  • Maglev equipped with permanent magnets on the moving part can be levitated by the magnetic repulsion between Halbach array and conducting plate when this vehicle is running.   • Major noise source in high speed rotating CD-Rom drives arises due to the high-speed airflow produced from the upper and lower surfaces on the rotating disk. The present paper deals with the experimental approach how to identify the noise source based on the fundamental principles of aeroacoustics and to propose a reduction method of the noise source. Experimental studies were carried out in the anechoic wind tunnel with various design modifications, such as tray geometry and window size, to identify and reduce the major aerodynamic noise source and significant reductions of the noise source were obtained.

  • Diagnostic method by taking pulse is generally accepted as a clinical diagnosis of today. Theoretical foundation of the method was laid by "Hwangjenaegyeong" and "Nangyeong". Since then, it was quoted by "Sanghallon" and systematically applied to diagnoses by making a diagnosis in the light of pulse condition and symptoms observed so that the original form of the method was shaped thereby. And therefore, theoretical significance of diagnostic method by taking pulse was drawn in this paper to define the theory of pulse feeling. Furthermore, this paper is corroborative of that the purpose of diagnostic method by taking pulse is to diagnose pyo-lee and jang-bu; wind-cold-warmth-heat; and deficiency and excess of gi and blood as well as substantially prove it with the texts of "Sanghallon".

The Influence of Variable Thermophysical Properties for Filmwise Condensation of Superheated Vapor on a Vertical Wall (수직 벽에서 과열증기의 막응축에 대한 열물성의 영향)

  • A theoretical model for laminar filmwise condensation along an isothermal vertical wall at constant pressure has been formulated on the basis of conservation laws and other fundamental physical principles. The model was applied to the prediction of the influences of variable thermophysical properties of liquid and vapor layers in the filmwise condensation of superheated vapor of Rl2, R134a, R142b and R152a. The dimensionless velocity component method was employed in the transformation of the governing equations and their boundary conditions, and the polynomial method was used for treating variable thermophysical properties of liquid and vapor. Physical quantities, such as the dimensionless thickness of the liquid layer, local heat transfer rate and mean heat transfer coefficient, were investigated for different values of the superheated temperature of the stagnant vapor far from the wall. It was found that the value of mean heat transfer coefficient of R134a was higher than other refrigerants for the change of the superheated temperature.

A Study on the Understanding and Instructional Methods of Arithmetic Rules for Elementary School Students (초등학생의 연산법칙 이해 수준과 학습 방안 연구)

  • Recently, there are studies the argument that arithmetic rules established by the four fundamental arithmetic operations, in other words, commutative laws, associative laws, distributive laws, should be explicitly described in mathematics textbooks and the curriculum. These rules are currently implicitly presented or omitted from textbooks, but they contain important principles that foster mathematical thinking. This study aims to evaluate the current level of understanding of these computation rules and provide implications for the curriculum and textbook writing. To this end, the correct answer ratio of the five arithmetic rules for 1-4 grades 398 in five elementary schools was investigated and the type of error was analyzed and presented, and the subject to learn these rules and the points to be noted in teaching and learning were also presented. These results will help to clarify the achievement criteria and learning contents of the calculation rules, which were implicitly presented in existing national textbooks, in a new 2022 revised curriculum.

  • Currently, Korean real estate market has experienced cooling down of the business because of the global economic crisis which resulted from the subprime mortgage lending practice. In response, the Korean government has enforced various policies at the base of deregulating real estate speculation, such as increasing Loan to value ratio (LTV) in order to stimulate housing demand and supply. However, these policies seemed to result in deep confusion in the Korean housing market. Furthermore, analysis for housing market forecasting, especially international financial crisis on Korean real estate market, has been partial and fragmentary, therefore comprehensive solution and systematical approach is required to analyze the real estate and real estate financial market including causal nexus between market determining factors. In an integrated point of view, applying the system dynamics modeling, the paper aims at proposing Korean Real Estate and Mortgage market dynamics models based on fundamental principles of housing market determined by supply and demand. We also find the impact of deregulation policies focusing on mortgage loan which is the main factors of policies.

  • The conflict problems encountered in the construction projects led to prolonged delays in implementation, interruptions and sometimes suspension. This paper has described ten fundamental management principles to avoid conflicts in construction field and increase the productivity. They are: i) hire good (not cheap) construction professionals ii) set reasonable time and cost goals iii) recognize contractors and designers are in business to make profit iv) draft a clear contract document v) pick a suitable project delivery system vi) implement a front-end approach vii) accept construction project as a dynamic process viii) need of education and training of professionals ix) accountability and teamwork in construction site, and x) avoid negligence.

An Instructional Method for Mobile Technology-Enhanced Collaborative Problem Solving in a Complex Engineering Course

  • The purpose of the article is to address a new instructional approach to a complex engineering course. We design a novel instructional method that combines mobile technology, simulation program, collaborative teamwork, problem-solving process, and a variety of evaluation techniques. We suggested five instructional principles that might be required to change the fundamental educational process by which learning is done. The proposed instructional method is expected to aspire for new perspectives on complex learning environment. Nevertheless we solely began by the research on the development of students' complex problem-solving performance in a complex engineering course, the new instructional method in the article can promote the adoption of new instructional methods and strategies across different knowledge domains. In addition, the instructional method can provide a valuable bridge to acquisition and transfer of problem solving, motivation, and meaning learning.

EPIDEMIC SEIQRV MATHEMATICAL MODEL AND STABILITY ANALYSIS OF COVID-19 TRANSMISSION DYNAMICS OF CORONAVIRUS

  • In this study, we propose a dynamic SEIQRV mathematical model and examine it to comprehend the dynamics of COVID-19 pandemic transmission in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. Positiveness and boundedness, which are the fundamental principles of this model, have been examined and found to be reliable. The reproduction number was calculated in order to predict whether the disease would spread further. Existing arrangements of infection-free, steady states are asymptotically stable both locally and globally when R0 < 1. The consistent state arrangements that are present in diseases are also locally steady when R0 < 1 and globally steady when R0 > 1. Finally, the numerical data confirms our theoretical study.

  • This paper offers an overview of matrix formation and calculation techniques within the framework of General Linear Models (GLMs). It takes a sequential approach, beginning with a detailed exploration of matrix formation and calculation methods in regression analysis and univariate analysis of variance (ANOVA). Subsequently, it extends the discussion to cover multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA). The primary objective of this study was to provide a clear and accessible explanation of the underlying matrices that play a crucial role in GLMs. Through linking, essentially different statistical methods, by fundamental principles and algebraic foundations that underpin the GLM estimation. Insights presented here aim to assist researchers, statisticians, and data analysts in enhancing their understanding of GLMs and their practical implementation in diverse research domains. This paper contributes to a better comprehension of the matrix-based techniques that can be extended to GLMs.
