  • This article highlights the importance of design in the formation of worldview paradigms in global culture. The research aims to investigate the design development as a part of the culture and its significance in the social development of society and worldview standards. The article uses general scientific methods of cognition, showing the transformation of design in the social and cultural sphere based on scientific and business literature. The research results show the chronology of design development as a factor determining the development of society and its worldview. In particular, the epoch of modernism, classical functionalism, postmodernism, post-industrialism, and digital design show their own particularities of design development. Furthermore, the article reveals the peculiarities of design development and its requirements depending on the development of society, progress, and civilization in general. The question of current and future trends in the development of design as a factor of worldview paradigms in the culture is based on digitalization, globalization, and the formation of design as an independent entity that determines man's place in the world and society.

  • This research aims to investigate Park Kilyong's architectural theory and critique of Gyeongseong (Seoul) buildings, expressed in his 'Overview of Modern Buildings in Gyeongseong' and 'Critique of Gyeongseong Buildings' (Samcheolli, Sept. and Oct. 1935); and 'Architectural Form of the 100% Function' and 'The Modern and Architecture (1)-(4)' (Dong-A Daily, 28 Jul. to 1 Aug. 1936). As a result, it is confirmed that Park had the functionalist theory of modern architecture, which suggests that Korean architects of the Japanese colonial period were accommodating the contemporary trend of world architecture. However, Park shows his fundamental limitations in the fact that the main content of his articles was a verbatim translation of two Japanese references (Kurata, 1927; Ishihara, 1929) without proper indications. Despite the limitations, his texts are still meaningful since he formed his own architectural theory on the basis of what he translated; and indeed his critique of Gyeongseong buildings, however simple, was based on the theory. This research makes a critical analysis of Park's functionalist theory from both the 1930s' and present points of view and compares his commentaries on Gyeongseong architecture with those by Ko Yu-seop (1932) and Hong Yunsick (1937), illustrating how Korea perceived architecture and modernism in 1930s.

  • For Bauhaus, the vaious typography experiments developed around the printing workshops, and it was only in the later Weimar Period that L. Moooly-Nagy, who came to be in charge of the rxinting workshops, approached it from the functional way of thinking and demanded print type reforms Using this as the basis, a new form of typograph called "typophoto" was developed by combining images and characters together using photography techniques and Bauhaus Unification Chaacter producyion. Harbert Bayer, striving at molds based on the ideologies of L. Moody-Nagy, prepared the framework for modern informational advertisements by producing a variety of advertisements based on several law of psychology and physiology. Bayer's successor, Joost Schmidt focused on lettering based on functionalism and typographic training and practice, while pioneering in the new area of display design wiwh efficient usage of space for exhibitions a1d dsplays. Thus, despite being carried doWl by the same leader in the sane era, the series of typographic experiments undertaken by the artists Bauhaus present guidelines to the direction modern visual communication must take through creativity and insight into the upcoming future that is not contained within the boundaries of traditions and customs.and customs.

  • Contemporary hospital has more and more extension because the growth and change of hospital has to respond the various needs. For expanding, the sky bridge(sky walk) becomes one of the method to interconnect two or more buildings on the air. Sometimes the designers don't know exactly how the sky bridge works after construction. Beyond the role of interconnecting two buildings, the role of sky bridge is transformed the main axis of pedestrian in the whole hospital organization. This scope of analysis is about the sky bridge of Hanyang University hospital. The first method is the investigation of the utilization in this time. The second is the analysis of design drawings got form the designing of the past(1994-1998). From this analysis, the conclusions are followings.;The designer who wants to apply the sky bridge should more consider about, 1) how the sky bridge impacts the whole spatial system such as the pedestrian, patients, physicians, service's facilities etc. 2) what the inside of sky bridge has something such as natural light, ventilation, and the height, depth, width of aisle, the sign for seeking orientation. etc. In future the research relating sky bridge should be studied some hospital as well as one hospital for comparing the characteristics of the concepts and organizations

  • Fast developing digital technology is Having an enormous societal influence, creating a porous new world without boundaries. This phenomenon applies to a whole range of fields, including culture, politics and even our daily lives. Urban Street cannot be excluded from this world-transforming change. Digital technology is changing the physical structure, growing patterns, function and role of the Urban Street. As a result, Urban Street should now be freeing themselves from the old-world functionalism, which has been pursued uniformly under the names of rationality and efficiency. We have, then, to think about the culture of the Digital Urban Street,'that is, the digital life style, which is tangibly generated in the concrete city space, and which must be prepared for further digitalization. This paper argues that the street must be understood as a communications centre, because digital technology has created a new communications style. Also, this paper focuses on how the physical environment of Urban Street will evolve with regard to both function and appearance. In conclusion, studying the ubiquitous space, it also looks at how existing urban planning and space design should lead to the further development of Urban Street using digital technology, as well as to the role this technology will have in the future.

The study helped to re-evaluate Stella's work by examining its expansion into the plastic arts. 3. The study analysed the plastic works of Prank Stella and his effect on plastic arts within the modem art trend of America. In conclusion, Frank Stella played a leading role in today's American art style and had a potent influence on the trends of America's modem U. In recent years, his work has had an impacted on the design of parks and art galleries. America's industrial society is led by the growth of economic power and the development of science and technology. In America's architecture and landscape architecture, such new forms as minimalism functionalism, cubism and abstract expressionism, which have been influenced by art movements, emerged in California and the east coast. Influences of Stella such as these are the remedy for a vested stubborn concept of architecture and landscape architecture by introducing a sense of pictorial space in these fields. In landscape architecture, the introduction of art trends appears in several ways. Mainly the trend of Minimalist Art, influenced by Modernism, can be seen in much Landscape Architecture. Frank Stella contributed to the development of such minimalist art.

  • Starting in modern times by Le Corbusier, architectures made by concretes are still developing in these times. For several decades, the shape of box architecture has been the most familiar type of buildings. Of course "The concrete is the type of box building" isn't always right, but what we have most seen was the buildings which has been stylized and made by concretes. Through modern times to these days based on international style and functionalism, the type of box building was the most effective and good profit type of architecture which has not disregarded the capitalism. Free-form building are becoming a common place, and many of these are designed and constructed using sophisticated techniques. The main technique being used is Generative Technology of Form for free-form construction. People's interest is growing in this, and it is becoming widely used both abroad and domestically. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the use of Generative Technology of Form which is a digitally adapted design methodology in architecture. The digital design process used for contemporary buildings share many typical features that exist within a standard digital template, but also an increasing amount of mass customization that has to be produced at an additional cost. This paper will summarize these features in terms of free-form architecture, and in terms of the digital design process. In fact, 3D models have to be conceded as main design products considering features of Free Form Design Architecture. However it is practical to design twice over, because all forms of architectural drawings are 2D. From now on, design of Free Form Design Building is not to separate between design process and practical process, but to compound them as unified design system applied the process to communicate information interactively. For this, it should be required to impose unified digital design process and perform researches about effective way to apply in the field of Free-form Design Architecture.

  • This study purposed to apply function form content, the three concepts that have been discussed by many philosophers since ancient times, to fashion design. Specific research goals are : first, to define fashion design based on the three concepts : and second, to examine how each of the three concepts function-oriented, form-oriented and content-oriented design have been expressed in women's fashion in the $20^{th} century. For these purposes. the author considered Morris' semiotics, which is the theoretical background of the three concepts, reviewed previous researches in design area, and applied the findings to fashion design. According to the result of applying the threefold structure of semiotics. which is the theoretical background of the three concepts, the pragmatic dimension of fashion design comprehends all functional rules related to the use of dress such as body motion and protection, health and safety. air flow and durability, and its syntactic dimension comprehend all the formal elements of visual design such as the structure, shape, line, color and material of dress. The semantic dimension of fashion design includes the symbolic meanings of dress expressed by emotion, sentiment and images. The three dimensions exist interdependently with one another. According to the result of considering the characteristics of the three concepts in the scope of women's fashion in the $20^{th} century. function-oriented design is characterized by practicality and simplicity, and has been expressed as the fashion of functionalism in the 1920s, that of minimalism in the 1960s, and the basic style from 1970s to 1980s, 1990s and the present. Form-oriented design has pursued aestheticism, putting stress upon form, and has been expressed with organic shapes imitating patterns found in nature in the 1950s and with optical art fashion in the 1960s. Content-oriented design attaches importance to transmission of delicate meanings related to the mental world of human beings, and is represented with symbolic forms. Such a characteristic has been expressed in fashion in the early 20th century influenced by surrealism and, with various types of design breaking established forms as well as metaphors and humors that characterize design in the late 20th century.
