Objectives: This study investigated factors associated with the retention of people living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) on antiretroviral therapy (ART) during the first 3 years of treatment. Methods: A retrospective study using electronic health records was conducted at a tertiary hospital in Jakarta, Indonesia. Adult HIV-positive patients who started ART from 2010 until 2020 were included. A binary logistic regression model was used to identify factors associated with ART retention in the first 3 years. Results: In total, 535 respondents were included in the analysis. The ART retention rates for the first, second, and third years were 83.7%, 79.1%, and 77.2%, respectively. The multivariate analysis revealed a negative association between CD4 count when starting ART and retention. Patients with CD4 counts >200 cells/mL were 0.65 times less likely to have good retention than those with CD4 counts ≤200 cells/mL. The year of starting ART was also significantly associated with retention. Patients who started ART in 2010-2013 or 2014-2016 were less likely to have good retention than those who started ART in 2017-2020, with adjusted odds ratios of 0.52 and 0.40, respectively. Patients who received efavirenz-based therapy were 1.69 times more likely to have good retention than those who received nevirapine (95% confidence interval, 1.05 to 2.72). Conclusions: Our study revealed a decline in ART retention in the third year. The CD4 count, year of enrollment, and an efavirenz-based regimen were significantly associated with retention. Patient engagement has long been a priority in HIV programs, with interventions being implemented to address this issue.

While the use of radiation in the medical field provides diagnosis and treatment with important benefits, we cannot deny that the radiation bombing causes some hindrances. The expansion of radiation use in modem medicine is essential, so the radiation use and preparation of proper measure for safety management has risen as a pressing subject. Therefore, in order to make defensive plans for the prevention of health obstacles to general users of radiation and for the provision of basic data of the health education programs to radiation workers by grasping the knowledge, attitude and behavior towards the radiation safety management of radiation workers in each medical institution and by analyzing the factors that affect the actions of radiation safety management, in this study we conducted questionnaires from September 26 to November 5, 2001 targeting 805 radiation workers in 108 medical institutions including university hospitals, general hospitals, hospitals, clinics and public health centers etc. located in Seoul, four metropolitan cities and small and medium cities, and has obtained the following results. 1. The average point of knowledge on the radiation safety management was 10.96 out of 15. As for the general characteristics, the level of knowledge on radiation safety management was higher with older age, high education background and longer career. 2. The average point of attitude on the radiation safety management was 66.36 out of 75. Objectives : To determine the prevalence of prostatitis symptoms in the general population by questionnaire survey and to measure the effect of prostatitis symptoms on quality of life(QOL). Materials & Methods : A cross sectional community-based epidemiologic study was performed on 2,034 men, living in the Seoul metropolitan area using stepwise random sampling. Out of 2,034 interviewees, 1,356 men who were older than 40 and provided sufficient information were selected for this study. The questionnaires were completed by well trained interviewers. Contents of the questionnaires included demographic data, the Prostatitis Symptom Index(PSI), the International Prostate Symptom Score(IPSS), a general health questionnaire section and a sexual health questionnaire section. The PSI was composed of a sum of the scores from three questions about dysuria, penile pain and perineal pain and it ranged 0 to 12. Incidence of prostatitis symptoms was defined by a score of 4 or more and the reference group was defined as consisting of those with a score of 3 or less. The rate of incidence of prostatitis symptoms was assessed according to age and the difference of QOL between the prostatitis symptoms group and the reference group. Results : The overall positive rate of prostatitis symptoms measured by the PSI, in men older than 40, living in the Seoul metropolitan area, was 4.5%(61/1,356), adjusted to 4.8% by the relative proportion of this age group in the general population of the Seoul metropolitan area as compared to Korea and the World. The proportion of the group with prostatitis symptoms assessed by the PSI did not increase with age although the proportion of participants with moderate to severe lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) did increase with age. The group with prostatitis symptoms suffered from a much greater incidence of LUTS compared to the reference group (p<0.05). The QOL scores of the IPSS, and the general health and sexual health status of the group with prostatitis symptoms, were worse than those of the reference group.(p<0.05). Conclusions : The positive rate of prostatitis symptoms in men older than 40, living in the Seoul metropolitan area, was 4.8% and it didn't increase with age. The general QOL of the group with prostatitis symptoms was much worse than that of the reference group.

This study was to identify factors related to the experience of violence damage, focusing on health risk behavior of multi-cultural and general adolescents in Korea. Data from the 15th online survey of youth health behavior (2019) was used to analyze 35,574 adolescents. The data were analyzed using complex sample analysis by using SPSS/Win 22.0. The multi-cultural adolescents had significantly higher experience of smoking and habitual drug use and violence damage than those ordinary adolescents. In both multi-cultural and general adolescents, the more they did not live with their family, the more they had smoking experience and habitual drug use experience, the higher they experienced violence. The experience of violence victimization of general youth was significantly related to gender, school, economic status, and drinking experience. To prevent the violence victimization of adolescents, social support for adolescents who do not live with their families is required, and careful attention is needed to adolescents who have smoking and drug use experience. In addition, since multi-cultural youth are more vulnerable to health risk behaviors and violence damage than general youth, educational programs are needed to induce multi-cultural youth to practice correct health behaviors and prevent experiences of violence.
New epidemics of infectious diseases often involve health care workers. In this short communication we present a case report of a health care professional who became the first case of influenza H1N1 virus to be notified in the United Arab Emirates. There are several issues related to workplace considerations and general public health, including preventive measures, the need for isolation of the patient, dealing with contacts, return to work, and communication with the workforce.
This study is concentrated on the concept of health promotion through the consideration and the review of articles and books concerning the theory and practice of health promotion. The study results are as follows: Firstly, the early definitions of health promotion are behavior-oriented concepts in general. Secondly, the concepts of health promotion generally regard environmental factors as of great importance. Thirdly, the concepts of health promotion attach great importance to the aspect of policy. Fourthly, health promotion programs usually need the support from the study results of social epidemiology. Fifthly, some distinguished academic fields have been fused into an integrated field under the concept of health promotion. Sixthly, the two key concepts of health promotion are behavior and environment. This study concludes that health promotion can be defined as "the optimal combination of educational, medical and policy resources to maximize the health potential of people most efficiently or effectively through the change of their behavioral and environmental factors at the level of individual, organization or society.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the construct equivalence of the general five factors of health behavior and to compare the latent means between adolescents with a health problem and those without in Korea. Methods: The 2009 KYRBS (Korean Youth Risk Behavior Survey) data were used for the analysis. Multi-group confirmatory factor analysis was performed to test whether the scale had configural, metric, and scalar invariances across the existence of health problems in adolescents. Results: Configural, metric, and factor invariances were satisfied for the latent mean analysis (LMA) between adolescents with health problem and those without. Adolescents with health problem and those without were not different in the LMA of all factors. Conclusion: Health providers should give more interest to the group of adolescents with health problems and consider prudential school life to the same group.

Objectives: With increasing concerns for the rapidly growing minority population in South Korea, this literature review addressed a range of mental health risks among multiethnic youths (MY) in South Korea by 1) comparing mental health outcomes with those of native-born youths and 2) identifying multiple layers of relevant environmental factors, from family and school relationships to culture. Methods: We reviewed 54 studies that fulfilled specific inclusion criteria. Results: Multiple common risk/protective factors, including family separation, family relationship quality, parental socioeconomic and mental health status, social relationships at school, and cultural acceptance, were noted. Conclusion: In general, empirical evidence indicates that minority youths have relatively heightened risks for emotional and behavioral problems. Future studies must elucidate the complex interplay between multiple risk and protective factors and the long-term adaptation and mental health service utilization of MY.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the role conflict, emotional labor, and nursing performance outcomes among nurses in comprehensive nursing care service wards and general wards. Methods: Data were collected 10 hospitals located in B city that operated a comprehensive nursing care service for more than one year. A total of 237 nurses were included in this study: 118 in comprehensive nursing care service wards and 119 in general wards. Data were collected using questionnaires and statistically analyzed with $x^2$ test and t-test. Data were analyzed using SPSS win 22.0 program. Results: Role conflict was lower among nurses in comprehensive nursing care wards than in general wards, and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion: Therefore, organizational support interventions, such as sufficient understanding of others' roles and on-the-job training on nursing, should be planned to reduce role conflict and emotional labor, and systems and policies should be established to improve nursing performance outcomes.
