The purpose of this study was to examine the learning outcome of problem-based learning as an efficient teaching method to improve the competencies of great talents for future society. A general education course of a university that was one of teaching profession courses titled "prevention of school violence and countermeasures" was provided in the form of PBL, and data were gathered, which were reflective journals, evaluation sheet and observational journals. As a result, PBL produced learning effects such as understanding and applying learning contents, fostering cooperativeness, problem-solving skills and a sense of responsibility, extended thinking and good understanding of PBL. Also, that provided a great opportunity for the students to build up their character by learning caring and by improving cooperativeness, a sense of responsibility and communicative competency, which preservice teachers should have. The findings of the study suggest that the expansion of PBL is necessary to bolster problem- solving skills, self-directed learning, cooperativeness and creativity that are competencies required in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

The research was conducted on 238 marine sports participants by clarifying the relationship among self-efficacy, sociality, and organization culture, to eliminate the organizational(home, school, club, workplace, etc.) culture maladjustment phenomenon which is caused by personal stress, the lack of physical activity, and the lack of sociality due to the rapid change of modern society and enhance sociality, adjustment to society and the lack of creativity due to the rigid hierarchy and contribute to organization culture through marine sports among sports which we enjoy with nature. Firstly, according to general self-efficacy, and social characteristics of the organizational culture and the gender differences in higher than women in all sub-variables of the sub-factors of self-efficacy and self-regulation, sociability, organizational culture, sub-culture and develop cultural factors agreed man showed that in the sub-factors of organization culture showed that the development of high culture and hierarchical culture in the age of 20s. Secondly, in terms of the effect of self-efficacy of marine sports participants on sociality, it is found that self-regulation and level of difficulty positively influence on the culture of agreement, the culture of development and the culture of hierarchy. Lastly, in terms of the effect of self-efficacy of marine sports participants on organizational culture, it is shown that self-regulation has positive influence on the culture of agreement, the culture of development and the culture of hierarchy.

The purposes of the study is to see as to how much of changes has occurred in the newly revised Home Economics Textbooks required by the 6th Curriculum as compared to those by the former the 5th Curriculum, and to seek future policy directions which can be improved even better, if any, for further revision. To implement this proposal, the study employs 8 different textbooks published in 1997 geared for the 6th Curriculum for data base. The components of the contents divides into two major parts. The first part falls into a category of holistic analysis of the textbooks, which gives a general perspective of the changes in the textbook revised. It includes those areas of changes in the total number of pages, cover page, illustrations, table of contents, appendices, unit cover, introductory remarks, summary and evaluation, etc. It also covers the information on authors of textbook. The latter part consists of several specific areas of major changes occurred in the textbooks for the 6th Curriculum. It covers such areas of changes in the composition of category and its weight, laboratory experiences, and illustrations and tables. To conclude the study, among many findings, two major points are of great importance to mention here. First, the new textbooks have adopted more of varieties in physical appearances and contents per se as to the older ones. And yet, there still found a weakness in numbers of authors participated to a full reflection of contents variety. In addition, the background of authors reflected on an unrealistic idealism which lacks the on-site information provided by the school teachers. Second, the strict regulations created by the Ministry of Education for developing textbook found restricting the authors creativity and thus contents variety of textbooks. Those restricting factors include letter type and size, coloring, paper quality, and volume size.
This study aims to investigate science teaching and learning for the gifted in comparison with regular classrooms in elementary schools. A questionnaire was developed to survey gifted and general students' perceptions to elementary science teaching and teaming with employing a teaching and learning model for the gifted by Maker and Neilson (1995, 1996). The 28 item questionnaire consisted of four categories of content, teaching and teaming process, student product, and learning environment, and each category included six to nine items. Randomly selected 114 students from gifted classes and 99 students for regular classes responded to the questionnaire through the use of five-point Likert scale. It was found that there are significant differences between gifted and regular classes of science at all four categories of the teaching and learning model for the gifted. Therefore, science teaching and teaming for the gifted seemed to be differentiated from regular classes and emphasized students' creativity. However, no differences were appeared in a few items: study of gifted people and research methods (gifted=3.0; regular=.21 F=2.54), students' freedom of choice for topics of lessons, tasks, etc., (gifted=3.1; regular=3.0, F=0.31), student product addressed to real audience (gifted=2.8, regular=2.6, F=0.96), and students' high mobility to seek for data in library, etc. during class periods (gifted=2.3, regular= 2.3, F=0.01). It was concluded that science education for the gifted in Korea calls for quality improvement in terms of teaching and teaming in various aspects.

This stady was carried out to define Gifted student for science, model for selection, the tools and methods and related theory for the selection of the Gifted students for the science in primary school level. Also the developed tools and materials are applied to student and analysed the results to generalize the methods for the selection of Gifted students for science. The definition of Gifted students for science was carried out by the three-ring conception model by Renzulli(1982) and Lee long-Sung which defined the characteristics as three parts such as above average ability, creativity and tesk comitment. The Gifted students for science upper 2 percent which have three characteristics at the same times, namely overlapping three characteristics. The model for the selection of Gifted students consist of four step; such as screeing, selection,differentiation, judgement. The materials for the selection are input at each stage, analysed the results and standard for the selection are made. In the first stage screening, 202 students are selected from the 5060 of 4th and 5th graders according to their achievment, intellecture ability and observation of students activity. In second selection and third differentiation stage, 65 students are seletted according to their achievement In this study it is approved that the Gifted students in science have to be selection by various test such as achievement, intellectual ability, aptitude in science, inquiry activity, manual skill etc, rather rather then simple test such as achievement and intellecture ability. Also it is important to select upper 2 percent who have general abilites overlapping three characteristics mentioned in definition of Gifted students in science and selections model
The aim of this study was to evaluate the dental specialty system from the viewpoint of korean constitution. An attempt to introduce a dental specialty system has been repeated many times, but it was interrupted by the dispute of the interested parties, especially general practice dentists, trained dentists and the authorites concerned. The korean constitutional court decided on July 16th 1998 that the lack of the examination to be a dental specialist was against the korean constitutional law and the authority concerned should prepare the legal procedure for the dental specialist examination in proper time. Though the dental specialty system may be discussed in a variety of view, it should be established on the ground of the korean constitutionalism. According to the korean constitution, all the people can develop their abilities at the maximum and have their dignity, preciousness and right to seek their happiness. With the view of spirits of the constitution, dental specialty system should be more open widely to those who want to be a specialist. It should be also allowed to the dental specialists that they reveal their specialty and creativity. However, the representatives of the korean dental association(KDA) decided at the 50th annual meeting that the dental specialists should not reveal or annonce their specialties at the first step of the dental care and all the present dentists give up to be specialists. As conclusion of this study the proposals of the KDA seems to be against the korean constitution and hardly fulfills the needs of the times.
This study investigated the schemes to apply key competencies to middle school math teaching. Key competencies (KCs, hereafter), however, have been discussed only at the national-level general curriculum. Through the survey with mathematics educators, we selected key competencies that can be better developed through mathematics subject. We investigate ways to apply key competencies into math teaching and learning with the math-talented students who usually lack interpersonal skills and communication skills. Along with KC goals, we selected graphs (or graphing skills in math contents) as learning goals, and we designed and implemented competency-based instruction for the gifted. Through participant observation of math teaching and learning, we identified students' improvement in interpersonal skills and communication skills. We also identified students' skill development in other key competencies such as creativity, problem solving, information processing skills, etc., which can be developed through mathematics teaching and learning. Through this study, we found out that key competencies can be developed through mathematics teaching and we need in-depth studies on this matter.
Advances in Information Communication Technologies (ICT) have demonstrated tremendous potential for solving development challenges and improving development processes, culminating in the new Development 2.0. Many development practitioners have embraced ICT (particularly on Web 2.0 and mobile phone technologies and applications), which have become hot topics in both the development community and the policy community as they engage in development practice and dialogue. Despite this excitement, there lacks among the policy community a robust understanding of the powers and pitfalls of ICT in development, executed actions to back the excited chatter, and dissemination of this understanding to practitioners and policymakers alike. We conducted a literature review, interviewed experts, and engaged in discussion with leaders in international development and science and technology policy to provide an operational framework base in which to view ICT in development. This framework regards ICT as tools that support more effective and efficient community development actions and appropriate consideration of general guidelines, which enable better engagement across and within sectors and individuals. Flexibility and accountability are critical requirements pervading throughout the various actions and guidelines, which promote transparent, partnership-based, and sustainable development. We highlight the strengths and weaknesses of ICT to focus on the cautions to keep ICT access and distribution in context, understand the various levels of technologies and services, and dig below the surface as excitement about ICT increases and threatens to become a short-term solution. We offer ideas for specific programs that policymakers can implement to contribute to a more efficient and effective development process to ultimately support global human development, but stress the endless possibilities that can be explored with creativity and flexibility beyond what is proposed here.
