A Study on the Analysis of Quality Attributes on the Software Architecture for Development of a Navigation System Platform of Autonomous Ships

  • Technology-driven development of a new system makes it difficult for users and stakeholders to identify or intervene in the development process, resulting in systems with unnecessary functions and poor quality services. Applying the software architecture design process to the initial design of the navigation system platform of autonomous ships enables the development of a system that reflects the required functions and service quality of the stakeholders. The design, which includes all of the subsystems that make up an autonomous ship platform, is close to an enterprise architecture. Thus, we strived to design a navigation system platform suitable for the design range of the software architecture. This study analyzed the definition of functional requirements, and quality attributes by applying the software architecture design procedure. This study was conducted to identify the characteristics of the navigation system and platform needs, and the stakeholders were identified. To derive the functional requirements and constraints of the platform, a quality attributes workshop was held engaging stakeholders, and the results of the analysis of functional requirements and quality attributes were listed. Based on the results of this study, the architect can establish the evidence and technical solutions that are integral for the architecture development, and will facilitate the creation of quality attribute scenarios.

  • The defense system development process is a process of developing various systems that perform functions in various functional areas such as battlefield awareness, command control, force application, and logistical support. In other words, the defense system development process is a process of developing many systems simultaneously in various functional areas. Various systems developed through this process should be interoperable so that they can be integrated and operated in a joint warfighting environment. To successfully implement this, the US Department of Defense uses the Joint Capability Integrated Development System(JCIDS) for the defense system development, and within this JCIDS processes the Capability Based Assessment(CBA) methodology as its core technology. This CBA methodology transforms the mission activity requirements to functional capability requirements logically and transforms the functional capability requirements to system requirements logically also. Smart City is a city that improves the convenience and quality of life of the citizen by integrates various systems that perform various functions of the city and smarties various functional systems with smart services by using IT technology. In other words, defense system development and smart city development have a common feature of the process of developing many systems simultaneously in various functional areas. In order to address the problem of having to develop many systems simultaneously in each functional area, it is important to logically transform the various mission scenarios into functions and logically transform the functions into systems. Therefore, a joint capability integrated development system and its core methodology, Capability Based Assessment(CBA), can be applied to smart city development. This paper proposes a method for performing a smart city concept design method using the capability based evaluation (CBA) method.

  • Administrative information dataset records produced by various systems designed for work are difficult to manage on a case-by-case basis, requiring separate procedures to identify and evaluate data-sets. Identified data set records are apprasal and transferred to the records management system or disposed of. In this process, sufficient records management elements must be reflected in the production system itself in order to adhere to the principles of record management. In this paper, the functional requirements of the production system to accurately identify and safely manage data-sets were derived and applied based on the case of the KR property management system. It is hoped that this research on functional requirements of production systems will be added to lead to the creation of standards for functional requirements of data set production systems.

  • With the development of autonomous driving technology, as the use of software in vehicles increases, the complexity of the system increases and the difficulty of development increases. Developments that meet ISO 26262 must be carried out to reduce the malfunctions that may occur in vehicles where the system is becoming more complex. ISO 26262 for the functional safety of the vehicle industry proposes to consider functional safety from the design stage to all stages of development. Specifically at the software level, the requirements to be complied with during development and the requirements to be complied with during verification are defined. However, it is not clearly expressed about specific design methods or development methods, and it is necessary to supplement development guidelines. The importance of analysis and verification of requirements is increasing due to the development of technology and the increase of system complexity. The vehicle industry must carry out developments that meet functional safety requirements while carrying out various development activities. We propose a process that reflects the perspective of system engineering to meet the smooth application and developmentrequirements of ISO 26262. In addition, the safety analysis/verification FMEA processforthe safety of the proposed ISO 26262 function was conducted based on the FCAS (Forward Collision Avoidance Assist System) function applied to autonomous vehicles and the results were confirmed.   • The productivity improvement is indispensible to shipbuilding industry for maintaining the world's No. 1. Simulation based production recently has been an issue as prat of efforts to high efficiency production and Korean shipyards requests simulation system tools specialized in a shipbuilding industry. IT convergence project between conventional shipbuilding industry and IT simulation technology has been carried out and integrated simulation framework was proposed as a way to overcome sporadic developments. The framework would provide reusability of kernels and modules and also ensure for expansibilities to other production simulations. The fact that production simulation system should reflect shipyard requirement would be most important. We suggest an analysis process of customer requirements and functional requirements for production simulations. It is partially based on concepts of software engineering and axiomatic design. The process is applied to a design of configuration for simulation framework.

  • This paper represents a study on design hypothesis to improve properties of a product. The functional requirements and function structure of various technical products are analysed. From the above analysis we could formulate one hypothesis. This hypothesis also satisfies basic rules clarity, simplicity and safety that are required in all design cases. The hypothesis says that functional requirements is refined to improve and if there are components which have the same function, they can be integrated into one component and improved. A one-handed faucet was developed by applying the above hypothesis to a two-handed faucet. The design of heat exchange tester was be improved successfully through the hypothesis.

  • Distribution management system or microgrid energy management system plays an important role in monitoring, operation and control of electrical distribution systems by utilizing IT infrastructure. Nowadays, the rapid increase of the distributed resources makes the conventional management system have some additional functionality for the reliable operation due to intermittent renewables and the efficient operation on the economical purpose. In this paper, the brief standard software functional requirements of microgrid energy management system are provided through survey of the recent commercial products of the major vendors, and furthermore the architectures of microgrid energy management system are provided in comparison with major suppliers' microgrid energy management system. The summary of investigation will be able to make the developers and researchers focus on the specific functionality in the real world.

  • This study assumed that the best road guidance system for the vision impaired is a robot and analyzed and verified the requirements of road guidance system. In order to do so, the characteristics and inconveniences of the vision impaired as passengers and pedestrians were examined and their reactions to warnings and dangerous situations were analyzed. Users' needs and robots' functional requirements were applied to analyze the requirements of road guidance system. To verify whether the proposed requirements would be applied to robots effectively, a service scenario was used.

  • Under the physical records management system, both the records and users could be controlled and secured by closing the door of Archives or using permitted records which is used only approved users. According to the electronic records management system and the concept of service on the basis of users, we have to give up the classical manner. As an alternative, we have to consider the electronic access control system. To accomplish this purpose, functional requirements of ERMS that is issued by UK, EU, U.S and Australia must be compared and analyzed. On the basis of U.K ERMS which is more detailed, 'common access control functional requirements' are arranged. As the access control functional requirements is applied in the records classification scheme, we could find out how the access control is executed in ERMS.

  • The primary goal of the requirement analysis phase during information system development is to identify and document what is really needed, in a form that clearly communicates to the user and to development team members. Presented in this paper is a QFD(Quality Function Deployment)-based requirement analysis method and procedure for developing a large-scale enterprise information system. For the purpose of elicitation of software functional requirements, this paper adopts the method of HOQ(House Of Quality) and proposes a simplified HOQ which is more suitable for the software requirement analysis. As a result of this paper, it suggests desired functionalities for an integrated design &manufacturing information system.
