reliability- and variance-based controls of energy storage strategies are proposed to utilize renewable energy as a steady contributor to the electricity market. For reliability-based control, photovoltaic (PV) generation is assumed to be registered in the power generation plan. PV generation yields a reliable output using energy storage units to compensate for PV prediction errors. We also propose a runtime state-ofcharge management method for sustainable operations. With variance-based controls, changes in rapid power generation are limited through ramp rate control. This study introduces new reliability and variance indices as indicators for evaluating these strategies. The reliability index quantifies the degree to which the actual generation realizes the plan, and the variance index quantifies the degree of power change. The two strategies are verified based on simulations and experiments. The reliability index improved by 3.1 times on average over 21 days at a real power plant.

Recently, interest in renewable energy is increased due to exhaustion of fossil fuel and environmental pollution all over the world, therefore the solar power generation using solar energy is many researched. The solar power generation is required solar tracking control and high concentration solar thermal collector because generation performance is depended on concentrator efficiency. This paper proposes high efficiency solar power generation with two-axis tracking control using dish-type solar thermal collector that has excellent thermal collector performance and tracking algorithm that can be accurately tracked solar position. This paper proves validity through analysis with accuracy of tracking algorithm and generating efficiency.

The limitations of previous research on improving security vulnerabilities in power generation control systems were analyzed, and as an alternative, a cyber security information sharing model is proposed. Understanding the operational characteristics of power generation control systems, we examined the concepts and policies of cyber security information sharing, analyzing practical implementation cases. We presented effective policies and technological approaches that can be applied to power generation control systems, and their efficacy was verified through a model evaluation to validate their impact.

In this paper a robust controller using adaptive backstepping technique is proposed to control the speed of wind power generation system. To make wind power generation truly cost effective and reliable, advanced and robust control algorithms are derived to on-line adjust the excitation winding voltage of the generator based on both mechanical and electrical dynamics. This method is shown to be able to achieve smooth and asymptotic rotor speed tracking, as justified by analysis and computer simulation.
