Valve leak accidents in petrochemistry plants and gas utilities cause human and property damage. The main reason why happen gas inhalation, poisoning, fire and explosion accidents is gas valve leakage. To prevent gas leakage, inspectors check the facilities in the field. And they are at risk of gas leak accidents. So we applied IoT-based risk assessment, monitoring and automatic control system. It can detect both internal and external gas leakage, do real-time monitoring of industrial valve in the plant by using hybrid sensor. As the new safety management system for industrial valve is developed, it needs method to evaluate device performance and environmental components for the system. This study is about development of method to verify performance of the explosion-proofed hybrid sensing system include gas detector and optical fiber sensor supporting wire and wireless communication.

With the decrease of the agricultural population in Korea, the workers who is vulnerable to labor are increasing in agricultural industry because of aging, feminization of population. They are exposed in poor working environment with higher temperature and concentrations of dust, gas. Higher concentration of harmful gas and dust can cause chronic and acute disease to workers depending on exposure intensity and frequency. In order to improve the working environment in the livestock facilities, It is important to secure monitoring data of the thermal environment and the concentration of harmful gases and fine dust. Multi-point measurement was performed to analyze the regional environmental conditions in the pig rooms. When analyzing the working environment, video monitoring was conducted to analyze the concentration changes of ammonia, hydrogen sulfide and fine dust according to worker movement and work type. Ammonia and hydrogen sulfide monitoring result showed 1.5~2 times higher concentrations than other work when working in the pigs living zone, and 2~4 times higher than other work when working to increase the activity of pigs. In the case of fine dust, the result was 1.3 times higher than the worker's exposure standard in a specific work. The concentrations of gases and dusts from pig farms are not of concern for acute poisoning in normal work, but there is a risk of chronic respiratory disease if they are continuously exposed. Accordingly, there is a need for development of work environment monitoring device tailored to workers and preparation of alternatives.

In this paper, we implemented a real-time remote home monitoring system which we have ported the Linux OS and HTTP(Hypertext Transfer Protocol) web server. The GoAhead web server was ported using by ARM cross compiler. And then we used the analog to digital converter ADC0809 for sensing the vii able input signal at widely separated home. We have implemented linux device driver for ADC(Analog to Digital Convertor) and CGI-C(Common Gateway Interface - C language) application program using Client pull method for monitoring real-time changing data. The factor of monitoring is temperature, intensity of illumination and gas's existence. And this system has ability which check the status of out door and gas valve. We have designed the embedded web server system for home emergency monitoring in low cost.
We have developed a new energy-consuming monitoring system that has made it possible to measure the energy consumption of a gas scrubber, one of semiconductor processing equipments, and installed this system to the gas scrubber under operating at a manufacture site. Using this system, we have measured consumptions of electric power and processing gas consumed at standby to operating mode. In case of the gas scrubber, processing gas flows continuously into it at standby and operating mode. Therefore, if the electric power has been supplied, the processing gas can flows into the device for 24 hours. Moreover, at operating of gas scrubber, the amount of electricity consumption is 5 kWh. At Standby of gas scrubber, it spends 3kwh. It is certain that the energy consumption is greater at operating mode than at standby mode. The carbon emission rates from 24 hour gas scrubber operation are 236 $kgCO_2$/day of $N_2$, 57 $kgCO_2$/day of electric power and 0.001 $kgCO_2$/day of cooling water. Most of carbon is emitted from $N_2$ gas and electric power consumption.
Gas identification techniques using pattern recognition methods were developed from four micro-electronic gas sensors for noxious gas mixture analysis. The target gases for the air quality monitoring inside vehicles were two exhaust gases, carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), and two odor gases, ammonia (NH3) and formaldehyde (HCHO). Four MEMS gas sensors with sensing materials of Pd-SnO2 for CO, In2O3 for NOX, Ru-WO3 for NH3, and hybridized SnO2-ZnO material for HCHO were fabricated. In six binary mixed gas systems with oxidizing and reducing gases, the gas sensing behaviors and the sensor responses of these methods were examined for the discrimination of gas species. The gas sensitivity data was extracted and their patterns were determined using principal component analysis (PCA) techniques. The PCA plot results showed good separation among the mixed gas systems, suggesting that the gas mixture tests for noxious gases and their mixtures could be well classified and discriminated changes.
42.5% of domestic gas accident due to human factors, and 38% occurred in residential area. Also gas accident caused by deterioration / malfunction increased more than 2 times for last 1 year. In this study we developed IoT based gas safety platform service for Home-gas safety, which secured 99.32% of data transmit accuracy, monitoring and remote control through LPWA bidirectional communication.

This paper focuses on the applicability of a continuous monitoring method on trace sulfur compounds in the ambient air by TD and GC/PFPD. The target compounds for monitoring include H2S(hydrogen sulfide), Methyl mercaptan, Dimethyl Sulfide, and Dimethyl disulfide. The result of QA/QC on monitoring instruments satisfies all the standards of Odor Measurement and Analysis Method, showing that the reproductivity of the compounds by concentration is within 10%, linearity is above 0.98 of a correlation efficient, method detection limit is 0.16 ppb by MM standard, and recovery rate is over 70%. Monitoring was conducted for two years from March 2006 to February 2008. As a result of the monitoring, the average concentration of H2S was 0.08 ppb, with the maximum concentration at 16.15 ppb. The result indicates that it is reasonable to do continuous monitoring as there appears a spontaneous event of high concentration by the condition of the site during monitoring odor-causing substances. Therefore, it is suggested that the continuous monitoring method used in this paper is appropriate to identify the characteristics of sudden occurrence and concentration variations of sulfur compounds.

In oil-filled equipment such as transformers, partial discharge or local overheating will make insulating material(oil, kraft paper, proclain and wood) be stressed and generate many sort of gases($CO,\;CO_2,\;H_2,\;C_2H_4$) which are dissolved in transformer oil. The ratio of this gas can make diagnostic tecchniques of the lifetime of transfomer so, it is important to monitoring $H_2$ gas continuously. This paper developes a system of detecting about $H_2$ gas by using $H_2$ gas sensor, and we describe operation and performance of this system
The gas sensor is essential to monitoring dangerous gases in our environment. Metal oxide (MO) gas sensors are primarily utilized for flammable, toxic and organic gases and $O_3$ because of their high sensitivity, high response and high stability. Tungsten oxides ($WO_3$) have versatile applications, particularly for gas sensor applications because of the wide bandgap and stability of $WO_3$. Nanosize $WO_3$ are synthesized using the hydrothermal method. As-prepared $WO_3$ nanopowders are in the form of nanorods and nanorulers. The crystal structure is hexagonal tungsten bronze ($MxWO_3$, x =< 0.33), characterized as a tunnel structure that accommodates alkali ions and the phase stabilizer. A gas detection test reveals that $WO_3$ can detect acetone, butanol, ethanol, and gasoline. This is the first study to report this capability of $WO_3$.

An intelligent performance diagnostic computer program of a gas turbine using the NN(Neural Network) was developed. Recently on-condition performance monitoring of major gas path components using the GPA(Gas Path Analysis) method has been performed in analyzing of engine faults. However because the types and severities of engine faults are various and complex, it is not easy that all fault conditions of the engine would be monitored only by the GPA approach Therefore in order to solve this problem, application of using the NNs for learning and diagnosis would be required. Among then, a BPN (Back Propagation Neural Network) with one hidden layer, which can use an updating learning rate, was proposed for diagnostics of PT6A-62 turboprop engine in this work.
