We have studied the anisotropy of the London penetration depth of carbon doped $MgB_2$ single crystals, which was obtained from reversible magnetization measurements with the magnetic field both parallel and perpendicular to the c-axis. Similar to the pure $MgB_2$, the anisotropy of the upper critical field ${\gamma}_H$ decrease with temperature while the anisotropy of the London penetration depth ${\gamma}_{\lambda}$ slowly increases with temperature. However, the temperature dependence of ${\gamma}_H$ is drastically reduced and the value of ${\gamma}_{\lambda}$ becomes nearly ~1 as C is introduced. These results indicate that C substitution increases impurity scattering mainly in the $\sigma$ bands. The temperature dependence of the anisotropies agree well with the theoretical predictions with impurity scattering.

The propose of this study investigated the reproduction of color image displayed on a CRT monitor, for a range of different values of monitor gamma. We have used the GOG(gain-offset-gamma) model of the behavior of the CRT. Color difference have been computed in a color space, based on the CIELAB color appearance model. The 133 patch defined linearly color sample and 24 patch defined printing color target were used, and were subjected to the influence of nine different gamma value. The result show that neutral color is increasing the decrease range of luminance black color than white color. These results are of concern in the context of the "correct" display of color reproduction.
A novel wide-tunable quadratic gamma corrector for HDTV camera applications is proposed. The new gamma corrector controls gamma value in a wide range by simple electrical adjustment of multipliers' gain. It has wide signal bandwidth of 30MHz sufficient for HDTV applications. It also simplifies the circuit design, resulting in a compact surface mounting board implementation with reduced power consumption. Simulation and experimental results confirm these characteristics.
Prompt gamma activation analysis using a thermal neutron-guided beam at Japan Atomic Energy Agency JRR-3M was applied for the precise determination of Si in silicon nitride ceramic reference materials [Japan Ceramic Reference Material (JCRM) R 003]. In this study, the standard addition method coupled with internal standard was used for the nondestructive determination of Si in the sample. Cadmium was used as internal standard to obtain the linear calibration curves and to compensate for the neutron beam variability. The analytical result of determining Si in JCRM R 003 silicon nitride fine powder ceramic reference materials using prompt gamma activation analysis was in good agreement with that obtained by classical gravimetric analysis. The relative expanded measurement uncertainty (k = 2) associated with the determined value was 2.4%.
This study was conducted to investigate the sensitivity of Arthrobacter sp. PAMC 25486 to various mutagens. ${\gamma}-ray$, UV-ray, Ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS) and hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$) were used as mutagen, and the survival rate of Arthrobacter sp. was measured at various doses of ${\gamma}-ray$ and UV-ray, and concentrations of EMS and $H_2O_2$. Decimal reduction dose ($D_{10}$ value) of Arthrobacter sp. was determined 370 Gy for a gamma irradiation treatment, 0.019 J for a UV ray, 2.5 mM for EMS, and 230 mM for $H_2O_2$. This result will be applied for the development of superior mutant strain of Arctic bacteria producing valuable compounds.

The gamma distribution is a flexible right-skewed distribution widely used in many areas, and it is of great interest to estimate the probability of a random variable exceeding a specified value in survival and reliability analysis. Therefore, the study develops a fixed-accuracy confidence interval for P(X > c) when X follows a gamma distribution, Γ(α, β), and c is a preassigned positive constant through: 1) a purely sequential procedure with known shape parameter α and unknown rate parameter β; and 2) a nonparametric purely sequential procedure with both shape and rate parameters unknown. Both procedures enjoy appealing asymptotic first-order efficiency and asymptotic consistency properties. Extensive simulations validate the theoretical findings. Three real-life data examples from health studies and steel manufacturing study are discussed to illustrate the practical applicability of both procedures.
Gamma irradiation treatment was performed at the early and mid-fermentation stages of Kimchi preparation. Changes in fermentative microorganisms and lactate dehydrogenase activity during the fermentation periods were investigated to determine proper irradiation point for extending the shelf life of Kimchi. Initial levels of acid producing bacteria and yeast in Kimchi were 10$^4$ CFU g$^{-1}$ and 10$^1$ CFU g$^{-1}$ , and reached up to 10$^{9}$ CFU g$^{-1}$ after 15 days and 10$^{7}$ CFU g$^{-1}$ after fermentation for 30 days at 1$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. The radiation resistance of acid producing bacteria in the earlier stage (D$_{10}$ value was 0.87 kGy) was higher than at the midfermentation stage (after 10 days at 1$0^{\circ}C$, D$_{10}$ value was 0.69 kGy). Microbial growth and lactate dehydrogenase activity were inhibited significantly by gamma irradiation at the early fermentation stage of Kimchi and acidification was effectively delayed during the subsequent storage period. Although the growth of fermentative microorganisms was inhibited by gamma irradiation at the mid-fermentation stage of Kimchi, lactate dehydrogenase activity was maintained and acidification continued during the storage period.
Two completely randomized block design experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of gamma irradiation processing of canola meal on performance parameters of broiler chicks (Ross 308) and protein quality of canola meal. Protein efficiency ratio (PER) and net protein ratio (NPR) were measured as indices of canola meal protein quality. Samples of canola meal were tested for nutritional value after being irradiated at dose levels 10, 20 and 30 kGy. Glucosinolate content was reduced 40, 70 and 89 percent at irradiation dose levels of 10, 20 and 30 kGy respectively (p<0.01). Percent of erucic acid in total fatty acid content increased 44, 58 and 48% as a function of radiation dose (p<0.01). Dose levels did not affect feed conversion ratio (FCR) and body weight gain of chicks (p>0.05). Liver weight was decreased by irradiation dose (p<0.05). The same trend was observed for kidney weights, but this trend was not significant (p>0.05). Gamma irradiation processing of canola meal had no significant effect on $T_3$ level in blood of chickens that consumed canola meal, but $T_4$ level of chicken blood at the 30 kGy dose decreased significantly (p<0.05). PER and NPR were not affected by radiation dose level (p>0.05). Gamma irradiation seems to be a good procedure to improve the nutritional quality of canola meal.
In this study, an optical fiber detector was constructed by using a Ce:GAGG scintillator, optical fiber, and photomultiplier. The single crystal size of the scintillator was set to $3{\times}3{\times}20mm^3$ after simulating the counting efficiency of gamma rays in the scintillator by using the MCNPX code. The constructed detector used the standard gamma ray sources $^{137}Cs$ and $^{133}Ba$ to measure radiation and analyze the spectral characteristics of gamma rays. The resulting trend curve showed excellent linearity with an R-squared value of 0.99741, and the detector characteristics were found to vary 2% or less with distance based on comparison with the MCNPX value. Furthermore, the spectroscopic analysis of the gamma ray energy from the single-ray and mixed-ray sources showed that $^{137}Cs$ had its peak energy at 662 keV, and $^{133}Ba$ had at 356 keV. It seems that if the fiber-optics detector is used, working hours and exposure of worker can be reduced.
Antifungal bacterium, Bacillus subtilis YS1 was isolated from Yusong hot spring showed broad antifungal spectrum against 12 kinds of plant pathogenic fungi and Candida albicans, animal pathogen. From the gamma($Co^{60}$) radiation sensitivity test, $D_10$ value was 2.08 kGy and it survived above 20 kGy of radiation dose. Several mutants were induced by gamma radiation. Among them, YS1-1009 mutant showed resistance against tebuconazole of herbicide, increased activity against Botryoshaeria dothidea and ligninase activity. YS67 mutant was antifungal deficient auxotrophic mutants(trp-pro-or arg-ura-). From this results, it suggested that gamma irradiation could be useful method for mutant induction.
