The economic efficiency for fishery products can be related to their freshness and the quality. In order to freshly storage the product, freezing equipment system is necessary for fishing vessels. For this purpose, the horizontal plate freezer (HPF) is mostly used. In this research, our major objective is to improve the freezing performance of the HPF. Therefore, it is important to analyse the relationship between the shape of channels and the cooling temperature of the HPF. In order to save calculation time while checking the trend analysis between shape and performance, we used scaled models, and evaluate the cooling temperature of full scale model based on trend analysis results. The produced HPF in domestic was used, and the same operating conditions are considered. Based on this paper, the future research will be a comparison and verification through the experiments.

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the static & dynamic behavior of a precast bracket under precast road deck slab of double deck tunnel. In order to improve the construction speed, the field prefabricated bracket to connect the intermediate slab to the precast shield tunnel lining structure has been developed in the 'SPC (Steel Precast Concrete) bracket'. The experiments were performed for the full scale model in order to evaluate the performance of the 'SPC bracket', the structural stability was verified through the FEM analysis. The result of static loading test, no deformations or cracks of the bracket undergo the ultimate load was investigated. In addition, no pulling or deformation of the chemical anchor for fixing the bracket was measured. As a result of dynamic loading test, it was investigated that there is no problem in the chemical anchor for fixing the bracket. FEM analysis showed similar behavior to static load test and it was determined that there is no problem in serviceability and structural safety.
The mapping of dark matter clustering from real to redshift spaces introduces the anisotropic property to the measured density power spectrum in redshift space, known as the Redshift Space Distortion (hereafter RSD) effect. The mapping formula is intrinsically non-linear, which is complicated by the higher order polynomials due to the indefinite cross correlations between the density and velocity fields, and the Finger-of-God (hereafter FoG) effect due to the randomness of the peculiar velocity field. Furthermore, the rigorous test of this mapping formula is contaminated by the unknown non-linearity of the density and velocity fields, including their auto- and cross-correlations, for calculating which our theoretical calculation breaks down beyond some scales. Whilst the full higher order polynomials remains unknown, the other systematics can be controlled consistently within the same order truncation in the expansion of the mapping formula, as shown in this paper. The systematic due to the unknown non-linear density and velocity fields is removed by separately measuring all terms in the expansion using simulations. The uncertainty caused by the velocity randomness is controlled by splitting the FoG term into two pieces, 1) the non-local FoG term being independent of the separation vector between two different points, and 2) the local FoG term appearing as an indefinite polynomials which is expanded in the same order as all other perturbative polynomials. Using 100 realizations of simulations, we find that the best fitted non-local FoG function is Gaussian, with only one scale-independent free parameter, and that our new mapping formulation accurately reproduces the observed power spectrum in redshift space at the smallest scales by far, up to k ~ 0.3 h/Mpc, considering the resolution of future experiments.

The cold start problem is one of major obstacles to overcome for the commercialization of fuel cell vehicles. However, the cold start characteristics of fuel cell systems are very complicated since various phenomena, i.e. ice-blocking, electro-chemical reactions, heat transfer, and defrosting of BOP components, are involved in them. This paper presents a framework to approach the problem at a full stack scale using Axiomatic Design (AD). It was characterized in terms of Functional Requirements (FRs) and Design Parameters (DPs) while their relations were established in a design matrix. Considering the design matrix, the endplates should have low thermal conductivity and capacity without increase in weight or decrease in structural stiffness. Consequently, composite sandwich endplates were proposed and examined both through finite element analyses and experiments simulating cold start conditions. From the examinations, it was found that the composite sandwich endplates significantly contributed to improving the cold start characteristics of PEMFC.

The paper presented the seismic performance of T-stiffener moment connections for use in steel moment-resisting frames. The connections were strengthened by welding the vertical and horizontal clement of the T-stiffener to the beam flange and column f1ange. Finite clement analysis and experiments were conducted to determine the behavior of T-stiffener-reinforced connections. The results of the finite element analysis confirmed the effectiveness of the T-stiffener, whose horizontal element lengthened to mitigate local stress concentrations of the beam flange on the horizontal stiffener. Full-scale specimens were also tested cyclically to study hysteresis behavior. The main parameters used were the ratio of the T-stiffener to beam strength and the shape of the horizontal element. As the length of the horizontal element increased, the deformation capacity of the connections enhanced. Likewise, all specimens behaved according to the Ramberg-Osgood curve and showed stable hysteresis behavior.
The purpose of this research was to analyze the connections of the seismic-performance values for domestic-performance-based designs. Basic research on the performance design method has been increasing of late, along with performance-based organization investigations. These investigations concern the performance level state of steel structure buildings. According to the performance limit state, seismic-performance values should be presented as appropriate steel structure engineering amounts. The first step, based on the full-scale steel structure experiments, involves researching on the making of a basic document. The moment-rotation angle relationship results of the experiment on the moment-frame connection were used to assort the functional and undamaged limits, which were assumed to be less than the yield moment. Moreover, the repairable and safety limits, which were assumed to exist between the yield and maximum moments, were assorted by investigating the accumulated plastic deformation ratio.
This study presents application effects of hybrid seismic isolation system to realize high seismic performance for low-rise lightweight buildings through a non-linear analysis and onsite experiments. The complex seismic isolation system applied in this study is a method of mixing sliding bearing and laminated rubber bearing in order to overcome limitation of laminated rubber bearing in increasing natural period of the whole seismic isolation system. As a result of the non-linear analysis, seismic isolation buildings designed with complex seismic isolation system are safe because its maximum response displacement is within allowable design displacement even for a strong earthquake which rarely occurs and its maximum response shear is less than design seismic force. As a result of the onsite experiment, the rigidity of seismic isolation stories corresponds to approximately 95.8% of the design equivalent stiffness value. This indicates that actual properties of the whole seismic isolation system correspond to design values.

NIL (nanoimprint lithography) technique has demonstrated a high potential for wafer size definition of nanometer as well as micrometer size patterns. During the replication process by NIL, the stiction between the stamp and the polymer is one of major problems. This stiction problem is moi·e important in small sized patterns. An antistiction layer prevents this stiction ana insures a clean demolding process. In this paper, we were using a TCP (transfer coupled plasma) equipment and $C_4F_8$ as a precursor to make a Teflon-like antistiction layer. This antistiction layer was deposited on a 6 inch silicon wafer to have nanometer scale thicknesses. The thickness of deposited antistiction layer was measured by ellipsometry. To optimize the process factor such as table height (TH), substrate temperature (ST), working pressure (WP) and plasma power (PP), we were using a design of experimental (DOE) method. The table of full factorial arrays was set by the 4 factors and 2 levels. Using this table, experiments were organized to achieve 2 responses such as deposition rate and non-uniformity. It was investigated that the main effects and interaction effects between parameters. Deposition rate was in proportion to table height, working pressure and plasma power. Non-uniformity was in proportion to substrate temperature and working pressure. Using a response optimization, we were able to get the optimized deposition condition at desired deposition rate and an experimental deposition rate showed similar results.
A two-phase closed thermosyphon with circular fins was used as the heat transfer device for storing the thermal energy in paraffin wax. Experiments were carried out for 4, 6 and 8 fins and for various initial temperatures of the wax and power inputs. Heat transfer characteristics along the heat flow path were investigated as well as the overall performance of the system. Some of the important results are as follows:(1) The thermosyphon heat transfer coefficient and the overall heat transfer coefficient increased with the number of fins, whereas the heat transfer coefficient between the fin and the wax decreased; (2) Facilitation of heat transfer by the fins seemed to alleviate the dry-out phenomenon that had been reported to occur in case of bare thermosyphon; and (3) The horizontal fins had adverse effect of subduing a full scale convection in the wax, and the increase of the number of fins delayed the onset of local convection between the fins.
Objective: Low level laser treatment (LLLT) is widely used in physical therapy practice. It is combined with physical therapy or LLLT alone. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of LLLT on patients' perception of general wrist pain. Design: Longitudinal study. Methods: Forty-eight subjects with wrist pain who were in the age range of 18-70 years old were examined. The subjects were asked, via an interview and a visual analog scale, to grade their wrist pain. They were asked to rotate their wrists through full range of motion and the angle at which any pain occurred was assessed. Each subject was then exposed to one of the following: 1) treatment with an infrared laser with the power turned off (placebo), 2) treatment with an infrared therapeutic laser, 3) treatment with a red therapeutic laser, 4) treatment with an ultraviolet laser, 5) treatment with a blue laser, 6) treatment with a Mickey Mouse flashlight. The duration of the treatment was 3 sessions in 3 days. Results: The results of the experiments showed that while pain was reduced both immediately after and the next day after laser therapy (p<0.05), there was no significant difference between the laser groups and the placebo group. However, the Mickey Mouse flashlight treatment groups had a greater range of motion than the laser groups (p<0.05). Conclusions: While pain was reduced in all laser groups, it was probably a placebo effect. The Mickey Mouse flashlight group probably received benefit from the heat of the flashlight.
