  • In this paper, we propose the method to extract the important frequency bands from the EMG signal, and for generation of feature vector using the important frequency bands. The EMG signal is measured with 4 sensor and is recorded as 4 channel’s time series data. The same frequency bands from 4 channel’s frequency components are selected as the important frequency bands. The feature vector is calculated by the function formed using the combination of selected same important frequency bands. The EMG signals acquired from seven wrist motion type are recognized by changing into the feature vector formed. Then, the extraction and generation is performed by using the double combination of the genetic algorithm (GA) and the neural network (NN). Finally, in order to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, computer simulations are done.

  • Electronic warfare recently has became the core of modern warfare and the importance of communication survivability is being considerable day by day. In this paper, we propose an effective jamming avoidance algorithm aginst widely used jamming environment such as GPS jamming. In order to simulate to show our system performance, we consider IEEE 802.16 WiMAX protocol and partial band jamming envoriment. Proposed algorithm can improve channel capacity through subchannelization and we show channel capacity corresponding to subchannel parameter.

  • Nanotechnology has provided a set of tools that the engineers can use to design and manufacture integrated nano devices, which are capable of performing sensing, computing, data storing and actuation. One of the main hurdles for nano devices has been the amount of power that it can generate for transmission of data. In this paper, we proposed cooperative nano communication in the Terahertz (THz) Gap frequency band to increase the range of transmission. Outage probability (OP) performances for the proposed cooperative nano communication networks in the THz band (0.1 - 10THz) have been evaluated for the following scenarios; A) A single decode-and-forward (DF) relay over independent identically distributed (i.i.d.) Rayleigh fading channels, B) DF multi-relay network with best relay selection (BRS) over i.i.d. Rayleigh fading channels, and C) DF multi-relay network with multiple hops with BRS over i.i.d. Rayleigh fading channels. The results show that the transmission distance can be improved significantly by employing DF relays. Also, it is shown that by increasing the number of hops in a relay the OP performance is marginally degraded. The analytical results have been verified by Monte-Carlo simulation.

  • Measurement of the background radio noise is very important process being used in survey of radio noise environment, calculating the threshold level for the frequency occupancy measurement and so forth. First step of background radio noise measurement is to select the sample sub-band which is mostly dominated by the background white Gaussian noise (WGN) within the target band. The second step is to carry out the main measurement of radio noise on this selected sample sub-band for the representative value of the noise power. In this paper, a method for selection of sample sub-band for the effective background radio noise measurement using SVD is proposed under the assumption that background radio noise is WGN. The performance of the proposed method is compared with that of the APD method which is widely used for the same purpose. Simulation results are shown to demonstrate the high performance of the proposed method in comparison with the existing APD method.

  • The DTV (Digital TV) tuner for an 8-VSB (Vestigial Side-Band) modulation was developed to meet the requirements of the ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee). The double frequency conversion and the active tracking filter in the front-end were used to cancel interferences between adjacent channels and multi-channels by suppressing the IF beat and the Image frequency. However, It was impossible to get frequency mapping between the tracking filter and the first VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) in the existing DTV tuner structure which differs from the NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) tuner. This paper, therefore, suggests an assailable structure and a new method for the automatic frequency selection by mapping the frequency characteristics over the tracking voltage and the combined HW which is composed of a Micro-controller, an EEPROM (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory), a DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter), an OP amplifier, and a switch driver.

  • 3GPP LTE-Advanced (Release 10) system specifies carrier aggregation (CA) to enable high data rate on using multiple frequency bands, including the variout CA-specific deployment scenarios. Considering one of those scenarios in which the different directional sector antenna is employed by each frequency band, we propose a per-carrier cell selection scheme that can improve the average throughput of the cell-edge users by allowing each user equipment (UE) to select the frequency band of the adjacent cell. Furthermore, a distributed algorithm for inter-cell copperative scheduling in this scheme is proposed to support proportional fairness among the cells. It has been shown that the proposed scheduling algorithm for the per-carrier cell selection scheme improves the cell-edge user throughput roughly by 50% over that of the conventional scheme.

  • This study measured the radio environment of 10 domestic institutions with CubeSat ground stations for 24 hours in three frequency bands (VHF/UHF/S-band) allocated by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The impact of the RF environment around the ground stations on CubeSat downlink frequencies was analysed and compared with acceptable interference noise requirements from the CubeSat RF link. The findings indicate that not only the selection of downlink frequency but also the configuration of RF communication link design and ground station system of CubeSat should consider the S-band RF environment around the ground station due to the presence of several wireless devices.

  • A triple-band transceiver module for 2.3/2.5/3.5 GHz mobile WiMAX, IEEE 802.16e, applications is introduced. The suggested transceiver module consists of RFIC, reconfigurable/multi-resonance MIMO antenna, embedded PCB, mobile WiMAX base band, memory and channel selection front-end module. The RFIC is fabricated in $0.13{\mu}m$ RF CMOS process and has 3.5 dB noise figure(NF) of receiver and 1 dBm maximum power of transmitter with 68-pin QFN package, $8{\times}8\;mm^2$ area. The area reduction of transceiver module is achieved by using embedded PCB which decreases area by 9% of the area of transceiver module with normal PCB. The developed triple-band mobile WiMAX transceiver module is tested by performing radio conformance test(RCT) and measuring carrier to interference plus noise ratio (CINR) and received signal strength indication (RSSI) in each 2.3/2.5/3.5 GHz frequency.

  • Frequency transposition (FT) hearing system was designed for individuals with little or no residual hearing at high frequencies. This device compresses and shifts the wide-band, high frequency acoustic energy where important features for speech perception are concentrated to the audible, lower range of frequencies. The usefulness of the FT system was investigated for 12 patients (7 children and 5 adults) with severe-to-profound sensorineural hearing losses compared with conventional hearing aids. Results suggest that the hearing impaired can benefit from the FT system with appropriate selection criteria and auditory (re)habilitation program.

  • In this paper, ku-band RF transceiver system is designed for the unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) line-of-sight(LOS) datalink. The RF transceiver system is consisted of the transmitting and receiving unit, RF front-end unit, and high power amplification unit. The transmitting and receiving unit has the functions of frequency up/down converting and channel changing. The RF front-end unit has the functions of transmitting and receiving signal duplexing, antenna selection, small signal amplification, and frequency filtering excluding the receiving signal. The high power amplification unit has the functions of ku-band power amplification and transmitting power variation(High/Middle/Low/Mute). The frequency up/down converting of transmitting and receiving unit is designed by using the superheterodyne method. The RF transceiver system is designed to obtain the broadband and high linearity properties for the reliable transmission and reception of high data-rate and high speed data. Also, the channel changing function is designed to use selectively the frequency as the operation environment of UAV.
