  • The present study deals with an approximate integral equation approach to finite deflection of elastic plates with arbitrary plane form. An integral formulation leads to a system of boundary integral equations involving values of deflection, slope, bending moment and transverse shear force along the edge. The basic principles of the development of boundary element technique are reviewed. A computer program for solving for stresses and deflections in a isotropic, homogeneous, linear and elastic bending plate is developed. The fundamental solution of deflection and moment is employed in this program. The deflections and moments are assumed constant within the quadrilateral element. Numerical solutions for sample problems, obtained by the direct boundary element method, are presented and results are compared with known solutions.

  • Since the mid-1990s, the corporate social responsibility(adhere CSR) has risen as an important issue in Korean company. We have classified 3 effects of CSR activities on corporate performance. That is, this study investigates the relationship between CSR and corporate performance, which are financial performance, marketing performance, human resource and organization performance. Previous literatures discuss how CSR activities influence on corporate performance. But they have not reached at a clear conclusion and the issue is still debate. The relationship between CSR and corporate performance is actually more complicated, so this study is to review literature of various perspective. In this study, CSR management tool proposed for effective and efficiency CSR management by literature review. A right measure is fundamental factor for effective and efficiency CSR management. This study provide fundamental tip for CSR measure using of principles of ISO 26000.

  • Controlling fluid flows in micro scales is a non-trivial issue among those who are involved in designing lab-on-chips. Pumping and mixing by using electrokinetic principles has been popular in that the method requires a few parts and it is easy to control. This paper explains the basic mechanism of the electroosmotic flows caused by AC together with presenting some numerical results. In particular, the fundamental, physical idea involved in the mechanism will be illustrated in terms of the kinematic aspect. Since the electroosmotic flows are mainly driven by the motion of ions, we also demonstrate the ion motions by using the numerical-visualization method.

  • The accurate assessment of the performance of nonuniform systems requires a thorough understanding of stability analysis. As a result, the theoretical modeling of the influence of various variables on the performance of small-scale nonuniform structures with conventional and non-conventional geometries is presented in this paper. According to the fundamental computer simulation based on mathematical and mechanical principles, the stability of the nonuniform structures is examined. Thus, a numerical procedure is used to simulate the stability and instability characteristics of the nonuniform small-scale structures via computer aid. Theoretic simulation methods provide a great deal of the design and production of small-scale structures at a low cost compared to experimental simulations. Thus, this paper provides a good presentation of the stability analysis of the nonuniform nanoscale structures with high accuracy without actual experimental.

  • The elegant early experiments of Herschel demonstrated that there is light after the visible spectrum in a region we call the near infrared (NIR). This was followed by the work which showed that the spectrum went further into what we call the mid infrared (MIR). The MIR has been used for many years as a qualitative and quantitative region to measure constituent values. The MIR region contains the fundamental vibrations which can be theoretically calculated from symmetry rules and harmonic oscillator equations. The NIR is not as straight forward because the region from 400-2500 nm does not contain any of the fundamental vibrations only combination bands and overtones. Over the past fifty years efforts to understand the NIR have largely been ignored while the quantitative aspects of the region have been utilized. This presentation will focus on the efforts to define terms for NIR, examine the calculation of combination bands and overtones and ways to interpret the spectra. The interpretation of the NIR has been aided greatly in recent years by the use of two dimensional spectroscopy which allows the correlation of bands in one spectral region with that of the NIR.

  • This paper addresses the problem of protecting security policies in security mechanisms, such as the detection policy of an Intrusion Detection System. Unauthorized disclosure of such information might reveal the fundamental principles and methods for the protection of the whole network. In order to avoid this risk, we suggest two schemes for protecting security policies in Snort using the symmetric cryptosystem, Triple-DES.

  • This paper discusses a triple stage current source GTO inverter system for high power motor drives. The energy rebound circuit of the triple stage inverter not only controls the spike voltage of the GTO inverter but also facilitates PWM control of the thyristor rectifier operated at unity fundamental input power factor. Based on Pspice simulation and experiments, the principles and PWM pulse pattern for removing specific lower harmonics in the inverter's output current are discussed in detail.

  • In this paper, we propose a new technique of estimating tail of steady-state queue length distribution; Pr(Q>q), fo ATM multiplexer. Pr(Q>q) is a fundamental measure of network congestion. Assessing Pr(Q>q) properly is crucial for design and control of ATM networks. Data traffic pattern of high-speed networks is highly correlated and bursty. Estimating Pr(Q>q) is very difficult because of correlation and burstiness. We estimate entropy(rate-function) using large deviation principles and threshold bootstrap. Simulation studies are conducted to compare the performance of an existing method and our new method.

  • A basic study on the batch type freeze dryer has been carried out. The operating principles, merits and demerits of the freeze dryer were described. And the kinds of major components and their roles were also invesigated. As a fundamental study, using the Differential Scanning Calorimeter(DSC), the determination of unfrozen water in the specimens and invesigation of effects of cooling rate on the freeze drying were performed. To provide a guidline of basic design for a freeze dryer, a parametric study about the drying conditions was carried out.
