New Framework and Mechanisms of Context-Aware Service Composition in the Future Internet

  • The ongoing proliferation of new services, applications, and contents is leading the Internet to an architectural crisis owing to its inability to provide efficient solutions to new requirements. Clean-slate architectures for the future Internet offer a new approach to tackle current and future challenges. This proposal introduces a novel clean-slate architecture in which the TCP/IP protocol stack is decoupled in basic functionalities, that is, atomic services (ASs). A negotiation protocol, which enables context-aware service discovery for providing adapted communications, is also specified. Then, we present how ASs can be discovered and composed according to requesters' requirements. In addition, a media service provisioning use case shows the benefits of our framework. Finally, a proof-of-concept implementation of the framework is described and analyzed. This paper describes the first clean-slate architecture aligned with the work done within the ISO/IEC Future Network working group.

  • In this paper, a new service architecture for IP Telephony, based on the ITU-T standard H.323[1], is proposed. This architecture uses mobile Agents and existing architectural concepts taken from Intelligent Network[IN]. This IP service architecture enables telecom services deployed through mobile service agents on a per user basis, which results in several advantages when compared to centralized service architecture. The paper demonstrates that the flexible and extensible architecture can accommodate a wide variety of future services.

  • 최근 들어 미래인터넷에 대한 관심과 연구가 활발히 진행 중에 있다. 국내에서도 미래인터넷 연구의 한 분야로서 이동성 및 무선 환경 위주의 네트워크 환경으로의 변화에 초점을 맞춘 미래인터넷 아키텍처로 MOFI 가 제안되었다. MOFI 는 Mobile Oriented Future Internet 의 약자로 name 기반의 통신을 제공하며 라우팅 scalability 가 보장되고 이동성이 제공되는 데이터 전달 구조이다. 본 논문에서는 MOFI 구조 연구의 일부분으로 HID 기반 통신을 지원하는 기본 MOFI 테스트베드를 구축하고, 기본적인 인터넷 서비스 (PING, WWW)의 실험을 통해 HID 기반의 통신 가능성을 검증하였다. 테스트베드를 구축함에 있어 VirtualBox 라는 가상 머신을 사용하였고, 또한 Click Modular Router를 사용하여 패킷 처리 및 HCP 헤더의 추가 및 변환을 구현하였다.

Blockchain for the Trustworthy Decentralized Web Architecture

  • The Internet was created as a decentralized and autonomous system of interconnected computer networks used for data exchange across mutually trusted participants. The element technologies on the Internet, such as inter-domain and intra-domain routing and DNS, operated in a distributed manner. With the development of the Web, the Web has become indispensable in daily life. The existing web applications allow us to form online communities, generate private information, access big data, shop online, pay bills, post photos or videos, and even order groceries. This is what has led to centralization of the Web. This centralization is now controlled by the giant social media platforms that provide it as a service, but the original Internet was not like this. These giant companies realized that the decentralized network's huge value involves gathering, organizing, and monetizing information through centralized web applications. The centralized Web applications have heralded some major issues, which will likely worsen shortly. This study focuses on these problems and investigates blockchain's potentials for decentralized web architecture capable of improving conventional web services' critical features, including autonomous, robust, and secure decentralized processing and traceable trustworthiness in tamper-proof transactions. Finally, we review the decentralized web architecture that circumvents the main Internet gatekeepers and controls our data back from the giant social media companies.

HiMang: Highly Manageable Network and Service Architecture for New Generation

  • The Internet is a very successful modern technology and is considered to be one of the most important means of communication. Despite that success, fundamental architectural and business limitations exist in the Internet's design. Among these limitations, we focus on a specific issue, the lack of manageability, in this paper. Although it is generally understood that management is a significant and important part of network and service design, it has not been considered as an integral part in their design phase. We address this problem with our future Internet management architecture called highly manageable network and service architecture for new generation (HiMang), which is a novel architecture that aims at integrating management capabilities into network and service design. HiMang is highly manageable in the sense that it is autonomous, scalable, robust, and evolutionary while reducing the complexity of network management. Unlike any other management framework, HiMang provides management support for the revolutionary networks of the future while maintaining backward compatibility for existing networks.

  • 미래인터넷은 현 인터넷 구조의 한계를 극복하여 미래의 새로운 요구사항을 수용하기 위해 Clean-slate에 기반을 둔 설계와 개발이 국내 외에서 활발히 이행되고 있다. 미래인터넷 관련 연구개발은 이미 미국, 유럽 등의 선진국에서 정부의 대규모 투자와 지원이 이루어져 미래인터넷 연구 프로그램이 추진되어 진행되고 있다. 미래인터넷의 세부 기술의 특성을 기준으로 인프라 기술, 아키텍처, 그리고 서비스 기술 분야로 구분된다. 우리나라는 특히, 인프라기술과 서비스 기술은 우위에 있는 분야이다. 이러한 기반 서비스를 미래 인터넷에 접목하기 위한 신뢰통신에 대한 연구 및 기술 개발은 경쟁력을 가질 수 있는 분야이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 미래인터넷을 위한 신뢰통신 참조모델 검증 기술 연구를 위해 미국 NSF 4개 과제에서 보안 기술 분석과 각 구조에서 보안 기능 분석에 대하여 설명한다.

  • In the field of environmental landscape architecture, the internet medium is used as an effective communication tool not only in the private level but also in the policy level. Recently, the active utilization of mobile web service is emphasized as the time changes, but there is not much improvement or advance in services due to lack of relevant studies. Therefore, this study is intended to provide basic data needed for improvement and advance by researching the quality of mobile web service among multichannel services provided in environmental landscape architecture related internet media. The model for measuring service quality is SERVQUAL, which was verified in the study of Choi(2015), Choi and Koo(2016), and the final valid samples are total 230. First, the subjects were analyzed as the representative media that are possible to acquire comprehensive knowledge related to environmental landscape architecture. Second, the highest importance level in each subsection was 'protection and security maintenance of customer information' followed by 'Reliability about accurate information supply'. Regarding performance level, 'Reliability about accurate information supply' and 'professional knowledge to communicate with users' are highly evaluated. Third, regarding Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA), the first priority management should is 'Tangibles', and the next are 'Responsibility' and 'Empathy'. The ones for maintenance of the status quo are 'Reliability' and 'Assurance', and there is none for effort reduction. Meanwhile, regarding the importance of each factor and difference in the quality of PC web service and mobile web service studied before, the biggest difference is in 'Tangibles', followed by 'Assurance', 'Empathy', 'Responsibility' and 'Reliability'. It is suggested that the revitalization of Landscape information science(LB1106) presented in the National Science&Technology Standard Classification System is needed. In the future, it is necessary to research the change trend on users' response through continuous evaluation of improved mobile web service.

Global Manager - A Service Broker In An Integrated Cloud Computing, Edge Computing & IoT Environment

  • The emergence of technologies like Big data analytics, Industrial Internet of Things, Internet of Things, and applicability of these technologies in various domains leads to increased demand in the underlying execution environment. The demand may be for compute, storage, and network resources. These demands cannot be effectively catered by the conventional cloud environment, which requires an integrated environment. The task of finding an appropriate service provider is tedious for a service consumer as the number of service providers drastically increases and the services provided are heterogeneous in the specification. A service broker is essential to find the service provider for varying service consumer requests. Also, the service broker should be smart enough to make the service providers best fit for consumer requests, ensuring that both service consumer and provider are mutually beneficial. A service broker in an integrated environment named Global Manager is proposed in the paper, which can find an appropriate service provider for every varying service consumer request. The proposed Global Manager is capable of identification of parameters for service negotiation with the service providers thereby making the providers the best fit to the maximum possible extent for every consumer request. The paper describes the architecture of the proposed Global Manager, workflow through the proposed algorithms followed by the pilot implementation with sample datasets retrieved from literature and synthetic data. The experimental results are presented with a few of the future work to be carried out to make the Manager more sustainable and serviceable.

Delay Performance of Multi-Service Network with Strict Priority Scheduling Scheme

  • Strict priority scheduling scheme is a good candidate for the implementation of service differentiation in an Internet because of simplicity in implementation and the capability to guarantee the delay requirement of the highest class of traffic. However, it is also blown that strict priority starves the lower-class traffic at the cost of prioritizing the higher-class traffic. The purpose of this work is to propose an analytic method which can estimate the average delay performance of Diffserv service architecture and shows that strict priority scheme does not sacrifice the lower class traffic over a diverse condition of the load. From the numerical experiments for three-class Diffserv network we validate our argument that strict priority scheme may be applied to a service differentiation scheme for the future Internet.

CCN 실시간 서비스에서 중간노드의 이동성 지원 (Supporting Intermediate-node Mobility in CCN Real-time Service)

  • Recently, due to the rapid development of the internet, the production and demand of high capacity contents are rapidly increasing. In order to accommodate the changing trend of internet usage, researches on CCN, the future internet architecture, are actively being conducted. Mobility support is an important challenge in CCN real-time services, given that today's internet environment is changing to mobile and real-time services are increasing. In CCN real-time services, the mobility problem can be largely divided into consumer mobility, provider mobility, and intermediate-node mobility. Among them, when the intermediate-node moves in the CCN real-time services, the service disconnection occurs and the QoS degradation is caused. In this paper. we propose Intermediate-Node Mobility Support(INMS) to support the intermediate-node mobility in CCN real-time services. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme shows better performance than CCN in terms of service disconnection time and packet loss.
