  • In this paper, we point out the possibility of the divergence of control input caused by the estimation error of delay-time when general iterative learning algorithms are applied to a class of linear dynamic systems with time-delay in which delay-time is not exactly measurable, and then propose a new type of iterative learning algorithm in order to solve this problem. To resolve the uncertainty of delay-time, we propose an algorithm using holding mechanism which has been used in digital control system and/or discrete-time control system. The control input is held as constant value during the time interval of which size is that of the delay-time uncertainty. The output of the system tracks a given desired trajectory at discrete points which are spaced auording to the size of uncertainty of delay-time with the robust property for estimation error of delay-time. Several numerical examples are given to illustrate the effeciency of the proposed algorithm.

  • Due to the proliferation of the Internet and intranet, new application domains such as stream data processing have emerged. Stream data is real-timely and continuously generated. In stream data environments, a lot of queries are registered, and then, the arrived data item is evaluated by registered queries. Thus, to accelerate the query performance, diverse continuous query index schemes have been proposed for stream data processing systems. In this paper, we focus on the query index technique for stream data. In general, a stream query contains the range condition. Thus, by using range conditions, the queries can be indexed. In this paper, we propose an efficient query index scheme, called QUISIS, using a modified Interval Skip Lists to accelerate search time. QUISIS utilizes a locality where a value which will arrive in near future is similar to the current value. Through the experimental study, we show the efficiency of our proposed method.

  • Estuarine dams are a recent and global phenomenon. While estuarine dams can provide the benefit of improved freshwater resources, they can also alter estuarine processes. Due to the wide range of estuarine types and estuarine dam configurations, the effect of estuarine dams on estuaries is not well understood in general. To develop a systematic understanding of the effect of estuarine dam location and freshwater discharge interval on a range of estuarine types (strongly stratified, partially mixed, periodically stratified, and well-mixed), this study used a coupled hydrodynamic-sediment dynamic numerical model (COAWST) and compared flow, sediment transport, and morphological conditions in the pre- and post-dam estuaries. For each estuarine type, scenarios with dam locations at 20, 55 and 90 km from the mouth and discharge intervals of a discharge every 0.5, 3, and 7 days were investigated. The results were analyzed in terms of change in tide, river discharge, estuarine classification, and sediment flux mechanism. The estuarine dam location primarily affected the tide-dominated estuaries, and the resonance length was an important length scale affecting the tidal currents and Stokes return flow. When the location was less than the resonance length, the tidal currents and Stokes return flow were most reduced due to the loss of tidal prism, the dead-end channel, and the shift from mixed to standing tides. The discharge interval primarily affected the river-dominated estuaries, and the tidal cycle period was an important time scale. When the interval was greater than the tidal cycle period, notable seaward discharge pulses and freshwater fronts occurred. Dams located near the mouth with large discharge interval differed the most from their pre-dam condition based on the estuarine classification. Greater discharge intervals, associated with large discharge magnitudes, resulted in scour and seaward sediment flux in the river-dominated estuaries, and the dam located near the resonance length resulted in the greatest landward tidal pumping sediment flux and deposition in the tide-dominated estuaries.

  • In the digital waveguide theory, traveling waves are represented by general solution to the wave equation that is second-order linear partial differential equation. The movement of these waves can be implemented using only delay lines. An unit delay in the general digital waveguide describes a sampling time interval. However, in the space-based digital waveguide the unit delay implies the spatial sampling distance. In consideration of these differences between two models, it is known that the space-based digital waveguide model is adequate to synthesize pitch-shifted sounds such as vibrato because the propagation distance can be directly control. In this paper, the time-based digital waveguide model which also synthesizes pitch-shifted sounds is proposed and compared with space-based digital waveguide.

  • Objective : A role of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) in the diagnosis of cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is not well-understood. This study evaluates the effectiveness of DWI in the diagnosis of CVT. Methods : Literature search was conducted in electronic databases for the identification of studies which reported the outcomes of patients subjected to DWI for CVT diagnosis. Random-effects meta-analyses were performed to achieve overall estimates of important diagnostic efficiency indices including hyperintense signal rate, the sensitivity and specificity of DWI in diagnosing CVT, and the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) of DWI signal areas and surrounding tissue. Results : Nineteen studies (443 patients with 856 CVTs; age 40 years [95% confidence interval (CI), 33 to 43]; 28% males [95% CI, 18 to 38]; symptom onset to DWI time 4.6 days [95% CI, 2.3 to 6.9]) were included. Hyperintense signals on DWI were detected in 40% (95% CI, 26 to 55) of the cases. The sensitivity of DWI for detecting CVT was 22% (95% CI, 11 to 34) but specificity was 98% (95% CI, 95 to 100). ADC values were quite heterogenous in DWI signal areas. However, generally the ADC values were lower in DWI signal areas than in surrounding normal areas (mean difference-0.33×10-3 ㎟/s [95% CI, -0.44 to -0.23]; p<0.00001). Conclusion : DWI has a low sensitivity in detecting CVT and thus has a high risk of missing many CVT cases. However, because of its high specificity, it may have supporting and exploratory roles in CVT diagnosis.

  • TDMA based MAC protocol supporting wireless mesh network has many advantage rather than 802.11 DCF/EDCA protocol based on packet. But TDMA based MAC protocol require new synchronization method because of mobile point oscillator's difference, and distributed environments. This thesis propose synchronization method for TDMA based MAC protocol. It divides MP(Mobile Points) states into 4 types. If MP is in sync mode, it schedules TDMA local start time in time skew interval using beacon. It proposes compensation algorithms to compensate time skew caused by clock drift. This proposal show that general time error and clock drift rate value reduced and get synchronized result.

  • Purpose: This study was to analyze the sustainable effects of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) reeducation on nurses' knowledge and skills. Methods: A repeated experimental design was used for a single sample group of 47 nurses working for a general hospital. The nurses were tested on their skill of CPR 3 times at an interval of 4 m1onths. In order to test nurses' knowledge and skills, the researcher used a CPR assessment program linked to an adult practice doll (Anne). Results: 1) The amount of decrease of nurses' knowledge about CPR between points of time was wide between first and second points of time but small between the second and third time owing to the effects of reeducation between the two points of time. 2) Nurses' skills between the first and second time dropped but they improved between the second and third time owing to the effects of reeducation. Conclusion: As confirmed by the above findings, reeducation of CPR clearly affects nurses' knowledge and skills. Given the fact that the same period of time (4 months) elapsed between the 3 tests, it could be argued that the reeducation at the second test served to maintain nurses' knowledge and enhance their skills.

  • Failure data of systems in many field can be erroneous, which influences the reliability analysis of the systems. The general form of failure data is right censored data with accurate time information. But due to its nature of data collection in the military field, failure time of one-shot weapon systems can have errors which are related to the maintenance period. So this paper suggests a model that can reduce the error by utilizing interval censored data as an alternative to right censored data in weibull distribution.

  • From March 1986 to March 1991, 29 patients were operated due to cardiac tamponade at the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, Masan Koryo General Hospital. Among them, 19cases were traumatic origin and 10 were Non traumatic origin. A] Traumatic cardiac tamponade Out of 19 cases, 12 cases were resulted from penetrating injury and 7 cases from trauma. Average time interval from arrival to operation was 91 minutes[15min.~8.5hr.] in penetrating injury group. On the other hand, average time of in cases of blunt trauma was more than 3hours because of the difficulties in diagnosis. Four deaths occured in 19 cases [mortality rate: 21.1%] 3 in blunt trauma group[42.9%] and 1 in penetrating group[8.3%]. In view of our experience, the prognosis was closely correlated with injury mode, initial vital sign and mental status. There was no close correlation between prognosis and cardiac injury site. B] Non traumatic cardiac tamponade The etiologies were malignancy[4], non-spesific pericarditis[3], tuberculosis[1], pyogenic[1] and cardiomyopathy[1]. All of the cases in which performed tube pericardiostomy were the cases that showed no response to conservative treatment and repeat per-icardiocentesis. There was one posoperative death.

  • In this paper, it is called nonlinear-symbol CPFSK(NCPFSK) which is modulated by the nonlinear function of information carrying phase function within all symbol interval produce time invariant trellis structure. In general, the bit error probability performance of CPFSK modultion scheme within given signal constellation is determined from the number of memory elementsof continuous phase encoder, i.e. number of state. In this paper the number of state of analyticall designed NCPFSK is time invariant. And the nonlinear symbol mapping function of the proposed moudlation produces the nonlinear symbol andthe phase state of the modulation for updating the phase function of NCPFSK. It si shown in this paper nonlinear symbol CPFSK with multiple TCM to make further improvements in d$^{2}$, and analyzed BER performance in AWGN channel envioronments.hannel envioronments.
