  • This paper describes the control of a utility-connected doublefed induction machine (DFIM) for wind power generation systems (WPGS). Real and reactive powers (PQ) at the stator side of DFIM are strictly controlled to supply the power to the grid without any problems. In this paper the control is realized using Fuzzy PI controller based on the stator-flux orientation control.

  • Main goal of web recommendation system is to study how user behavior on a website can be predicted by analyzing web log data which contain the visited web pages. Many researches of the web recommendation system have been studied. To construct web recommendation system, web mining is needed. Especially, web usage analysis of web mining is a tool for recommendation model. In this paper, we propose web recommendation system using grid based support vector machines for improvement of web recommendation system. To verify the performance of our system, we make experiments using the data set from our web server.

  • This paper describes a compensation method for the rotor resistance variation of induction machines in speed sensor-less vector control system using MRAS(model reference adaptive system). In case of rotor resistance variation, the analysis of the conventional speed sensor-less vector control system using MRAS is presented and the compensation method for rotor resistance variation using Fuzzy logic is proposed. In order to confirm the performance of the proposed algorithm, computer simulation is performed.

  • Recently, support vector learning attracts an enormous amount of interest in the areas of function approximation, pattern classification, and novelty detection. One of the main reasons for the success of the support vector machines(SVMs) seems to be the availability of global and sparse solutions. Among the approaches sharing the same reasons for success and exhibiting a similarly good performance, we have KFD(kernel Fisher discriminant) approach. In this paper, we consider the problem of function approximation utilizing both predetermined basis functions and the KFD approach for regression. After reviewing support vector regression, semi-parametric approach for including predetermined basis functions, and the KFD regression, this paper presents an extension of the conventional KFD approach for regression toward the direction that can utilize predetermined basis functions. The applicability of the presented method is illustrated via a regression example.

  • This paper describes a classical algorithm carrying out dynamic 3D obstacle recognition for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), Support Vector Machines (SVMs). SVM is an efficient algorithm that was developed for recognizing 3D object in recent years. A recognition system is designed using Support Vector Machines for applying the capabilities on appearance-based 3D obstacle recognition. All of the test data are taken from OpenGL Simulation. The OpenGL which draws dynamic obstacles environment is used to carry out the experiment for the situation of three-dimension. In order to verify the performance of proposed SVMs, it compares with Back-Propagation algorithm through OpenGL simulation in view of the obstacle recognition accuracy and the time efficiency.

  • In this paper, we propose an indirect vector control method using Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) parameter estimator. It estimates the rotor time constant when the indirect vector control of induction motor is applied. We use the stator current error that is difference between the current command and estimated current calculated from terminal voltage and current. And two induced current estimate equations are used in training ANFIS.The estimator is trained by the hybrid learning algorithm. Simulation results shows good performance under load disturbance and motor parameter variations.

  • This paper deals with the recognition of closed planar shape using a three dimensional spectral feature vector which is derived from the FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) spectrum of contour sequence and fuzzy ARTMAP neural network classifier. Contour sequences obtained from 2-D planar images represent the Euclidean distance between the centroid and all boundary pixels of the shape, and are related to the overall shape of the images. The Fourier transform of contour sequence and spectrum analyzer are used as a means of feature selection and data reduction. The three dimensional spectral feature vectors are extracted by spectrum analyzer from the FFT spectrum. These spectral feature vectors are invariant to shape translation, rotation and scale transformation. The fuzzy ARTMAP neural network which is combined with two fuzzy ART modules is trained and tested with these feature vectors. The experiments including 4 aircrafts and 4 industrial parts recognition process are presented to illustrate the high performance of this proposed method in the recognition problems of noisy shapes.

MRAS Based Speed Estimator for Sensorless Vector Control of a Linear Induction Motor with Improved Adaptation Mechanisms

  • This paper deals with model reference adaptive system (MRAS) speed estimators based on a secondary flux for linear induction motors (LIMs). The operation of these estimators significantly depends on an adaptation mechanism. Fixed-gain PI controller is the most common adaptation mechanism that may fail to estimate the speed correctly in different conditions, such as variation in machine parameters and noisy environment. Two adaptation mechanisms are proposed to improve LIM drive system performance, particularly at very low speed. The first adaptation mechanism is based on fuzzy theory, and the second is obtained from an LIM mechanical model. Compared with a conventional PI controller, the proposed adaptation mechanisms have low sensitivity to both variations of machine parameters and noise. The optimum parameters of adaptation mechanisms are tuned using an offline method through chaotic optimization algorithm (COA) because no design criterion is given to provide these values. The efficiency of MRAS speed estimator is validated by both numerical simulation and real-time hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) implementations. Results indicate that the proposed adaptation mechanisms improve performance of MRAS speed estimator.

Discriminant analysis based on a calibration model (Calibration 모형을 이용한 판별분석)

  • Most of the data sets to which the conventional discriminant rules have been applied contain only those which belong to one and only one class among the classes of interest. However the extension of the bivalence to multivlaence like Fuzzy concepts strongly influence the traditional view that an object must belong to only class. Thus the goal of this paper is to develop new discriminant rules which can handle the data each object of which may belong to moer than two classes with certain degrees of belongings. A calibration model is used for the relationship between the feature vector of an object and the degree of belongings and a Bayesian inference is made with the Metropolis algorithm on the degree of belongings when a feature vector of an object whose membership is unknown is given. An evalution criterion is suggested for the rules developed in this paper and comparision study is carried using two training data sets.

  • This paper presents a new FDI scheme based on dynamic fuzzy model(DFM) for the unknown nonlinear system, which can detect and isolate process faults continuously over all ranges of operating condition. The dynamic behavior of a nonlinear process is represented by a set of local linear models. The parameters of the DFM are identified by an on-line methods. The residual vector of the FDI system is consisted of the parameter deviations from nominal model and the set of grade of membership values indicating the operating condition of the nonlinear process. The detection and isolation of faults are performed via a neural network classifier that are learned the relationship between the residual vector and fault type. We apply the proposed FDI scheme to the FDI system design for a two-tank system and show the usefulness of the proposed scheme.
