  • The potential toxicological effects of aristolochic acid (AA), a natural component in Aristolochiaceae family, were investigated. The 13-week toxicity study consisted of groups of 10 SD rat/sex administrated water containing 0, 0.05, 0.5, or 5 mg/kg per day AA (Study 1). The tested groups were terminated on Test Day 90 due to mortality and overt clinical signs of toxicity.(omitted)

  • Injection molding have been used for manufacturing various fields of automotive interior trims for years. The demands on the injection molding technique are grown with the further development of the automobile technique and the design presentations for cost reduction and environment-friendly. This paper shows that multi-component injection conditions are different from general injection, also shows how to optimize part design and mold design and how to manufacturing through the efficient use of multi-component injection in development process using core back system. To fulfill this purpose, all influential process parameters related to the quality of automobile parts were analyzed in terms of the correlation between them. Base on that, a innovative process will be developed by injection engineers to implement it in practice.

  • In this paper, a new method for the mixed image separation is presented using the independent component analysis, the innovation process, and the expectation-maximization. In general, the independent component analysis (ICA) is one of the widely used statistical signal processing scheme that represents the information from observations as a set of random variables in the form of linear combinations of another statistically independent component variables. In various useful applications, ICA provides a more meaningful representation of the data than the principal component analysis through the transformation of the data to be quasi-orthogonal to each other, which can be utilized in linear p...

  • Two-component models (normal star and degenerate star components) are the simplest realization of clusters with a mass spectrum because the high mass stars quickly evolve off leaving degenerate stars behind, while low mass stars survive for a long time as main-sequence stars. In the present study we examine the post-collapse evolution of globular clusters using two-component Fokker-Planck models that include three-body binary heating. We confirm that a simple parameter ${\epsilon}{\equiv} (E_{tot}/t_{rh})/(E_c/t_{rc})$ well describes the occurrence of gravothermal oscillations of two-component clusters. Also, we find that the degree of instability depends on the steepness of the mass function such that clusters with a steeper mass function are less exposed to instability.

  • A study was conducted to determine the interdependence among the conformation traits of 28 "Pallaresa" cows using principal component analysis. Originally 21 body linear measurements were obtained, from which eight traits are subsequently eliminated. From the principal components analysis, with raw varimax rotation of the transformation matrix, two principal components were extracted, which accounted for 65.8% of the total variance. The first principal component alone explained 51.6% of the variation, and tended to describe general size, while the second principal component had its loadings for back-sternal diameter. The two extracted principal components, which are traits related to dorsal heights and back-sternal diameter, could be considered in selection programs.

  • A general theory is developed which enables closed-cup flash points of mixtures of flammable and non-flammable liquid to be estimated from a knowledge of a certain properties of flammability diagram by thermodynamic method. The estimated equations is shown the effect of both the flame inhibiting properties of the vapor of the non-flammable component and the relative volatility of that component. The vapor phase flame inhibition effect results in a even greater elevation of flash points than the rotative volatility of that component. Especially in cases of similar vapor phase flame inhibition of the non-flammable component, the rotative volatility is affected greater elevation of flash points(extinguishing effect).

  • General vehicle is evaluated by its acceleration, fuel economy, NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) and subjective (such as launching feel) performance. The first step to enhance its performance is to know how much each component affects on the vehicle performance. It is very important to know what is the key factor of the component among many specifications. Hydraulic torque converter can be expressed by means of its performance curve (torque ratio and capacity factor). In this paper, the key factor of torque converter, which affect vehicle performance, are explored by using Taguchi method. Moreover, general sensitivity analysis method is compared with Taguchi's experiment.

  • The prevalence of obesity in Korean children is estimated to be around 10%, and has increased significantly over the past 20 years. Metabolic syndrome, which includes central obesity, glucose intolerance, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and hypertension, is a well documented risk factor for cardiovascular diseases, but there is no general consensus concerning its definition for children. In this study, ablut 30-40% of overweight or obese children had metabolic syndrome compared to less than 10% in the general population. Dyslipidemia was the most common component and hyperglycemia was the least common component of metabolic syndrome. If the prevalence of childhood obesity continues to increase, it is highly likely that the prevalence of the metabolic syndrome will also increase. These findings emphasize the importance of preventing obesity in addition to the diagnosis and management of metabolic syndrome in Korean adolescents.

  • The article clarifies the definition and components of the ICT competence of future teachers, justifies the introduction of a motivational-value component. ICT competence of future teachers has a four-component structure: motivational-value, general-use, general pedagogical, subject-pedagogical components. The levels (reproductive, productive, creative), criteria and indicators of the formation of ICT-competence of students of a pedagogical college are determined, the content of these levels (reproductive, productive, creative) is disclosed, respectively.
