A 10-Gbit/s wireless communication system operating at a carrier frequency of 300 GHz is presented. The modulation scheme is amplitude shift keying in incoherent mode with a high intermediate frequency (IF) of 30 GHz and a bandwidth of 20 GHz for transmitting a 10-Gbit/s baseband (BB) data signal. A single sideband transmission is implemented using a waveguide-tapered 270-GHz high-pass filter with a lower sideband rejection of around 60 dB. This paper presents an all-electronic design of a terahertz communication system, including the major modules of the BB and IF band as well as the RF modules. The wireless link shows that, aided by a clock and data recovery circuit, it can receive $2^7$-1 pseudorandom binary sequence data without error at up to 10 Gbit/s for over 1.2 m using collimating lenses, where the transmitted power is 10 ${\mu}W$.
This paper presents a heuristic algorithm for classifying vehicles using a single loop detector. The data used for the development of the algorithm are the frequency variation of a vehicle sensored from the circle-shaped loop detectors which are normal buried beneath the expressway. The pre-processing of data is required for the development of the algorithm that actually consists of two parts. One is both normalization of occupancy time and that with frequency variation, the other is finding of an adaptable number of sample size for each vehicle category and calculation of average value of normalized frequencies along with occupancy time that will be stored for comparison. Then, detected values are compared with those stored data to locate the most fitted pattern. After the normalization process, we developed some frameworks for comparison schemes. The fitted scales used were 10 and 15 frames in occupancy time(X-axis) and 10 and 15 frames in frequency variation (Y-axis). A combination of X-Y 10-15 frame turned out to be the most efficient scale of normalization producing 96 percent correct classification rate for six types of vehicle.
The purpose of the study is to develop the normal voice database and to analyze the acoustic characteristics of Korean adults' voices by gender using MDVP. Eight categories in the 34 parameters of MDVP were analyzed in the voices of 170 Korean normal adults taken from /a/ vowel. Among them, Fundamental Frequency Parameters and Frequency Perturbation Parameters were significantly different by gender. In addition, Fundamental Frequency Parameters of our data were remarkably different from the data suggested in the MDVP program which currently used in clinics. Therefore, the data obtained from the current study can be effectively used for the diagnosis of voice disorders of Korean adults as the standard parameter values of MDVP.

Recently, a direct data-driven synthesis of a proportional integral derivative(PID) controller for a linear time-invariant(LTI) plant was presented in [1]. The authors showed that a complete set of PID controllers achieving robust performance and stability can be calculated directly from frequency response(FR) data without an identified transfer function model. However, it is not convenient to use this method because it requires complicated numerical algorithms to find specific frequencies which are solutions of an identical equation. The method also requires determination of the boundary of the controller's parameters from a finite set of FR data. In this paper, we present the development of a user-friendly Matlab toolbox based on the method in [1]. This toolbox allows us to obtain a complete three-dimensional(3-D) graphical solution of PID controllers that meet multiple design objectives. Several examples are given to demonstrate the use of the toolbox.
The growth of young-of-the-year blue spot mudskipper, Boleophthalmus pectinirostris, was investigated using length-frequency data for 395 individuals collected from a mud flat in southwestern Korea between August and October 2001. Three cohorts were separated by the Bhattacharya method. In October, individuals of cohort-I reached 98 mm in total length, whereas those of cohort-III reached just 66 mm. Each cohort reached hibernation in November, that could be related to the ring formation in the following year.
The robust stability condition for sampled-data control systems with a sector nonlinearity was presented in our previous paper. Although it is applicable only to the sampled-data control system of a certain class, a usual discretetime control system can belongs to this type of class. This paper analyzes the amplitude dependent behavior of nonlinear sampled-data (i.e., discrete-time) control systems in a frequency domain. By considering restricted areas (sectors) in the nonlinear characterisitic, the existence of a sustained oscillation is estimated, and the relationship between the stable/unstable conditions and the result derived from describing function is compared. Based on these considerations, the stabilization of nonlinear discrete-time control systems is examined in the frequency domain.
The aim of this study is to provide some information on frequencies of occurrence for units of Korean phonemes and syllables analysing spontaneous speech spoken by 3 to 8-year-old Korean children. 49 Korean Children(7${\sim}$10 children for each age) were employed as subjects for this study. Speech data were recorded and phonemically transcribed. 120 utterances for each child were selected for analysis except one child whose data were only 91 utterances. The data size of the present study were 5,971 utterances, 5,1554 syllables, and 105491 phonemes. Among 19 consonants, /n/ showed highest frequency rate of these four conson ants were over 50% for all age groups. Among 18 vowels, /a/ was the most frequent one and /i/ and / ${\wedge}$ were the second and third respectively. The frequency rate of these four consonants were over 50% for all age groups. Frequently occurring syllable types were a part of grammatical word in most cases. Only 5${\sim}$6% of syllable types covered 50% of speech.

In this paper, we suggested the diagnosis of the optical FSK transmitter output characteristics using the Micheloson interferometer. The transmitter is designed by the direct frequency modulation effect of a semoconductor laser diode. The optical FSK transmitter consists of a temperature stabilized semiconductor laser diode and an optimally designed equalizer. It is modulated by 100Mbit/s PRBS Generator to diagonosis of Optical FSK transmitter output characteristics. The Michelson Interferometer is used for the optical frequency discriminator which transforms the output frequency of the transmitter to the amplitude of light. The measurement of the performance of the transmitter to the amplitude of light. The measurement of the performance of the transmitter computer the transmitted data and their eye pattern with the simulation results, the received data and their eye pattern. As the result of experiment, the data transfer rate of the transmitters is 100Mbit/s.

Bonus-Malus system is generally constructed based on claim frequency and Bayesian credibility model is used to represent claim frequency distribution. However, there is a problem with traditionally used credibility model for the purpose of constructing bonus-malus system. In traditional Bonus-Malus system adopted credibility model, individual estimates of premium rates for insureds are determined based solely on the total number of claim frequency without considering when those claims occurred. In this paper, a new model which is a modification of structural time series model applicable to counting time series data are suggested. Based on the suggested model relatively higher premium rates are charged to insured with more claim records.
In this paper we introduce a nonparametric method for estimating the probability density function of detection distances in line transect sampling. The estimator is obtained using a frequency histogram density estimation method. The asymptotic properties of the proposed estimator are derived and compared with those of the kernel estimator under the assumption that the data collected satisfy the shoulder condition. We found that the asymptotic mean square error (AMSE) of the two estimators have about the same convergence rate. The formula for the optimal histogram bin width is derived which minimizes AMSE. Moreover, the performances of the corresponding k-nearest-neighbor estimators are studied through simulation techniques. In the absence of our knowledge whether the shoulder condition is valid or not a new semi-parametric model is suggested to fit the line transect data. The performances of the proposed two estimators are studied and compared with some existing nonparametric and semiparametric estimators using simulation techniques. The results demonstrate the superiority of the new estimators in most cases considered.
