This paper proposes a method for effectively segmenting the hand region using a widely popular RGB color-based webcam. This performs the empirical preprocessing method four times to remove the noise. First, we use Gaussian smoothing to remove the overall image noise. Next, the RGB image is converted into the HSV and the YCbCr color model, and global fixed binarization is performed based on the statistical value for each color model, and the noise is removed by the bitwise-OR operation. Then, RDP and flood fill algorithms are used to perform contour approximation and inner area fill operations to remove noise. Finally, ROI (hand region) is selected by eliminating noise through morphological operation and determining a threshold value proportional to the image size. This study focuses on the noise reduction and can be used as a base technology of gesture recognition application.

In this paper, the performance of linear and hard-limiting correlation receivers for DS/SSMA BPSK power line communication system is analyzed. Strong impulsive noise of power line is modeled with Chan's noise model, and the performance of both receivers is analyzed in terms of parameters such as ratio of power spectrum density of impulsive noise to that background noise, ratio in impulsive noise width th that of data bit, and interarrival time of impulsive noise. And also multiple access capacity is evaluated with Gaussian approximation of multiple access interference. The results of this analysis reveal that the performance of linear correlation receiver is superior to that of hard-limiting correlation receiver when $N_1/N_b$ is small and is close to 1. But the BER and the multiple access capacity of hard-limiting correlation receiver becomes better in comparison with linear correlation receiver as $N_1/N_b$ increases.

This paper presents bit splitting methods to apply multilevel modulation to iterative codes such as turbo code, low density parity check code and turbo product code. Log-likelihood ratio method splits multilevel symbols to soft decision symbols using the received in-phase and quadrature component based on Gaussian approximation. However it is too complicate to calculate and to implement hardware due to exponential and logarithm calculation. Therefore this paper presents Euclidean, MAX, sector and center focusing method to reduce the high complexity of LLR method. Also, this paper proposes optimal soft symbol split method for three kind of iterative codes. Futhermore, 16-APSK modulator method with double ring structure for applying DVB-S2 system and 16-QAM modulator method with lattice structure for T-DMB system are also analyzed.
We assessed the feasibility of discrete wavelet transform (DWT) applied for the spectral processing to enhance the estimation performance quality of soil organic matters using visible-near infrared spectra and mapped their distribution via block Kriging model. Continuum-removal and $1^{st}$ derivative transform as well as Haar and Daubechies DWT were used to enhance spectral variation in terms of soil organic matter contents and those spectra were put into the PLSR (Partial Least Squares Regression) model. Estimation results using raw reflectance and transformed spectra showed similar quality with $R^2$ > 0.6 and RPD> 1.5. These values mean the approximation prediction on soil organic matter contents. The poor performance of estimation using DWT spectra might be caused by coarser approximation of DWT which not enough to express spectral variation based on soil organic matter contents. The distribution maps of soil organic matter were drawn via a spatial information model, Kriging. Organic contents of soil samples made Gaussian distribution centered at around 20 g $kg^{-1}$ and the values in the map were distributed with similar patterns. The estimated organic matter contents had similar distribution to the measured values even though some parts of estimated value map showed slightly higher. If the estimation quality is improved more, estimation model and mapping using spectroscopy may be applied in global soil mapping, soil classification, and remote sensing data analysis as a rapid and cost-effective method.

This paper presents an analysis of a hybrid direct-sequence/slow frequency hopped code division multiple access(DS/SFH-CDMA) system employing noncoherent M-ary frequency shift keying(MFSK) modulation in a multiple m-distribution fading environment. Multipath interfer- ence(MPI) and multiuser interference(MUI) is taken into accout and the spectral efficiency is calculated for uncoded as well as simple channel coding systems. The predetection multipath CCI canceller in conjunction with convolution coding is employed for improving the bit error rate(BER) performance. The BER of noncoherent hybrid system is obtained using a Gaussian interference approximation. From the results, we know that the error performance more deteriorates as the depth of fading becomes deeper. The DS part of the modulation combats the multipath interference, whereas the FH part is a predetection against large multiuser interference. It is shown that, for the con- sidered types of a channel coding, the use of a predetection coding is still essential for obtained a satisfactory bit error performance. The results show that the capacity of the DS/SFG-CDMA MFSK communication system increases in proportion to the length of PN code sequence in the presence of AWGN and MUI. In m-distribution fading environment the capacity increases in proportion to the fading index. The capacity is increased and error performance is improved when the CCI Canceller and Convolution code technique are adopted, respectively. From the results, it is known that the error performance of $4\times10^{-2}$ by adopting Canceller technique. Also convolutional coding technique is the improvement of error performance attains about $10^{-5}$ in code rate 1/2.

In this paper we propose a Pre-rake system applied with a frequency domain equalizer in TDD/CDMA multi-code transmission. The Pre-rake system has been well known technique in TDD/CDMA to make a receiver simple. However, it still has residual losses of path diversity and signal to noise ratio (SNR). However, gathering all the residual paths demands an additional hardware such as a rake combiner at the receiver. For the reason Pre/Post-rake system has already been proposed at up/downlink correlated channel conditionunder the assumption of noisier channel. There is a trade-off between the first purpose of Pre-rake that makes hardware simple at the receiver and the performance improvement. From the point the frequency domain equalizer (FDE) can be considered in Pre/Post-rake to supply the receiver with the flexible equalizing methods with rather reduced complexity compared with time domain rake combiner or equalizers. Pre-rake itself increases the number of multipath, which results from the convolution of Pre-rake filter and wireless channel, and FDE must be well matched to Pre/Post-rake, while it considers the relationship of hardware complexity and the performance. In this paper, the Pre-rake/Post-FDE system is introduced at TDD/CDMA multi-code transmission. In addition, the cyclic prefix reduction method in the proposed system is introduced, and the theoretical analysis to the proposed system is given by assuming Gaussian approximation, and finally the numerical simulation results are provided.
Bayesian inversion is a stable approach to infer the subsurface structure with the limited data from geophysical explorations. In geophysical inverse process, due to the finite and discrete characteristics of field data and modeling process, some uncertainties are inherent and therefore probabilistic approach to the geophysical inversion is required. Bayesian framework provides theoretical base for the confidency and uncertainty analysis for the inference. However, most of the Bayesian inversion require the integration process of high dimension, so massive calculations like a Monte Carlo integration is demanded to solve it. This method, though, seemed suitable to apply to the geophysical problems which have the characteristics of highly non-linearity, we are faced to meet the promptness and convenience in field process. In this study, by the Gaussian approximation for the observed data and a priori information, fast Bayesian inversion scheme is developed and applied to the model problem with electric well logging and dipole-dipole resistivity data. Each covariance matrices are induced by geostatistical method and optimization technique resulted in maximum a posteriori information. Especially a priori information is evaluated by the cross-validation technique. And the uncertainty analysis was performed to interpret the resistivity structure by simulation of a posteriori covariance matrix.

Theoretical analyses have been tried to design high power and stable operating SLD at 1.55${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ wavelength range which is the lowest absorption wavelength in optical fiber. The materials of active layer and SCH layer were chosen as conventional In1-xGaxAsyPl-y quaternary composition systems. From the transverse mode and the lateral mode analyses of waveguide, the optical power distributions and the optical confinement factor have been studied for single-mode high power operation. According to these analyses, it was calculated the composition and the thickness of SCH layer to obtain the maximum optical confinement factor. In order to obtain low values of the reflectivity, we used the window region and the lateral tilted angle between tile active region and window region. And the reflectivity of SLD was calculated with the gaussian beam approximation and mode analysis. From these researches, it was confirmed for several results to fabricate the efficient and stable SLD. In case of using $1.3\mum$, InGaAsP SCH layer, the layer thickness was obtained $0.08\mum$, to get the maximum optical confinement factor. Using $0.2\mum$, active layer thickness and $0.08\mum$, SCH layer thickness, the window region length is about $100\mum$ without An coating, $10\mum$ in 1% AR coating to obtain about 10-4 reflectivity. When the tilted angle is about $10~15^{\circ}$, the reflectivity is about 10-3. From these results, if the window region length and tilted angle were controlled appropriately in given device structure, it was confirmed that it is possible to fabricate the stable SLD without AR coating analytically.
The spin-rotation constants of the proton and tile fluorine nucleus in C $H_4$, Si $H_4$, Ge $H_4$, C $F_4$, Si $F_4$ and Ge $F_4$ were determined experimentally by the molecular beam magnetic resonance method. From the Hamiltonian and the high field approximation, the quantized energy level is given by the following equation. W $m_{I}$$m_{J}$=- $g_{I}$$m_{I}$H- $g_{J}$$m_{J}$H- $C_{av}$$m_{I}$$m_{J}$, where $c_{av}$ is one third of the trace of the C tensor. In the nuclear resonance experiment, the proton and the fluorine nuclear resonance curves consist of many unresolved lines given by v=- $g_{J}$H- $C_{av}$$m_{I}$, and a Gaussian approximation is made to correlate $c_{av}$ to the experimentally obtained half-width of the resonance curve. In the rotational resonance experiment, the five resonance peaks as predicted by v=- $g_{I}$H- $c_{av}$$m_{I}$, $m_{I}$=0, $\pm$1 and $\pm$2, were all observed. The magnitude of car was determined by measuring the frequency distance between two adjacent peaks. The sign of $c_{av}$ was determined by the side peak suppression technique. The technique is described, and the sign and magnitude of the spin-rotation constant cav are summarized as following: for C $H_4$ -10.3$\pm$0.4tHz(from the rotational resonance), for SiH +3.71$\pm$0.08kHz(from the nuclear resonance), for Ge $H_4$+3.79$\pm$0.13kHz(from the nuclear resonance), for C $F_4$, -6.81$\pm$0.08kHz(from the rotational resonance), for Si $F_4$, -2.46$\pm$0.06kHz(from the rotational resonance), and finally for Ge $F_4$-1.84$\pm$0.04kHz(from the rotational resonance).onal resonance).esonance).
Purpose: factor analysis and independent component analysis (ICA) has been used for handling dynamic image sequences. Theoretical advantages of a newly suggested ICA method, ensemble ICA, leaded us to consider applying this method to the analysis of dynamic myocardial $H_2^{15}O$ PET data. In this study, we quantified patients' blood flow using the ensemble ICA method. Materials and Methods: Twenty subjects underwent $H_2^{15}O$ PET scans using ECAT EXACT 47 scanner and myocardial perfusion SPECT using Vertex scanner. After transmission scanning, dynamic emission scans were initiated simultaneously with the injection of $555{\sim}740$ MBq $H_2^{15}O$. Hidden independent components can be extracted from the observed mixed data (PET image) by means of ICA algorithms. Ensemble learning is a variational Bayesian method that provides an analytical approximation to the parameter posterior using a tractable distribution. Variational approximation forms a lower bound on the ensemble likelihood and the maximization of the lower bound is achieved through minimizing the Kullback-Leibler divergence between the true posterior and the variational posterior. In this study, posterior pdf was approximated by a rectified Gaussian distribution to incorporate non-negativity constraint, which is suitable to dynamic images in nuclear medicine. Blood flow was measured in 9 regions - apex, four areas in mid wall, and four areas in base wall. Myocardial perfusion SPECT score and angiography results were compared with the regional blood flow. Results: Major cardiac components were separated successfully by the ensemble ICA method and blood flow could be estimated in 15 among 20 patients. Mean myocardial blood flow was $1.2{\pm}0.40$ ml/min/g in rest, $1.85{\pm}1.12$ ml/min/g in stress state. Blood flow values obtained by an operator in two different occasion were highly correlated (r=0.99). In myocardium component image, the image contrast between left ventricle and myocardium was 1:2.7 in average. Perfusion reserve was significantly different between the regions with and without stenosis detected by the coronary angiography (P<0.01). In 66 segment with stenosis confirmed by angiography, the segments with reversible perfusion decrease in perfusion SPECT showed lower perfusion reserve values in $H_2^{15}O$ PET. Conclusions: Myocardial blood flow could be estimated using an ICA method with ensemble learning. We suggest that the ensemble ICA incorporating non-negative constraint is a feasible method to handle dynamic image sequence obtained by the nuclear medicine techniques.
