2D Face Image Recognition and Authentication Based on Data Fusion (데이터 퓨전을 이용한 얼굴영상 인식 및 인증에 관한 연구)

  • Because face Images have many variations(expression, illumination, orientation of face, etc), there has been no popular method which has high recognition rate. To solve this difficulty, data fusion that fuses various information has been studied. But previous research for data fusion fused additional biological informationUingerplint, voice, del with face image. In this paper, cooperative results from several face image recognition modules are fused without using additional biological information. To fuse results from individual face image recognition modules, we use re-defined mass function based on Dempster-Shafer s fusion theory.Experimental results from fusing several face recognition modules are presented, to show that proposed fusion model has better performance than single face recognition module without using additional biological information.

A Study on the Characteristics of Fashion Paradigm According to Changing Convergence Culture (융합화 문화변화에 따른 패션 패러다임 특성 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to delve into the features of paradigm in conjunction with changing convergence culture in the 21st century's knowledge-based society, the influence of convergence paradigm on fashion, and changes in convergence culture. After identifying the features of the paradigm of knowledge-based society in association with changing convergence culture, the characteristics of fashion paradigm were examined in con=junction with the characteristics of the paradigm, and the convergence phenomena of modern fashion were investigated to figure out fashion trends. The findings of the study were as follows: According to the features of ubiquitous technology based on the theories of Mark Weiser and other futurologists, the characteristics of changing convergence culture in knowledge-based society could be classified into invisibility, relationship and materialized virtuality. When relevant theories were reviewed, invisibility, relationship and materialized virtuality are identified as the unique features of the paradigm of changing convergence culture in knowledge-based society. But those characteristics aren't separate concepts. Instead, they are being connected and fused together, thanks to universalized digital technology and ubiquitous technology. Changing convergence culture has brought a change to fashion paradigm as well. There is a type of design that lets all the characteristics stand out, and another design fuses just some of them together conceptually or formally. That is, fashion paradigm is marked by a combination of invisibility, relationship and an embodiment of virtual reality to be in line with changes in convergence culture.

  • Generally circuit devices of low voltage are as follows, ICCB, PCB and MCCB. Among them, MCCB is typically used because it has superior characteristics which fuses do not possess, such as safety, controllability and ability to collaborate with other devices. The MCCB plays vital role, it has to trip instantaneously when the fault is occurred as well as it must have high insulation capacity. Therefore in order to enhance the breaking capacity, the study of contact construction, contact tip and link are necessary. This paper shows dynamic modeling of mechanism part of MCCB using an exclusive analysis program, and embodies the research of improvement of mechanism performance.

A Study of the Improvement of Thermal Performance of a Junction Box of a Passenger Car (자동차 정션박스의 열성능 개선을 위한 연구)

  • Thermal management of a junction box of a passenger car has recently become more challenging due to its smaller size and larger current capacity. Thus, it is essential to perform the thermal optimization of a junction box in its design on an early stage of vehicle design. In this study, 3 dimensional CFD simulation with experimental measurement has been done to study for better thermal management of the junction box. First, the study of thermal characteristics of electric relays in the junction box has revealed that each surface of the relay has very different thermal resistance. In addition, an idea to install a cooling fan on the junction box has been studied and it was found that the forced cooling method was not effective on the system to keep the thermal resistance to the reasonable level of the junction box. Finally, the effect of external flows around the junction box on the temperatures of the relays, fuses, etc. has been studied and the result shows that the installation of the junction box at the proper place in an engine room can avoid any unnecessary overdesign in thermal management.

  • Car navigation system which is killer application fuses map management techniques into CPS techniques. Even if the existing navigation systems are designed for the shortest path, they are not able to cope efficiently with the change of the traffic flow and the bottleneck point of road. Therefore, it is necessary to find out shortest path algorithm based on time instead of distance which takes traffic information into consideration. In this paper, we propose a optimal path search algorithm based on the traffic information. More precisely. we introduce the system architecture for finding out optimal paths, and the limitations of the existing shortest path search algorithm are also analyzed. And then, we propose a new algorithm for finding out optimal path to make good use of the orientation of the collected traffic information.

  • This paper is about vision system that exhibits automatic examination of the conditions of fuses and relay boxes using a camera. Proposed vision system is composed of three parts: image acquisition, vision algorithm, and user interface. The image acquisition part is composed of illumination and optics. The vision algorithmis the examining part, using the grabbed fuse box image. Lastly, user interface is divided into two parts, user interface for registering features of fuse box and user interface for examination operation.

  • In recent years, The electronic and energy industries demand low power consumption and high efficiency, so under their demands, the white goods industries which are represented for refrigerator and air conditioner system be implemented energy-saving power suppling structure with inverter control system. As inverter control system is different from step control type, when switching system is optimizing temperature control during short period, the inrush plus current can be flown in the circuit. In despite of these characteristics, there is no fuse which can be applied to this type until now. For this reason, we suggest the method of manufacturing protector in the high efficient inverter control system using the alumina-based ceramic radiated heat characteristics and metal films laminated plating. And through the evaluating electrical characteristics, we make a possible to utilize the method when designing overall fuses.

  • During an AC motor's start-up accelerating period, a large amount of current is required to reach to the rating speed. This is called in-rush current. This peak in-rush current can be more than about several times the operating or steady-state current in the full load rating of the motor. In-rush current is present in both and electronic ballasts. The main area of concern is the tripping of circuit breaker and fuses which can affect electrical system components From this, we can see that the electrical power controllers will be rather concerned, since they have to supply the actual current necessary to start the motor. This paper presents a new method to reducing in-rush current and energy saving of the single-phase induction motor used in air-conditioner. It can be obtained that proposed system is low cost and small size as compared with other controller. Experiments are focused on a capacitor starting single-phase induction motor. The optimal power saving and in-rush current limiting by phase angle control are verified by experimental results. Also, auxiliary winding was controlled by electronic starting switch.

  • In this work, thermal phenomena and temperature rise due to thermal source in electric switchboard were investigated using analytical measures. Electric switchboards are assemblies of panels on which are mounted switches, circuit breakers, high current busbars, meter, fuses and terminals essential to the operation of electric equipment. It is very difficult to predict the temperature rise in switchboard due to the existence of several heat sources. To overcome this situations, we focused on the eddy current distribution on the panel of switchboard caused by high current busbars as a fundamental basis. And thermal sources including busbar and switchgear have been considered. Furthermore, thermal transfer phenomena in switchboard was considered theoretically. Finally, three-dimensional thermal model for eddy current analysis has been adopted and FEM analysis was conducted. As a result, three-dimensional numerical analysis found to be applicable to the analysis of thermal phenomena in switchboard.

A Development of the Autonomous Driving System based on a Precise Digital Map (정밀 지도에 기반한 자율 주행 시스템 개발)

  • An autonomous driving system based on a precise digital map is developed. The system is implemented to the Hyundai's Tucsan fuel cell car, which has a camera, smart cruise control (SCC) and Blind spot detection (BSD) radars, 4-Layer LiDARs, and a standard GPS module. The precise digital map has various information such as lanes, speed bumps, crosswalks and land marks, etc. They can be distinguished as lane-level. The system fuses sensed data around the vehicle for localization and estimates the vehicle's location in the precise map. Objects around the vehicle are detected by the sensor fusion system. Collision threat assessment is performed by detecting dangerous vehicles on the precise map. When an obstacle is on the driving path, the system estimates time to collision and slow down the speed. The vehicle has driven autonomously in the Hyundai-Kia Namyang Research Center.
