  • The analog front end (AFE) of a radio frequency identification transponder using the ISO 14443 type A standard with a 100% amplitude shift keying (ASK) modulation is proposed in this paper and verified by circuit simulations and measurements. This AFE circuit, using a 13.56 MHz carrier frequency, consists of a rectifier, a modulator, a demodulator, a regulator, a power on reset, and a dynamically enabled digital phase locked loop (DPLL). The DPLL, with a charge pump enable circuit, was used to recover the clock of a 100% modulated ASK signal during the pause period. A high voltage lateral double diffused metal-oxide semiconductor transistor was used to protect the rectifier and the clock recovery circuit from high voltages. The proposed AFE was fabricated using the $0.18\;{\mu}m$ standard CMOS process, with an AFE core size of $350\;{\mu}m\;{\times}\;230\;{\mu}m$. The measurement results show that the DPLL, using a demodulator output signal, generates a constant 1.695 MHz clock during the pause period of the 100% ASK signal.

  • This study attempts to analyse the solid mixing in the feeder and the packing effect for pressure fluctuations in the fluidized bed. To study the mixing characteristics of solid in vibrating feeder for the stable operations of fluidized combustion, the system consisted of two groups of particles such that fine particles were located on the top of the coarse particles before vibratory mixing had started. The effects of packing materials on the pressure fluctuations in a fluidized bed were analysed by using a statistical method to interpret the behavior of fluidized bed. The experiments were carried out in a fluidized bed of 6.7cm-ID, and the experimental variables were particle sizes, of 115 to 1,015$\mu\textrm{m}$ in diameter and the multi-sized particles haying Rosin-Rammler and Gaussian distributions. The settled bed heights of particles to diameter ratios (L/D) were ranged from 0.5 to 2.0. And fluidizing of particles was carried out by air. The packing materials used were screen packing, and the properties of the pressure fluctuations in the fluidized bed were measured by a differential pressure transducer. The properties of the pressure fluctuations calculated were the mean, the standard deviation, and the major frequency of the power spectral density functions. From the characteristics of fluidizing, it was found that the standard deviation of pressure fluctuations could be effectively used to explain the fluidized phenomena, and the packing materials affected severely the properties of the pressure fluctuations. As a result, from the interpretation by spectral analysis, the effects of measuring radius of pressure fluctuations on standard deviation were constant in the case of the fluidized bed with and without packing materials. However, the effects of measuring the height of pressure fluctuations on standard deviations were linear increasing for the fluidized bed with packing materials, but were constant for the fluidized bed without packing materials at 4.5cm above the gas distributor. The major frequency of pressure fluctuations was found to be nearly independent of fluidized system. Also, the major frequency of pressure fluctuations decreased with increasing packing size, and it had maximum value at 10% of the packing amount.

  • A standard typhoon, which results in extreme wind speeds having various return period, can be reconstructed by combination of typhoon parameter informations(Kang et al., 2016). The aim of this study is to present a kind of surge-frequency analysis method by numerical simulation of a standard typhoon at Yeonggwang. MIKE21 was adopted as a numerical model and was proved to simulate the surge phenomena of the typhoon BOLAVEN(1215) well at several sites of the Western Coast. The simulation results with change of typhoon track which reflects typhoon-surge characteristics of the Western Coast show to have something in common with the observational results. This method is considered to be very efficient method on the point of simulating only one typhoon, while existing methods need to simulate a lot of typhoons.

  • The purpose of this paper is to research the correlation between frequency and the deletion of /w, (equation omitted)/ in Korean. For this purpose, I select 11 words from the frequency data, then, analyze the speech of 20 speakers of standard Korean. As a result, I can find that there is correlation between the frequency and the deletion rate of segment. The rate of deletion is higher in high frequency words, while the rate of realization is higher in low frequency words. Although there is correlation between the frequency and the deletion rate of segment, the feature of segment, prosodic environments are more important in segment deletion.

  • This paper proposes an improved carrier frequency offset (CFO) and sampling frequency offset (SFO) estimation scheme for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based broadcasting system with cyclic delay diversity (CDD) antenna. By exploiting a periodic nature of channel transfer function, cyclic delay and pilot pattern with a maximum channel power are carefully chosen, which helps to enable a robust estimation of CFO and SFO against the frequency selectivity of the channel. As a performance measure, a closed-form expression for the achievable mean square error of the proposed scheme is derived and is verified through simulations using the parameters of the digital radio mondiale standard. The comparison results show that the proposed frequency estimator is shown to benefit from properly selected delay parameter and pilot pattern, with a performance better than the existing estimator.

  • The alternative binary offset carrier (AltBOC) signal shares frequency spectrum with the phase shift keying (PSK) signal, enabling us to manage the satellite communication spectrum more efficiently. However, the side-peaks in the AltBOC autocorrelation pose an ambiguity in the AltBOC signal tracking, and consequently, makes the frequency sharing via the AltBOC difficult. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a cancellation scheme of the AltBOC correlation side-peaks. From the numerical results, it is confirmed that the proposed scheme removes the ambiguity in signal tracking caused by the side-peaks completely, and thus, has a much lower tracking error standard deviation (TESD) (i.e., a much better tracking performance) than the conventional scheme.

  • Objectives : This study sought to define autonomic functional difference on heart rate variability between headache patients and normal subjects Methods : We determined, heart rate variability of 52 headache patients and 30 normal subjects by means of three time domain measures: Mean PR(mean pulse rate), SDNN(standard deviation of all normal R-R intervals), RMSSD(the square root of the mean of sum of the squares of differences between adjacent normal R-R intervals), and five frequency domain measures: TP(total power), VLF(very low frequency), LF(low frequency), HF(high frequency). Results : 1) RMSSD, TP, HF, HF Norm of HRV decreased with aging and LF Norm, LF/HF increased with aging in headache patients. 2) There was no significant differences between migraine and tention headache in any standard index of HRV, whereas, HRV of total headache patients were smaller than those of normal subjects. 3) In the gender comparison, SDNN, RMSSD, HF of tention headache patients were the smallest and then migraine patients, normal subjects in order with man, whereas, LF Norm, LF/HF of normal subjects were the smallest with man. RMSSD of migraine patients were the smallest and then tention headache patients, normal subjects in order with women. 4) In the term of history of headache patients, SDNN, RMSSD were getting lower as long term. 5) There was no significant differences of HRV in physical symptom of headache patients. Conclusions : All of these results show that standard index of HRV of headache patients were significantly different with normal subjects.
