A Study on GUI Design of Online Game Character Customizing (온라인 게임 캐릭터 커스터마이징의 GUI 디자인 분석 연구)

  • Game character customizing has evolved with the desires of users who want to enjoy the scarcity value; thereby, the category which is subjected to character customizing is extending. However, despite such a great interest, character customizing interface has been created for the sake of the convenience of each game developing company, without proven guidelines. The confusion of designers who create interface is caused by using independently created interface without testing the optimal form of interface according to manipulative activity which integrates game character customizing interface, and this confusion leads to the discomfort of users. All the more, studies on character customizing have been mostly concerned with the preference for certain characters according to user propensity or character producing methods. Therefore, basic research into interface relative to character customizing is insufficient. Accordingly, through the development of universal guidelines appropriate for game character customizing interface. the discomfort of users is to be removed. This paper conducted an investigative analysis of the current interface of games which support character customizing, and classified the type of interface. Then, the paper researched 16 types of games that support character customizing out of games ranked within top 50 in the on-line game ranking. As a result of the analysis, the characteristic feature of every game appeared in the offer of detailed optional factors. Those detailed optional factors could be classified, to some extent; however, their manipulative interfaces were discovered not to be classified into different types. The results of this paper will be used as an analytic system in the preparation of the guidelines of game character customizing interface, down the road.

  • Recently, adolescent's lack of exercise due to increasing physical inactivity is emerging as a social problem. Accordingly, we planned a smartphone game to increase the physical activity of adolescents. The application is able to induce the interest of the youth through the interesting factor of 'game'. Also it provides the user with information about the physical activity by measuring the amount of physical activity of the user through GPS. We propose a way to continuously motivate adolescent's physical activity through this motion interaction game application.

  • Developing a network game that is serviced on the internet requires a lot of work, time and manpower. Therefore, it is important to design a game in such a way so that existing design codes could be used. The database for the multi-player network game is accessed from many clients. To manage the resource effectively, it is required to design the APIs to be minimized the database access and to be dealt with the related data efficiently. For this, it is needed to apply the object-oriented design for the related software modules. In the paper, we propose the design patterns of GoF to implement the APIs thatis needed to deal with the database resource. The database design through the analysis of some game's GUI has the advantage to create the optimized schema set more quickly, because it minimize the review step and the modification step of the database design generally. In addition, we apply to the design patterns of GoF for the APIs design of the server-side database. These reduce the times of the program call between the game server and the database server. These also make easily the maintenance for the already developed APIs, and it makes easily the addition of new APIs.

Novel Ubiquitous Concept of Real Reality Robot Game Controlled by Mobile Server Robot

  • In this paper novel concept of real reality robot game controlled by a mobile server robot is proposed. Real reality robot game means that two real robots controlled by two human operator through the internet are playing a boxing game. The mobile server robot captures playing images of the boxing game and send them to GUI on the screen of human operators’ PC. The human operator can login to boxing game from any computer in any place if he/she is permitted. Remote control of boxing robot by a motion capture system through network is implemented. Successful motion control of a boxing robot remotely controlled by a motion capture system through network can be achieved.

  • In this paper, novel ubiquitous concept of real reality robot game controlled by a mobile server robot is proposed. The mobile server robot captures playing images of the boxing game and sends them to GUI on the screen of human operators' PC. The human operator can login to the boxing game from any computer in any place if he/she is permitted. Remote control of a boxing robot by a motion capture system through network is implemented. Successful motion control of a boxing robot remotely controlled by a motion capture system through network can be achieved. In addition, real boxing games between a human and a computer are demonstrated.

A Study on the Development of a Korean Manual Alphabet Learning Game with Avatar (아바타를 내장한 한글 지문자 학습 게임 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we described the development of a Korean Manual Alphabet (KMA) learning game with avatar. KMA letters correspond to the vocabulary of Korean Sign Language (KSL) when spelling a word. Each KMA letter corresponds to a letter of the Korean Alphabet (KA) and KA is represented as hand shapes by sign language user. We developed a KMA learning game for a beginner to learn KMA letters from sign language avatar and practice KMA presentation easily. The system composed of sign language teacher avatar GUI popup window based on OpenGL, KMA letter recognition module, KA letter raining game module and USB camera. A user learns a KMA letter with expressing KA syllabic from avatar and inputs a KMA letter to the system using USB camera. We evaluated the efficiency of the developed system through the verification of users.

  • This paper describes the development of a racing game with three-dimensional computer graphics as one of web-based game contents. Client user using web can access and run java applet program with download of Java Bytecode with the independence of hardware system. It consists of graphic user interface module, initial space generation module, event handler module, and thread control module. It uses 2-D linked list data structure for the 3-D graphic objects that are located in three-dimensional space for high-speed object searching and sorting. It enhances the dynamic object moving and viewing in three-dimensional space. We can use the developed racing game to inform game users of information for an advertisement like tourism information, and can apply the proposed 3-D drawing technology to 3-D game graphic engine core.

  • The existing game development way is adopting a direct engine design way. It was hard to learn game development, but it can learn the process that uses a script an abstraction. And it improves productivity and convenience anger because modeling does not do an engine directly and reduce a development cost and can solve a problem of a development human power security. The representative characteristic of this paper was able to change a development environment into an abstract script language with modeling having done an engine in the existing game development environment directly.

  • 본 논문은 오목의 규칙을 알고리즘으로 구현해 자바 GUI를 통해 2명의 사용자가 대전을 할 수 있도록 오목 게임을 구현한 결과에 대해 서술한다. 오목은 여러 규칙을 가지고 있으며, 본 논문은 이러한 규칙을 알고리즘으로 옮기는 과정에 대하여 서술하고 있다. 삼삼 규칙과 오목의 승리조건을 알고리즘으로 변형하여 게임에 적용하였다. 게임의 흥미를 높이기 위해 2명의 플레이어가 대전할 수 있도록 구현하였다. 추후 이를 바탕으로 AI의 구현 및 난이도 조절을 통해 게임적 흥미를 더 높일 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
