  • In this paper, a dual-band circular ring monopole antenna with stub and ground slot for WLAN(Wireless Local Area Networks)/WiMAX(World interoperability for Microwave Access) applications. The proposed antenna is based on a planar monopole design, and composed of one circular ring of radiating patch, cross strip in circular ring, modified feed line, and two rectangular slot in the ground plane for triple-band operation. To obtain the optimized parameters, we used the simulator, Ansoft's High Frequency Structure Simulator(HFSS) and found the parameters that greatly effect antenna characteristics. Using the obtained parameters, the antenna is fabricated. The numerical and experiment results demonstrated that the proposed antenna satisfied the -10 dB impedance bandwidth requirement while simultaneously covering the WLAN and WiMAX bands. And characteristics of gain and radiation patterns are determined for WLAN/WiMAX application.

  • In this paper, we suggest a flexible multiband antenna which can be equipped on an inflatable life-jacket. The antenna can send distress alert and location data of survivors to assist rescue operation when crew or people are in distress. The antenna operate in three frequency bands such as VHF-DSC band (156MHz), COSPAS-SARSAT band (406MHz) and GPS band (1,575MHz). The GPS band is implemented with a square ring-slot planar antenna, the COSPAS-SARSAT band and the VHF-DSC band antenna is implemented by monopole type. In order to give flexibility of substrate to be equipped on life-jacket, FR4-epoxy substrate of thickness 0.2mm is used to make antenna. The reflection coefficients of the fabricated antenna are -8.8dB, -20.4dB and -10.7dB at each bandwidth like VHF-DSC, COSPAS-SARSAT and GPS band, respectively, when people are wearing life-jacket integrated multiband antenna.

  • The BAMS filter is a kind of wavelet shrinkage filter based on the Bayes estimators with no simulation, therefore it can be used for a real time filter. The denoising efficiency of BAMS filter is seriously affected by the estimated noise variance in each wavelet band. To remove noise in signals in existing BAMS filter, the noise variance is estimated by using the quartile of the finest level of details in the wavelet decomposition, and with this variance, the noise of the level is removed. In this paper, to remove the image noise includingodified quartile of the level of detail is proposed. And by these techniques, the image noises of mid and high frequency bands are removed, and the results showed that the increased PSNR of ab the midband noise, the noise variance estimation method using the monotonic transform and the mout 2[dB] and the effectiveness in denosing of low noise deviation images.

  • We use largely two methods, how to control the noise of the KTX, they are the passive noise control method and the active noise control method. The passive noise control has been used in a variety of ways since the KTX opening day, but lately it has shown the technical limitations by being dropped sharply. So, it is getting important to conduct the research about ANC that is able to reduce the ambient noise when the environmental-factor changes and be installed easily. To reduce a three-dimensional closed-space sound field like a car of a high-speed rail is hard to do using single channel ANC control system. Therefore we have to model the paths of the noise exactly for reducing the noise. And the control speakers and the error mics should be designed for optimal position. In this paper, we designed the transfer functions for modeling the noise paths under the influence of the distance between control speakers & error mics and primary noise speaker in TEST-BED where there is modeled as actual interior of KTX. We have made the modeling and the simulations of interior environment of KTX car by using three frequency bands of 120Hz, 280Hz, 360Hz. After the modeling, we compared the performance of active noise control and also we analyzed what to affect with difference in distance. After comparing of the performance using Pure Tone 120Hz, 280Hz, 360Hz at each modeling and then we simulated ANC for KTX's interior noise which we measured really and analyzed.

  • Because moire artifacts overlap with fine lesions and frequency bands, image processing software that removes moire artifacts can lead to loss of micro lesions. In this study, microscopic lesions such as microcalcification and microfracture were randomly formed on SD (Sprague Dawley) rats and image and optimized grid images were compared and analyzed using reference image and grid suppression software. The images were read by two consecutive radiologists using a McNemar's test. Among the 73 microcalcifications, in the 13 cases after grid suppression, the image of the optimized grid shows the loss of image in 3 cases, and the image after grid suppression shows statistically significant image loss (p=0.021). In all 53 fracture lines, there were 19 cases of image loss after the grid suppression, and only one case of the optimized grid showed no image loss. Therefore, the use of grid suppression software to remove moire artifacts should be carefully considered in the diagnosis of micro lesions.

  • A ground-based microwave scatterometer has an advantage for monitoring soil moisture content using multi-polarization, multi-frequencies and various incidence angles. In this paper, ground-based multi-frequency (L-, C-, and X-band) polarimetric scatterometer system capable of making observations every 10 min was used to monitor the soil moisture conditions in a corn field over an entire growth cycle. Measurements of volumetric soil moisture were obtained and their relationships to the backscatter observations were examined. Time series of soil moisture content was not corresponding with backscattering coefficient pattern over the whole growth stage, although it increased until early July (Day Of Year, DOY 160). We examined the relationship between the backscattering coefficients from each band and soil moisture content of the field. Backscattering coefficients for all bands were not correlated with soil moisture content when considered over the entire stage ($r{\leq}0.48$). However, L-band Horizontal transmit and Horizontal receive polarization (HH) had a good correlation with soil moisture ($r=0.85^{**}$) when LAI was lower than 2. Prediction equations for soil moisture were developed using the L-HH data. Relation between L-HH and soil moisture shows linear pattern and related with soil moisture content ($R^2=0.77$). Results from this study show that backscattering coefficients of microwave scatterometer appear to be effective to estimate soil moisture content in the field level.

  • In this paper, we present a content-based image retrieval method which is based on the feature extraction in the wavelet transform domain. In order to overcome the drawbacks of the feature vector making up methods which use the global wavelet coefficients in subbands, we utilize the energy value of wavelet coefficients, and the shape-based retrieval of objects is processed by moment which is invariant in translation, scaling, rotation of the objects The proposed methods reduce feature vector size, and make progress performance of classification retrieval which provides fast retrievals times. To offer the abilities of region-based image retrieval, we discussed the image segmentation method which can reduce the effect of an irregular light sources. The image segmentation method uses a region-merging, and candidate regions which are merged were selected by the energy values of high frequency bands in discrete wavelet transform. The region-based image retrieval is executed by using the segmented region information, and the images are retrieved by a color, texture, shape feature vector.

  • In the paper, a dual-bandpass filter for ship's wireless LAN has proposed, which was designed by using step stub in compliance with 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz band The dual-bandpass filter can be designed by adjusting the sizes of the step stub in compliance with the frequency bands of 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz, which has the improved performance compared with the existing dual-bandpass filter. Furthermore, dual-bandpass filter using step stub has better efficiency. The measured results for the fabricated dual-bandpass filters agreed well with the simulated ones, and hence it was confirmed that the proposed design method is valid.

  • WRC-03 was held between 9 June and 4 July 2003 in Geneva, Switzerland. Over 2,200 delegates from 138 ITU Member States attended the Conference. The delegates considered some 2,500 proposals, and over 900 numbered documents related to 50 agenda items. The final output of the Conference consists of 527 pages of new and revised text of the Radio Regulations. This paper provides some details about the outcome of the radio astronomy related issues at the WRC-03 Conference. It is divided into two part: a) Agenda item1.8.2 and b) Agenda item 1.32, related to radio astronomy. Relevant extracts from the Final Acts of WRC-03 are given in the Appendix. Agenda item 1.8.2 was one of the most controversial Agenda Items at WRC-03. Studies were carried out within ITU-R TG 1/7 for the last three years; the results of these studies are summarized in Recommendation ITU-R SM.1633. The Conference adopted a new footnote (5.347A), that calls for the application of Resolution 739 (WRC-03) in the 1452-1492 MHz, 1525-1559 MHz, 1613.8-1626.5 MHz, 2655-2670 MHz, 2670-2690 MHz and 21.4-22.0 GHz bands. Agenda item 1.32 is to consider technical and reglatory provisions concerning the band 37.5-43.5 GHz, in accordance with Resolutions 128 (Rev.WRC-2000) and 84 (WRC-2000). WRC-03 reviewed and adjusted the New footnotes 5.551H and 5.551I cover the protection of radio astronomy observations in the 42.5-43.5 GHz band from unwanted emissions by non-geostationary (5.551H) and geostationary (5.551I) FSS and BSS systems, respectively.

  • Bisumus has a low melting point, making it easier to handle. This allows us to test what type of effect diamagnetism has on electro static and magnetic field shields. However, the actual materials for experimentation have only ever been manufactured cylindrically, and so there have been no recorded cases of measurements to this effect. To understand what kind of effect pure bisumus as diamagnetism has on electro static and magnetic shields in comparison to other materials, bisumus, along with copper, aluminum and iron 스텐도, were used to make a cylinder each. These cylinders were then used to measure and compare the electro static shield and magnetic shield at different bands of frequencies, starting from a low frequency. As shown on the graph/chart/diagram, the best results were recorded for copper and bisumus as diamagnetism in an electro static field. In terms of magnetic shielding, iron provided the best results, as expected, whereas bisumus displayed minimal effect.
