  • This paper concerns with the consistent estimator for the fuzzy expectation of a random variable taking values in the space F($R^p$) of upper semicontinuous convex fuzzy subsets of $R^p$ with compact support. We introduce the concept of a fuzzy sample mean and show that the fuzzy sample mean is a strong consistent estimator for the fuzzy expectation. Some examples are given to illustrate the main result.

  • In this paper, we consider a renewal process in which both the inter-arrival times and rewards are fuzzy random variables. We prove the uniform levelwise convergence of fuzzy renewal and fuzzy renewal rewards. These results improve the result of Popova and Wu[European J. Oper. Research 117(1999), 606-617] and the main result of Hwang [Fuzzy Sets and Systems 116 (2000), 237-244].

  • In this paper, conditional expectation of a fuzzy random variable is introduced and its properties are investigated. Using this, we introduce the concept of fuzzy martingales and prove some convergence theorems which generalize te corresponding results for the classical martingales.

  • To flexibly evaluate performance and reliability of an electric power system in the aspect of the real-time system which is intrinsically characterized by stringent timing constraints fails catastrophically if its control input is not updated by its digital controller computer within a certain time limit called the hard deadline, we propose fuzzy-random variables and build a discrete event model embedded with fuzzy-random variables. Also, we adapt fuzzy-variables to a path-space approach, which derives the upper and lower bounds of reliability by using a semi-Markov model that explicitly contains the deadline information. Consequently, we propose certain formulas of state automata properly transformed by fuzzy-random variables, and present numerical examples applying the formulas as well.

  • The scheduling of real-time tasks needs both correctness and timeliness. But it is not easy to schedule real-time tasks having different characteristics in a single system. In this paper we solve the problem through an approach using the performance evaluation of real-time tasks through fuzzy-random variables. Using the performance evaluation through fuzzy-random variable, we can achieve flexible and efficient scheduling for real-time systems.

  • A sensitivity analysis estimates the effect of the change in the uncertain variable parameter on the probability of the structural failure. A novel fuzzy random reliability sensitivity measure of the failure probability is proposed to consider the effect of the epistemic and aleatory uncertainties. The uncertainties of the engineering variables are modeled as fuzzy random variables. Fuzzy quantities are treated using the ${\lambda}$-cut approach. In fact, the fuzzy variables are transformed into the interval variables using the ${\lambda}$-cut approach. Genetic approach considers different possible combinations within the search domain (${\lambda}$-cut) and calculates the parameter sensitivities for each of the combinations.

  • To flexibly evaluate performance and reliability of a real-time system which is intrinsically characterized by stringent timing constraints to generate correct responses, we propose fuzzyrandom variables and build a discrete event model embedded with fuzzy-random variables. Also, we adapt fuzzy-variables to a path-space approach, which derives the upper and lower bounds of reliability by using a semi-Markov model that explicitly contains the deadline information. Consequently, we propose certain formulas of state automata properly transformed by fuzzy-random variables, and present numerical examples applying the formulas to RTP(Rapid Thermal Process) to show that a complex system can be properly evaluated based on this model by computer simulation.

  • This paper proposes a new fuzzy speed control method based on Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy method of permanent magnet synchronous generators(PMSM) for variable-speed wind turbine systems. The proposed fuzzy speed controller consists of the control terms that compensate for the nonlinearity of PMSG and the control terms that stabilize the error dynamics. The conditions are derived for the existence of the proposed speed controller, and the gain matrices of the controller are given. The proposed control method can guarantee that the PMSG can effectively track the speed reference which is calculated through the MPPT control and can reduce the fluctuations of the generated power under even fast random wind conditions. To verify the performance of the proposed fuzzy speed controller, the simulation results are demonstrated.

  • This paper deals with the properties of the fuzzy least squares estimators for fuzzy linear regression model. Especially fuzzy triangular input-output model including error term is proposed. The error term is considered as a fuzzy random variable. The asymptotic unbiasedness and the consistency of the estimators are proved using a suitable metric.
