  • Acoustic signal such as speech and scattered sound, are generally a nonstationary process whose frequency contents vary at any instant of time. For time-varying signal, whether a nonstationary or a deterministic transient signal, a traditional frequency domain representation does not reveal the contents of signal characteristics and may lead to erroneous results such as the loss of desired characteristics features or the mis-interpretation for a wrong conclusion. A time-frequency domain representation is needed to characterize such signatures. Pseudo Wigner-Ville distribution (PWVD) is ideally suited for portraying nonstationary signal time-frequency domain and carried out by adapting the fast Fourier transform algorithm. In this paper, the important properties of PWVD were investigated using both stationary and nonstationry signatures by numerical examples PWVD was applied to acoustic sigtnatures to demonstrate its application for time-ferquency domain analysis.

  • In the present computational approach, thermal buckling and frequency characteristics of a doubly curved laminated nanopanel with the aid of Two-Dimensional Generalized Differential Quadrature Method (2D-GDQM) and Nonlocal Strain Gradient Theory (NSGT) are investigated. Additionally, the temperature changes along the thickness direction nonlinearly. The novelty of the current study is in considering the effects of laminated composite and thermal in addition of size effect on frequency, thermal buckling, and dynamic deflections of the laminated nanopanel. The acquired numerical and analytical results are compared by each other to validate the results. The results demonstrate that some geometrical and physical parameters, have noticeable effects on the frequency and pre-thermal buckling behavior of the doubly curved open cylindrical laminated nanopanel. The favorable suggestion of this survey is that for designing the laminated nano-sized structure should pay special attention to size-dependent parameters because nonlocal and length scale parameters have an important role in the static and dynamic behaviors of the laminated nanopanel.

  • Several experiments were carried out to analyze the impact of the modernized Global Positioning System (GPS) L2C signal on pseudorange-based point positioning. Three dual-frequency positioning algorithms, ionosphere-free linear combination, ionospheric error estimation, and simple integration, were used, and the results were compared with those of Standard Point Positioning (SPP). An analysis was conducted to determine the characteristics of each dual-frequency positioning method, the impact of the magnitude of ionospheric error, and receiver grade. Ionosphere-free and ionospheric error estimation methods can provide improved positioning accuracy relative to SPP because they are able to significantly reduce the ionospheric error. However, this result was possible only when the ionospheric error reduction effect was greater than the disadvantage of these dual-frequency positioning algorithms such as the increment of multipath and noise, impact of uncertainty of unknown parameter estimation. The RMSE of the simple integration algorithm was larger than that of SPP, because of the remaining ionospheric error. Even though the receiver grade was different, similar results were observed.

  • This study investigates the flow characteristics of propane-air premixed flames on AC electric field using the Schlieren method. A voltage was applied to the ring electrode and the burner was grounded to form an electric field, and the applied voltage was fixed at 16 kV (Vpp). Results show that under the application of AC electric fields, flow around the flame oscillated only at frequencies below 50 Hz, and no oscillation was observed above this frequency range. Flame height oscillated with frequency in the range of 25 to 300 Hz, with frequency doubling observed in the range of 25 to 150 Hz. The flammability limit increased with frequency up to 250 Hz, but in the high-frequency range above 250 Hz, the flammability limit did not increased and converged.

  • The fast-growing market in wireless communications has led to the development of multi-standard mobile terminals. In this paper, a frequency-tunable active RC bandpass filter for multi-standards wireless communication system is designed using an active inductor. The conventional bandpass filter design methods employ the high order filter or high quality factor Q to improve the stopband attenuation characteristics and frequency selectivity of the passband. The proposed bandpass filter based on the high Q active inductor has an improved frequency characteristics. The center frequency and gain of the designed bandpass filter is tuned by employing the tuning circuit. We have performed the simulation using TSMC $0.18{\mu}m$ process parameter to analyze the characteristics of the designed active RC bandpass filter. The bandpass filter with Q=20.5 has 90MHz half power bandwidth at the center frequency of 1.86GHz. Moreover, the center frequency of the proposed bandpass filter can be tuned between 1.86~2.38GHz for the multi-standards wireless communication system using the capacitor of the tuning circuit.

  • In this paper the breakdown and dielectric characteristics of purified transformer oil dissolved with $SF_6$ Gas are investigated with a few decade MHz frequency voltage. The results are as follows. 1) High frequency current is a approximately proportional to the square root of high frequency voltage in purified transformer oil. 2) As frequency increase breakdown voltage decrease inversely proportional to the square root of frequency and the high frequency breakdown voltage is lower about 35 percentage than that of AC 3) The breakdown voltage of high frequency has a little increase with the pressure increase of dissolved $SF_6$, Air and Ar Gas. 4) As voltage freguency increases the value of the dielectric loss tangent has increased almost exponentially and the dielectric constant ($\varepsilon$) has tended to decrease with a slope[0.6% MHz]. 5) When dissolved with $SF_6$ Gas, oil electrical characteristics has more increased about 25% than in Air or Ar gas with high voltage frequency.

  • Due to detection and control errors, some high-frequency harmonics with voltage-source characteristics cause circulating currents in modular inverters. Moreover, the circulating currents are usually affected by the output filters (OF) of each module due to their filter and resonance properties. The interaction among the circulating currents in the modules increase the power loss and reduce system stability and control precision. Therefore, this paper reports the results of a study on the SPWM high-frequency harmonics circulating currents for a double-module VSI. In the paper, an analysis of the circulating-current circuits is briefly described. Next, a mathematic model of the single-module output voltage based on the carrier frequency of SPWM is built. On this basis, through mathematic modeling of high-frequency harmonic circulating currents, the formation mechanism and distribution characteristics of circular currents and their influences are studied in detail. Finally, the influences of the OF on the circulating currents are studied by mainly taking an LC-type filter as an example. A theoretical analysis and experimental results demonstrate some important characteristics. First, the carrier phase shifting of the SPWM for each module is the major cause of the SPWM harmonic circulating currents, and the circulating currents are in an odd distribution around n-times the carrier frequency $n{\omega}_s$, where n = 1, 2, 3, ${\ldots}$. Second, the harmonic circular currents do not flow into the parallel system. Third, the OF can effectively suppress the non-circulating part of the high-frequency harmonic currents but is ineffective for the circulation part, and actually reduces system stability.

  • The most attractive feature of semiconductor lasers as sources for coherent optical communication system is the ability to produce frequency modulation by modulation of the bias current. The frequency deviation of semiconductor lasers under direct modulation depends on the laser structure and modulation frequency. This paper describes a circuit modeling techniques for the directly frequency modulated CSP (Channeled Substrated Planner) semiconductor laser. Predictions from this model are compared with the other published results of sinusoidal frequency modulation below than 1 GHz.

  • In this paper, a capacitor multiplier with good frequency characteristics has been proposed. Effective capacitance of conventional capacitor multiplier decreases as frequency increases due to internal series resistance. On the other hand, the proposed capacitor multiplier using cascode structure has smaller internal resistance, thus shows good frequency characteristics. Conventional and proposed capacitor multiplier were fabricated using Samsung $0.13{\mu}m$ CMOS process and frequency characteristics of capacitor multipliers were measured using LPF. Measurement results show that the conventional capacitor multiplier has maximum 53% of capacitance error, however the proposed multiplier has less than 10% of capacitance error for the frequency change from 100kHz to 1MHz.
