  • Currently memorandum have been a method to manage information easily by short writing. In particular, a electronic memorandum system has been efficiently used for business purpose, which is available in a computer widely used in our daily life. Considering the smart business environment, we propose a multi-functional electronic memorandum system in this paper, which is helpful to manage information intelligently in the smart business environment. The proposed system maintains the contents of memorandum in a database structure, so it is available without any restrictions in time and place. In addition, it also has additional functions of music playing, capturing working screens, and scheduling. The functions help for the proposed system to be widely used in the smart business environment.

  • Classification method used in this paper is applied for the first time to Korean traditional music. Among the frequency distribution vectors, average peak value is suggested and proved effective comparing to previous classification success rate. Mean, variance, spectral centroid, average peak value and ZCR are used to classify Korean traditional musical instruments. To achieve Korean traditional instruments automatic classification, Spectral analysis is used. For the spectral domain, Various functions are introduced to extract features from the data files. k-NN classification algorithm is applied to experiments. Taegum, gayagum and violin are classified in accuracy of 94.44% which is higher than previous success rate 87%.

  • In this paper, efficient functions for audio spectrum mapping with visible spectrum are proposed. Through mapping overall hearing frequency band with visible frequency band, emotional lighting might be possible. We propose a basic linear mapping function and non-linear mapping functions emphasizing specific audio frequency bands. For the algorithm implementation, spectrum analysis method and filter method are introduced. Especially, in this paper, a prototype LED lighting equipment using the digital filter method is implemented. The proposed lighting method can be applied to many LED lighting area using music.

  • The theme of this study is holistic healing environment of children's library and it was researched on the basis of anthroposophy theory of Rudolf Steiner. According to Steiner's theory, human being consists of body, spirit, and soul. Especially, children are sensitive ones, and through synthetic function of 12 kinds of senses, they can be holistically healed (healing of body, spirit, and soul). As the sense independently functions or it is a element that cannot be described, it needs spatial plan to support synthetic function of it. We classified the healing space's meaning of children library by motion (including art and music), reading, & landscape healing activities and analyzed spatial characteristic to support each activity.

  • In this paper, we propose the non-contact gesture recognition system and algorithm using proximity-based sensors. The system uses four IR receiving photodiode embedded on a single chip and an IR LED for small area. The goal of this paper is to use the proposed algorithm to solve the problem associated with bringing the four IR receivers close to each other and to implement a gesture sensor capable of recognizing eight directional gestures from a distance of 10cm and above. The proposed system was implemented on a FPGA board using Verilog HDL with Android host board. As a result of the implementation, a 2-D swipe gesture of fingers and palms of 3cm and 15cm width was recognized, and a recognition rate of more than 97% was achieved under various conditions. The proposed system is a low-power and non-contact HMI system that recognizes a simple but accurate motion. It can be used as an auxiliary interface to use simple functions such as calls, music, and games for portable devices using batteries.

  • Although most of the people have studied English for a long time, their English conversation capability is low. When we provide them portable conversational-type English learners by the application of computer and information process technology, such portable learners can be used to enhance their English conversation capability by their conventional conversation exercises. The core technology to develop such learner is the development of a voice recognition and synthesis module under an embedded environment. This paper deals with voice recognition and synthesis, prototype of the learner module using a DSP(Digital Signal Processing) chip for voice processing, voice playback function, flash memory file system, PC download function using USB ports, English conversation text function by the use of SMC(Smart Media Card) flash memory, LCD display function, MP3 music listening function, etc. Application areas of the prototype equipped with such various functions are vast, i.e. portable language learners, amusement devices, kids toy, control by voice, security by the use of voice, etc.

  • Smart home in the 4th industrial revolution environment is where all devices in the home are connected to each other to provide the optimal living environment desired by the user. Artificial intelligence speakers are being used as a way to manage and control all devices used in this environment. The function of an artificial intelligence speaker ranges from simple music playback to serving as an interface that controls and manages all devices in a smart home space. In this study, we investigated and analyzed the usability of artificial intelligence speakers based on the current status of domestic and overseas markets and the survey contents of two organizations (Korea Consumer Agency and Korea Information and Communication Policy Institute (KISDI)). In addition, we investigated and analyzed the usability of artificial intelligence speakers. Based on the results of responses from users from two related organizations, major problems were derived, and major improvement measures, such as discovering new functions and improving voice recognition performance, were also described.

  • Harmony search algorithm is an emerging meta-heuristic optimization algorithm, which is inspired by the music improvisation process and can solve different optimization problems. In order to further improve the performance of the algorithm, this paper proposes an improved harmony search algorithm. Key parameters including harmonic memory consideration (HMCR), pitch adjustment rate (PAR), and bandwidth (BW) are optimized as the number of iterations increases. Meanwhile, referring to the genetic algorithm, an improved method to generate a new crossover solutions rather than the traditional mechanism of improvisation. Four complex function optimization and pressure vessel optimization problems were simulated using the optimization algorithm of standard harmony search algorithm, improved harmony search algorithm and exploratory harmony search algorithm. The simulation results show that the algorithm improves the ability to find global search and evolutionary speed. Optimization effect simulation results are satisfactory.

  • This paper addresses major issues in localising sound sources in space using the experimental data set of head-related responses in the time or frequency domain. They come from the technical realisation steps for implementing the convolution of HRIR's with sound sources, the cross-talk cancellation for transaural filtering, the matched time delay compensation, etc. in real, those technical matters seem to be minor because they can be realised in off-line signal processing schemes. This paper puts much emphasis on what we misunderstood about the sets of HRTF's or HRIR's, More specifcaily, the sets of HRTF's or HRIR's of course supply relevant information to sound localisation but include much useless 'rubbish' that have made for us to fail to put spatial image into real souno signals such as voices and music's. This paper proposes possible reasons for such failure and, furthermore, introduces detained subjects that should be challenged so as to resolve them.

  • For the remarkable enhancement of high-speed rail passenger services, a system which provides various multimedia contents and Internet search functions was designed. The system gets inputs from a passenger and displays various multimedia contents on the touch sensitive LCD panel attached on a passenger seat. This kind of service is new in Korea and not easy to find in other countries, either. In this paper, we presented a design of a system which provides not only one-way broadcasting services but also searching capability of various information interactively. Informations to be provided are train schedule, transfer information, tour information, E-books, movies, music, ets. Successful completion of the system development in the following years is expected to strengthen international competitiveness of Korean railway industry.
