Functionally graded polyurethane elastomers PUEs/grad. Poly(dimethylammoninum ethylacrylate bromide)(PDMAEA) were prepared by the method of electrophoresis. Results of elemental analysis showed that concentration of PDMAEA had gradient across the thickness(2mm) of the base PUEs. The modified PUEs(PUEs/grad. PDMAEA) containing high concentration of PDMAEA displayed low degree of swelling in benzene which was poor solvent for PDMAEA, and high degree of swelling in water which was good solvent. For the each layer of modified PUEs, glass transition temperature, dynamic storage modulus were stooled by DSC, Rheovibron DDV-IIC dynamic viscoelastomer. The chemomechanical properties of modified PUEs was explored by the electric-stimulus.
Dynamic stress intensity factors (DSIFs) are obtained when a crack propagates with constant velocity in rectangular functionally gradient materials (FGMs) under dynamic mode III load. To obtain the dynamic stress intensity factors, it is used the general stress and displacement fields of FGMs for propagating crack and the boundary collocation method (BCM). The stress intensity factors and energy release rates are the greatest in the increasing properties $(\xi>0)$, next constant properties $(\x=0)$ and decreasing properties $(\xi<0)$ under constant crack tip properties and crack tip speed.

This paper is dedicated to the thermoelastic modeling and dynamic response of the rotating blades made of functionally graded ceramic-metal based materials. The blades are modeled as non-uniform thin walled beams fixed at the hub with various selected values of setting angles and pre-twisted angles. In this study, the blade is rotating with a constant angular velocity and exposed to a steady temperature field as well as external excitation. Moreover, the effect of the temperature gradient through the blade thickness is considered. Material properties are graded in the thickness direction of the blade according to the volume fraction power law distribution. The numerical results highlight the effects of the volume fraction, temperature gradient, taper ratio, setting angle and pre-twisted angle on the dynamic response of bending-bending coupled beam characteristics and pertinent conclusions are outlined.
The static analysis of spinning functionally graded (FG) nanotube on the basis of the nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT) is presented. The high-order beam theory is employed for mathematical modeling of the tube structures according to the Sinusoidal shear deformation beam theory. The energy conservation principle is operated to generate the equations. The centrifugal force is assumed along the tube length due to the rotating of the tube, moreover, the nanotube is made of functionally graded material (FGM) composed of ceramic and metal phases along the tube radius direction. The generalized differential quadratic method (GDQM) is utilized to solve the formulations. Finally, the numerical results are discussed in detail to examine the impact of different relevant parameters on the bending the buckling behavior of the rotating nanotube.

Geometrically nonlinear buckling of functionally graded magneto-electro-elastic (FG-MEE) nanoshells with the use of classical shell theory and nonlocal strain gradient theory (NSGT) has been analyzed in present research. Mathematical formulation based on NSGT gives two scale coefficients for simultaneous description of structural stiffness reduction and increment. Functional gradation of material properties is described based on power-law formulation. The nanoshell is under a multi-physical field related to applied voltage, magnetic potential, and mechanical load. Exerting a strong electric voltage, magnetic potential or mechanical load may lead to buckling of nanoshell. Taking into account geometric nonlinearity effects after buckling, the behavior of nanoshell in post-buckling regime can be analyzed. Nonlinear governing equations are reduced to ordinary equations utilizing Galerkin's approach and post-buckling curves are obtained based on an analytical procedure. It will be shown that post-buckling curves are dependent on nonlocal/strain gradient parameters, electric voltage magnitude and sign, magnetic potential magnitude and sign and material gradation exponent.

A complex chemical equilibrium analysis was performed to study the hot-wall CVD process of the SiC/C functionally gradient materials (FGM). Thermochemical calculations of the Si-C-H-Cl system were carried out, and the effects of process variables(deposition temperature, reactor pressure, C/[Si+C] and H/[Si+C] ratios in the source gas) on the composition of deposited layers and the deposition yield were investigated. The CVD phase diagrams of the SiC/C FGM deposition were obtained, and the optimum process windows were estimated from the results.

In this study, mechanical characteristics test of Functionally Gradient Materia (FGM) was performed by means of Modified Small Punch (MSP) Test with FGM; NiCrAlY-8YSZ and PSZ-Ni. To determine fracture mechanic factor, it was carried out MSP test that has possibility with small specimen (10*10*0.5 mm$^{t}$ ) and AE test to analyze micro fracture mechanism. As a result, fracture behavior became varied from brittle fracture to ductile as the content of Ni(or NiCrAlY) composition was increased and fracture energy was increased too. AE characteristics demonstrated that AE technique can detect the onset of fracture processes and AE energy was suddenly increased in the vicinity of maximum load. Since Young's modulus, fracture stress and fracture toughness was determined by MSP test, it can be known that the composition of NiCrAly 75%/8YSZ25% has the best mechanical property and furthermore this result is supported with fracture surface observation.

Stress and displacement fields of a propagating Mode III crack in an orthotropic functionally gradient material (OFGM), which has (1) linear variation of shear modulus with a constant density, and (2) an exponential variation of shear modulus and density, are derived. The equations of motion in OFGM are developed and solution to the displacement and stress fields fer a propagating crack at constant speed though an asymptotic analysis. The stress terms associated with $\gamma^{-1/2}\;and\;\gamma^{0}$ are not affected by the FGM constant $\zeta$ which is nonhomogeneous parameter, only on the higher order terms, the influences of nonhomogeneity on the stress are explicitly brought out. When the FGM constant $\zeta\;is\;zero\;or\;\gamma{\rightarrow}0$, the fields for OFGM are almost same as the those for homogeneous orthotropic material. Using the stress components, the effects of nonhomogeneity on stress components are discussed.

The present status of the thennomechanica1 evaluation of functionally gradient materials(FGMs) for space plane application was reviewed, in which research activities and the cooperation of the national project team organized to study FGM science were demonstrated. The project team was divided into three working groups; de singing, processing and evaluation, each of which had their own tasks in the project cooperation. The testings details of the various thennomechanical tests for the FGM samples fabricated by the processing groups were described, along with their corresponding heating conditions of the real environments in the space plane application. For small-sized samples, laser beam heating test and burner heating test were well applied to study the heat shielding and heat resisting properties. Arc-heated wind tunnel test and high temperature!high velocity gas flow test were used for large-sized panel assemblies having cooling structures. The criteria for the evaluation of the heat shielding and heat resisting properties of the FGMs, as well as a crack activation mechanism in their differential temperature heating, were proposed on the basis of the observation in the burner heating test.

This paper is concerned with the buckling behavior of functionally graded graphene reinforced porous nanocomposite beams based on the finite element method (FEM) using two variables trigonometric shear deformation theory. Both Young's modulus and material density of the FGP beam element are simultaneously considered as grading through the thickness of the beam. The finite element approach is developed using a nonlocal strain gradient theory. The governing equations derived here are solved introducing a 3-nodes beam element, and then the critical buckling load is calculated with different porosity distributions and GPL dispersion patterns. After a convergence and validation study to verify the accuracy of the present model, a comprehensive parametric study is carried out, with a particular focus on the effects of weight fraction, distribution pattern of GPL reinforcements on the Buckling behavior of the nanocomposite beam. The effects of various structural parameters such as the dispersion patterns for the graphene and porosity, thickness ratio, boundary conditions, and nonlocal and strain gradient parameters are brought out. The results indicate that porosity distribution and GPL pattern have significant effects on the response of the nanocomposite beams, and the results allows to identify the most effective way to achieve improved buckling behavior of the porous nanocomposite beam.
