In this paper, we consider the expert's ambiguity and the decision maker's fuzzy goals which are incorporated into multiobjective nonlinear programming problems in order to find a compensatory solution. The proposed method can be applied to all cases of multiobjective problems with fuzzy parameters since the interactive process with a decision maker is simple, various uncertainties involved in decision making are eliminated and all the objectives are well balanced. An illustrative numerical example for nonlinear programming problems with fuzzy parameters is demonstrated along with the corresponding computer output.
This paper proposes an indirect adaptive fuzzy controller for general SISO nonlinear systems. No a priori information on bounding constants of uncertainties including reconstruction errors and optimal fuzzy parameters is needed. The control law and the update laws for fuzzy rule structure and estimates of fuzzy parameters and bounding constants are determined so that the Lyapunov stability of the whole closed loop system is guaranteed. The computer simulation results for an inverted pendulum system show the performance of the proposed robust adaptive fuzzy controller.

In this paper, the optimization of fuzzy inference systems is proposed for fuzzy model of nonlinear systems. A fuzzy model needs to be identified and optimized by means of the definite and systematic methods, because a fuzzy model is primarily acquired by expert's experience. The proposed rule-based fuzzy model implements system structure and parameter identification using the HCM(Hard C-mean) clustering method, genetic algorithms and fuzzy inference method. Two types of inference methods of a fuzzy model are the simplified inference and linear inference. in this paper, nonlinear systems are expressed using the identification of structure such as input variables and the division of fuzzy input subspaces, and the identification of parameters of a fuzzy model. To identify premise parameters of fuzzy model, the genetic algorithms is used and the standard least square method with the gaussian elimination method is utilized for the identification of optimum consequence parameters of fuzzy model. Also, the performance index with weighting factor is proposed to achieve a balance between the performance results of fuzzy model produced for the training and testing data set, and it leads to enhance approximation and predictive performance of fuzzy system. Time series data for gas furnace and sewage treatment process are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed model.
A berth assignment problem has a direct impact on assessment of charges made to ships and goods. In this paper, we concerned with of fuzzy mathematical programming models for a berth assignment problem to achieved an efficient berth operation in a fuzzy environment. In this paper, we focus on the berth assignment programming with fuzzy parameters which are based on personal opinions or subjective judgement. From the above point of view, assume that a goal and a constraint are given by fuzzy sets, respectively, which are characterized by membership functions. Let a fuzzy decision be defined as the fuzzy set resulting from the intersection of a goal and constraint. This paper deals with fuzziness in all parameters which are expressed by fuzzy numbers. A fuzzy parameter defined by a fuzzy number means a possibility distribution of the parameters. These fuzzy 0-1 integer programming problems are formulated by fuzzy functions whose concept is also called the extension principle. We deal with a berth assignment problem with triangular fuzzy coefficients and propose a branch and bound algorithm for solving the problem. We suggest three models of berth assignment to minimizing the objective functions such as total port time, total berthing time and maximum berthing time by using a revised Maximum Position Shift(MPS) concept. The berth assignment problem is formulated by min-max and fuzzy 0-1 integer programming. Finally, we gave the numerical solutions of the illustrative examples.

The optimal identification algorithm of fuzzy systems is presented for rule-based fuzzy modeling of
nonlinear complex systems. Nonlinear systems are expressed using the identification of structure such as input
variables and fuzzy input subspaces, and parameters of a fuzzy model. In this paper, the rule-based fuzzy
modeling implements system structure and parameter identification using the fuzzy inference methods and
hybrid structure combined with two types of optimization theories for nonlinear systems. Two types of
inference methods of a fuzzy model are the simplified inference and linear inference. The proposed hybrid
optimal identification algorithm is carried out using both a genetic algorithm and the improved complex
method. Here, a genetic algorithm is utilized for determining initial parameters of membership function of
premise fuzzy rules, and the improved complex method which is a powerful auto-tuning algorithm is carried
out to obtain fine parameters of membership function. Accordingly, in order to optimize fuzzy model, we use
the optimal algorithm with a hybrid type for the identification of premise parameters and standard least square
method for the identification of consequence parameters of a fuzzy model. Also, an aggregate performance
index with weighting factor is proposed to achieve a balance between performance results of fuzzy model
produced for the training and testing data. Two numerical examples are used to evaluate the performance of
the proposed model.

This paper discusses the hull form generation from fuzzy model constructed with actual ship data using fuzzy concept. SAC, which is the most important factor in the hull form generation, is expressed by a fuzzy model describing the relationships among design parameters, which have a great influence on SAC, through model identification process with the actual ship data and design parameters. Then, we can infer the SAC of an aimed ship through the process of fuzzy inference and decide the offset of a front view by making the fuzzy model between SAC and offset as well. In conclusion, this paper makes a step forward from the geometrical definition, which has been used for hull form generation so far, to direct mathematical formulae about the relationship between design parameters and offset. So, if the design parameters are given, we can generate the hull form taking such properties into account.

In the tube hydroforming process, a tube is placed into the die cavity and the ends of the tube are sealed by fixing the axial cylinder piston into the ends. Then the tube is pressurized with a hydraulic fluid and simultaneously the axial cylinders move to feed the material into the expansion zone. Therefore, the quantitative relationship between process parameters such as internal pressure and feeding amount and hydroformabillity, is hard to establish because of their high complexity and many unknown factors. In this study, the empirical and the quantitative relationship between process parameters and hydroformabillity are analyzed by fuzzy rules. Fuzzy expert system is an advanced expert system which uses fuzzy rule and approximate reasoning. Many process parameters are converted to the quantitative relationship by use of approximate reasoning of fuzzy expert system. The comparison between experimentally measured hydroformabillity from hydroforming experiments and the predicted values by fuzzy expert system shows a good agreement.
In this work, a fuzzy neural network is used to estimate the relevant sensor signal using other sensor signals. Noise components in input signals into the fuzzy neural network are removed through the wavelet denoising technique . Principal component analysis (PCA) is used to reduce the dimension of an input space without losing a significant amount of information. A lower dimensional input space will also usually reduce the time necessary to train a fuzzy-neural network. Also, the principal component analysis makes easy the selection of the input signals into the fuzzy neural network. The fuzzy neural network parameters are optimized by two learning methods. A genetic algorithm is used to optimize the antecedent parameters of the fuzzy neural network and a least-squares algorithm is used to solve the consequent parameters. The proposed algorithm was verified through the application to the pressurizer water level and the hot-leg flowrate measurements in pressurized water reactors.

One of the most reliable and simplest tools for structural vibration control in civil engineering is Tuned Mass Damper, TMD. Provided that the frequency and damping parameters of these dampers are tuned appropriately, they can reduce the vibrations of the structure through their generated inertia forces, as they vibrate continuously. To achieve the optimal parameters of TMD, many different methods have been provided so far. In old approaches, some formulas have been offered based on simplifying models and their applied loadings while novel procedures need to model structures completely in order to obtain TMD parameters. In this paper, with regard to the nonlinear decision-making of fuzzy systems and their enough ability to cope with different unreliability, a method is proposed. Furthermore, by taking advantage of both old and new methods a fuzzy system is designed to be operational and reduce uncertainties related to models and applied loads. To design fuzzy system, it is required to gain data on structures and optimum parameters of TMDs corresponding to these structures. This information is obtained through modeling MDOF systems with various numbers of stories subjected to far and near field earthquakes. The design of the fuzzy systems is performed by three methods: look-up table, the data space grid-partitioning, and clustering. After that, rule weights of Mamdani fuzzy system using the look-up table are optimized through genetic algorithm and rule weights of Sugeno fuzzy system designed based on grid-partitioning methods and clustering data are optimized through ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System). By comparing these methods, it is observed that the fuzzy system technique based on data clustering has an efficient function to predict the optimal parameters of TMDs. In this method, average of errors in estimating frequency and damping ratio is close to zero. Also, standard deviation of frequency errors and damping ratio errors decrease by 78% and 4.1% respectively in comparison with the look-up table method. While, this reductions compared to the grid partitioning method are 2.2% and 1.8% respectively. In this research, TMD parameters are estimated for a 15-degree of freedom structure based on designed fuzzy system and are compared to parameters obtained from the genetic algorithm and empirical relations. The progress up to 1.9% and 2% under far-field earthquakes and 0.4% and 2.2% under near-field earthquakes is obtained in decreasing respectively roof maximum displacement and its RMS ratio through fuzzy system method compared to those obtained by empirical relations.

Fuzzy regression, a nonparametric method, can be quite useful in estimating the relationships among variables where the available data are very limited and imprecise. It can also serve as a sound methodology that can be applied to a variety of management and engineering problems where variables are interacting in an uncertain, qualitative, and fuzzy way. A close examination of the fuzzy regression algorithm reveals that the resulting possibility distribution of fuzzy parameters, which makes this technique attractive in a fuzzy environment, is dependent upon an h parameter value. The h value, which is between 0 and 1, is referred to as the degree of fit of the estimated fuzzy linear model to the given data, and is subjectively selected by a decision maker (DM) as an input to the model. The selection of a proper value of h is important in fuzzy regression, because it determines the range of the posibility ditributions of the fuzzy parameters. In this paper, we discuss the interdependent relationship among the h value, membership function shape, and the spreads of fuzzy parameters in fuzzy linear regression with fuzzy input-output using shape-preserving operations.
