스털링 기관용 재생기에 관한 기초 연구 (III) - 복합메쉬 철망을 축열재로 한 재생기의 전열 및 유동손실 특성 - (Basic Study on the Regenerator of Stilting Engine (III) - Heat Transfer and Flow Friction Characteristic of the Regenerator with Combined Wire-mesh Matrix -)

  • The output of Stirling engine is influenced by the regenerator effectiveness. The regenerator effectiveness is influenced by heat transfer and flow friction loss of the regenerator matrix. In this paper, in order to provide a basic data for the design of regenerator matrix, characteristics of heat transfer and flow friction loss were investigated by a packed method of matrix in the oscillating flow as the same condition of operation in a Stirling engine. As matrices, several kinds of combined wire screen meshes were used. The results are summarized as follows; The packed meshes with high mesh no. in the side of heater part of regenerator showed effective than the packed meshes with low mesh no. in the side of cooler part of regenerator. The temperature difference and pressure drop of the regenerator were not made by the specific surface area of wire screen meshes but by the minimum free-flow area to the total frontal area. Among the No. 150 single screen meshes, 200-60 combined meshes, the 200-150-100 combined meshes showed the highest in effectiveness.

  • Experimental investigations of the heat transfer and friction factors in the ribbed divergent rectangular channel with the channel exit hydraulic diameter to inlet hydraulic diameter ratio of 1.16 were performed. The surface heaters were mounted onto the two opposite walls. The main experimental parameter is the ratio of rib pitch (p) to height (e), at which the ratios (p/e) of 6, 10, and 14 are considered in the channel with ribs on one wall only. The straight ribbed square channel is also considered as a comparison. The major findings are that the ratio of p/e = 6 shows the highest values in the heat transfer and the ratio of p/e = 10 indicates the greatest friction factor in the ribbed divergent channel.   • In this study, the correction process of stress-strain curves obtained from hot compression test is introduced since the barreling induced by friction and adiabatic heat generation induced by plastic work occur under high strain rate. A shear friction factor was quantitatively estimated by measuring the dimension of barreling and temperature rise due to adiabatic heat generation was directly measured during compression test. Thereafter, the stress-strain curves were re-evaluated by introducing several equations to correct the effects of the friction and temperature rise. It was found that adiabatic factor at strain rate of 10/s is in the range of about 0.5 to 0.75 for Nimonic 80A and decreases as the assigned temperature increases.

  • An experimental study on the air-side pressure drop and heat transfer coefficient of slit fin-tube heat exchanger has been carried out. The data reduction methodology for air-side heat transfer coefficients in the literature is not based on a consistent approach. This paper focuses on new method of data reduction to obtain the air-side performance of fin-tube heat exchanger using R22 and recommends standard procedures for dry and wet surface heat transfer estimation in fin-tube heat exchanger having refrigerant on the tube-side. Results are presented as plots of friction f-factor and Colburn j -factor against Reynolds number based on the fin collar outside diameter and compared with previous studies. The data covers a range of refrigerant mass fluxes of 150∼250 kg/$m^2$s with air flows at velocity ranges from 0.3 m/s to 0.8 m/s.

  • The purpose of the present study is to investigate the capillary heat transportation limitation in heat pipe according to the change of screen mesh wick porosity. Diameter of pipe was 6 mm, and mesh numbers are 100, 150, 200 and 250 and water was selected as a working fluid. According to the change of wick porosity and mesh number, the capillary pressure, pumping pressure, liquid friction coefficient in wick, vapor friction coefficient, and capillary heat transportation limitation are analyzed by theoretical design method of a heat pipe. As some results, the capillary heat transportation limitation in screen mesh wick heat pipe is largely affected by wick porosity and mesh number.

  • Linear motion (LM) ball guides have good accuracy and high efficiency. They are widely applied for precision machinery such as machine tools, semiconductor fabrication machines and robots. However, friction force incurs heat between the balls and grooves. Thermal expansion due to the heat deteriorates stiffness and accuracy of the LM ball guides. For accurate estimation of stiffness and accuracy during the linear motion, friction models of LM ball guides are required. To formulate accurate frictional models of LM ball guides according to load and preload conditions, rolling and viscous frictional analyses have been performed in this paper. Contact loads between balls and grooves are derived from Hertzian contact analysis. Contact angle variation is incorporated for the precision modeling. Viscous friction model is formulated from the shear stress of lubricant and the contact area between balls and grooves. Experiments confirm validity of the developed friction model for various external load and feedrate conditions.

침탄처리한 Ni-Cr-Mo강의 마찰-마모특성 (Friction-Wear Properties of Carburized SNCM)

  • In this study, friction-wear test was carried out on the carburized layer depth of a mechanical structure steel SNCM carburized with RX and LPG for 7hrs at $930^{\circ}C$ and also the wear properties of wear loss, wear rate, coefficient of friction, friction force and friction temperature were investigated. The wear properties for carburized layer of SNCM were tested on dry condition at the room temperature by the thrust load of 49~245N range at sliding speed of 0.2m/sec and the sliding speed of 0.2~1.0m/sec range at thrust load of 98N. Wear loss on the depth of carburizing layer was increased with increasing of thrust load and sliding speed, and with decreasing of hardness. The condition of worn surfaces were showed mild wear at less than the thrust load of 98N and sliding speed of 0.6m/sec but were showed severe wear at more than 98N and 0.6m/sec. The friction load and temperature were increased with increasing of thrust load but with increasing sliding speed was appeared minimum at 0.6m/sec. With increasing thrust load the wear rate was increased and the coefficient of friction was decreased, but with increasing sliding speed the wear rate and the coefficient of friction were decreased in 0.2~0.6m/sec and increased in 0.6~1.0m/sec, therefore 0.6m/sec in this testing is a transition velocity.

SM45C 중실축의 마찰용접 기계적 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Mechanical Properties of the Friction Welding with Solid Shaft of SM45C)

  • In the presented study, SM45C carbon steel parts were joined by friction welding. The welding process was carried out under optimized conditions using statistical approach. The study of SM45C is conducted with various combinations of process parameters. Parameter optimization, microstructure and mechanical property correlation are the major contribution of the study. The welded joints were produced by varying spindle revolution speed, friction pressure, upset pressure and burn-off length. Tension tests were applied to welded parts to obtain the strength of the joints. Fracturs properties were additionally obtained experimentally under fluctuated tensile loads. Microstructures using microphotographs were examined in the weld interface and weld region and heat affected zone and base metal and flash zone of welded parts. Finally, Hardness variations in welding zone and base metal were also obtained. Through these tests, the optimum conditions of parameters for ${\phi}20$ SM45C in friction welding were obtained when the friction spindle revolution was 1,950 rpm, the friction pressures was 30 MPs, upset pressures was 50 MPs.

졸-겔 공정에 의한 유기변성 하이브리드 세라믹 물질의 미세 마찰마모 특성 (Micro Friction and Wear Characteristics of Organically Modified Hybrid Ceramic Materials Synthesized by A Sol-Gel Process)

  • In order to enhance the thermal stability of binder materials of bonded type solid lubricants, several metal-alkoxide based sol-gel materials such as methyltrimethoxysilane(MTMOS), titaniumisopropoxide$(Ti(Opr^i)_4),$ zirconiumisopropoxide $(Zr(Opr^i)_4)$ and aluminumbutoxide$(Al(Obu^t)_4)$ were chemically modified by epoxy-, acrylic- and fluoro-silane compounds, respectively. Friction and wear characteristics of these hybrid ceramic materials were tested with a micro tribo-tester, and evaluated with respect to both heat-curing temperature and the time. Test results generally showed that hybrid ceramic materials modified by epoxy-silane compounds had a low friction compared to others. And the higher het-curing temperature and the longer heat treatment time resulted in the higher friction and the lower wear. IR spectroscopic analyses revealed that these results were caused mainly by the increased metal oxide content in hybrid ceramics when the heat-curing temperature was over $320^{\circ}C.$
