  • In this study, we analysed the constituents of proof and examined into the reasons why the students have trouble in learning the proof, and proposed directions for improving the teaming and teaching of proof. Through the reviews of the related literatures and the analyses of textbooks, the constituents of proof in the level of middle grades in our country are divided into two major categories 'Constituents related to the construction of reasoning' and 'Constituents related to the meaning of proof. 'The former includes the inference rules(simplification, conjunction, modus ponens, and hypothetical syllogism), symbolization, distinguishing between definition and property, use of the appropriate diagrams, application of the basic principles, variety and completeness in checking, reading and using the basic components of geometric figures to prove, translating symbols into literary compositions, disproof using counter example, and proof of equations. The latter includes the inferences, implication, separation of assumption and conclusion, distinguishing implication from equivalence, a theorem has no exceptions, necessity for proof of obvious propositions, and generality of proof. The results from three types of examinations; analysis of the textbooks, interview, writing test, are summarized as following. The hypothetical syllogism that builds the main structure of proofs is not taught in middle grades explicitly, so students have more difficulty in understanding other types of syllogisms than the AAA type of categorical syllogisms. Most of students do not distinguish definition from property well, so they find difficulty in symbolizing, separating assumption from conclusion, or use of the appropriate diagrams. The basic symbols and principles are taught in the first year of the middle school and students use them in proving theorems after about one year. That could be a cause that the students do not allow the exact names of the principles and can not apply correct principles. Textbooks do not describe clearly about counter example, but they contain some problems to solve only by using counter examples. Students have thought that one counter example is sufficient to disprove a false proposition, but in fact, they do not prefer to use it. Textbooks contain some problems to prove equations, A=B. Proving those equations, however, students do not perceive that writing equation A=B, the conclusion of the proof, in the first line and deforming the both sides of it are incorrect. Furthermore, students prefer it to developing A to B. Most of constituents related to the meaning of proof are mentioned very simply or never in textbooks, so many students do not know them. Especially, they accept the result of experiments or measurements as proof and prefer them to logical proof stated in textbooks.

  • The component for satisfying several domain requirements must be developed to support variety. But, when the application is developed using the component, it happens other requirements. So, it is difficult to design component to satisfy severaldomain requirements. Also, it is impossible to support the special business logic. As this problem, the component must provide to the white-box component, it is not the black-box component. So, in this paper, we propose the variability design technique and the customization technique using the design technique that can support the various requirements. This technique is not focus on designing the component to analyze various domains. The variability of the component is designed to the initial variability in the component development phase and we use the customization technique for applying the variability to developing application. The variability can be re-designed during developing the application to use the component applying the variability. The variability of the component is evolved and the generation of the component is increased via the iteration Generally, the range of the component variability is classified the function modification within the component and the component internal structure modification as requirements in the component outside. As the range of the variability, we propose the variability design technique of the behavior and the message flow. This paper proposes a message flow design technique for modifying function call.

  • Nature of Science(NOS) has been a well-organized focus of science education and one of the key elements in defining and cultivating scientific literacy for more than a century. In recent years, a specific description of NOS, which is often known as 'the consensus view of NOS', has become very influential and has gained ready acceptance as an arrangement for both curriculum building and research into understanding of NOS by students and teachers in many countries around the world. This study has two purposes; one is to review some debates and criticism on the consensus view of NOS which consists of a list of sentences to describe nature of refined and general science, which have been heated up for the last few years by many prominent science education researchers, and the other is to consider alternative perspectives on NOS for the purpose of a new direction of NOS education. As a result of an investigation into such views as 'Teaching about NOS', 'Critical NOS', 'Critical Thinking-NOS', 'Whole Science', 'Features of Science' and 'Reconceptualized Family Resemblance Approach to NOS', some implications which focus on the generality and plurality of content knowledge of NOS based on current philosophy of science and sociology of scientific knowledge are suggested for the improvement of teaching and learning NOS.

  • Three rice varieties of Akibare (japonica), Milyang 30 (indica) and Taebaeg (indica) were investiated for sensory and physical qualities of cooked rices during storage at the temperature range of $4^{\circ}C$ and $70^{\circ}C$ for 25 hours. The qualities studied were sensory attributes of odor, taste and appearance which were evaluated by multiple comparison method. The other properties were size of rice granule and separation Property of individual cooked rices in water. The sensory results showed that all of the descriptions except moldy odor and oily taste were scored higher values for cooked rices of Akibare than those values of Milyang 30 and Taebaeg. It was found that storage of cooked rices at various temperatures resulted a significant decrease in most of sensory qualities except moldy odor and oily taste which were rather increased. The quality change was more affected at storage at low temperature, particularly at $4^{\circ}C$, than at higher temperatures. The property of individual separation of cooked rices in water for freshly cooked rices showed that Akibare was separated 44.4% after 1 minute shaking while Milyang 30 and Taebaeg had the higher separation value of 53.1%, and 51.0%, respectively. This characteristic was noticeably reduced after 3 hours storage and then steady increased during further storage. It was also found that the separation percent was generality increased as the storage temperature increased from $4^{\circ}$ to $70^{\circ}C$.

  • The existing methods to analyze the heterogeneous porous media based on the similar media concept are the microscopic Miller similitude(MiS), the macroscopic Miller similitude(MaS) and the Warrick similitude(WS). The inter-relationship is found such that MiS ⊂ MaS ⊂ (⊂:subset). The proposed method is based ont eh assumption that the scale variables $\alpha$=w and the moisture content is dimensionless by introducing the effective degree of saturation instead of the degree of saturation into WS. The method, without the loss of generality in view of the inspectional analysis, can explain the heterogeneity of the media by using the scale variable $\alpha$ only. The media of $\alpha$=1 (average of $\alpha$) means the equivalent media corresponding to the heterogeneous media, while the standard deviation of $\alpha$ may explain the degree of the heterogeneity of the media under consideration. The hydraulic conductivity of the media with $\alpha$>1 is greater than that of the equivalent media, and the effective moisture content of the media with $\alpha$>1 is also greater. Based on these properties of the scale variable $\alpha$, the ideal vertical one-dimensional heterogeneous porous media is generated by using the technique of random number generation.

  • The hidden node plays a role of the functional units that classifies the features of input pattern in the given question. Therefore, a neural network that consists of the number of a suitable optimum hidden node has be on the rise as a factor that has an important effect upon a result. However there is a problem that decides the number of hidden nodes based on back-propagation learning algorithm. If the number of hidden nodes is designated very small perfect learning is not done because the input pattern given cannot be classified enough. On the other hand, if designated a lot, overfitting occurs due to the unnecessary execution of operation and extravagance of memory point. So, the recognition rate is been law and the generality is fallen. Therefore, this paper suggests a method that decides the number of neural network node with feature information consisted of the parameter of learning algorithm. It excludes a node in the Pruning target, that has a maximum value among the feature value obtained and compares the average of the rest of hidden node feature value with the feature value of each hidden node, and then would like to improve the learning speed of neural network deciding the optimum structure of the multi-layer neural network as pruning the hidden node that has the feature value smaller than the average.

  • The purpose of this study was to delve into parents who turned their children into creative achievers in the East and the West in an attempt to determine the cultural generality and specificity of the rearing of gifted children. The subjects in this study were Western parents, who brought up Marie Curie, Einstein, Edison and Newton, and Eastern parents, who raised Lee Hwang, Lee lee, Jeong Yak-yong and Heo Nanseolheon. To compare their parenting characteristics, common denominators and differences, a variety of data were investigated, including historical records about the parents, biographies, critical biographies, autobiographies and letters. As to the common features of the parenting style of the eight Asian and Western parents, they were talented themselves or capable of educating their children in their talent areas, and provided them with optimal learning environments or chances without pushing them. They accentuated independent spirits and emphasized renovative and open way of thinking. And at least one parent in each family showed absolute support for their child. Regarding differences in parenting style between the East and the West, the Western parents urged their children to develop their talents with more intention, rather the Asian parents prized the well-rounded personality and growth of their children. The former interacted with their children in an horizontal manner, but the latter had a vertical relationship with their children. The former expressed their feelings in an active way, but the latter had their emotion in control. Besides, the Western parents disclosed themselves to their children by showing them even their mistakes or improper behaviors, whereas the Asian parents strived in everyday life to give their children a good example or a good role model.

  • A homonym could be disambiguated by anther words in the context such as nouns, predicates used with the homonym. This paper proposes a homonym disambiguation system based on statistical semantic information which is extracted from definitions in dictionary. The semantic information consists of nouns and predicates that are used with the homonym in definitions. In order to extract accurate semantic information, definitions are used with the homonym in definitions. In order to extract accurate semantic information, definitions are classified into two types. One has hyponym-hypernym relation between title word and head word (homonym) in definition. The hyponym-hypernym relation is one level semantic hierarchy and can be extended to deeper levels in order to overcome the problem of data sparseness. The other is the case that the homonym is used in the middle of definition. The system considers nouns and predicates simultaneously to disambiguate the homonym. Nine homonyms are examined in order to determine the weight of nouns and predicates which affect accrutacy of homonym disambiguation. From experiments using training corpus(definitions in dictionary), the average accruracy of homonym disamguation is 96.11% when the weight is 0.9 and 0.1 for noun and verb respectively. And another experiment to meaure the generality of the homonym disambiguation system results in the 80.73% average accuracy to 1,796 untraining sentences from Korean Information Base I and ETRI corpus.

  • Universal design is defined as the design process of products and environments usable by all people to the greatest extent possible, without the need for adaptation or specialized design. The benefits of universal design have been promoted primarily through illustrative 'success stories' of public, residential and occupational environments and products. While case examples may be informative, they may unfortunately be limited in terms of generality to other designs or tasks. Therefore, design methods and criteria that can be applied systematically in a range of situations to encourage universal design are needed. In addition, the seven principles of universal design are intended to guide the design process. The principles provide a framework that allows a systematic evaluation of new or existing designs and assists in educating both designers and consumers about the characteristics of more usable products and environments. However, exactly how these principles are incorporated into the design process has beenleft up to the designer. Since the introduction of universal design, designers have become familiar with the principles of universal design, and they have developed many products based on universal design. However, the principles of universal design are qualitative, which means designers cannot quantitatively evaluate their designs. Some have worked to develop more systematic ways to evaluate products and environments by providing design guidelines for each of the principles. However, recommendations have not yet been made regarding how to integrate performance measures of universal design into the product design process before the product is mass produced. Furthermore, there are sets of requirements regarding each user group that has different age and ability. Consequently, there is an urgent need for design methods, based on a better understanding of age and ability related factors, which will lead to a universally designed product or environment. The authors have proposed the PSD (Preference Set-Based Design) method that can generate a ranged set of feasible solutions (i.e., robust and flexible solution set) instead of single point solution that satisfies changing sets of design targets. The objective of this paper is to develop a general method for systematically supporting the universal design process. This paper proposes the applicability of PSD method to universal design. Here, the proposed method is successfully illustrated with a universal design problem.

  • One's constitution is formed congenitally and is also acquired, and is relatively stable in its individually manifested function, structure and temperament. It has characteristics of universality, complexity, generality and continuity. It is also manifested in physiological responses and expresses pathologic tendencies including susceptibility. Attempts at understanding constitution has had a long history throughout the world. In Oriental Medicine, the constitution had been acknowledged from the "Huangdi Neijing", which has been a bible in Oriental Medicine for about two thousand years. In many aspects, the "Huangdi Neijing" provides the basis for both basic and practical fields. In order to derive the ideal structure from the "Huangdi Neijing" to Lee Je-ma's(Lee Jayma's) Sasang Constitutional ideas, which can strengthen the understanding of ideal core of Oriental Medicine's constitutional characteristics, the author launched his analysis of the constitutional understandings in the "Huangdi Neijing" as a first step and came to the following: 1. The constitutional understanding in the "Huangdi Neijing" was done both via the physiological responses to heat, pain and acupuncture treatment and the pathologic tendencies via body structure, strength, body heat, courage and obesity. 2. It was recognized that the constitution was formed congenitally and also acquired factors like living conditions including food customs, residents and geographical conditions were explained in detailed. 3. The constitutional typology was suggested both by the general and systematic criterion according to the Yin-yang and the Five phase theories and by single criterion such as obesity, courage and the response to acupuncture treatment. 4. As diagnosis is related to the constitution, courage was adopted for the disease caused by emotions, obesity was for its manifestations of qi and blood, the quantities of qi-blood and Yin-yang in the typology by the Yin-yang and Five phase theories were suggested. 5. In the case of obesity, Yin-yang and Five phase theory, treatment according to the constitutional ideas was mentioned, and their goals were concluded as "being the balancing between Yin and Yang" which means the Yin-yang theory is more practical than the Five phase theory in Oriental Constitutional Medical field. According to the above understandings, the author would like to suggest that the constitutional ideas in the "Huangdi Neijing" based on the Yin-yang theory blossomed via the practical spirit of Zhang Zhong-jing's "Shanghanlun" and at last from Lee Je-ma's(Lee Jayma's) Sasang Constitutional Medicine which realized "the balancing between Yin and yang" through the practical applications of herbal treatments.
