  • The cost of domestic container transportation is higher than international sea transportation and it cannot meet the needs of customers either. However, domestic carriers try hardly nothing to improve the carriage system. Especially, the inland transportation connecting Busan port is not receiving a careful study in spite of the importance and urgency now. This paper reviews intention of forwarders, shipping companies, and transport companies conducting a questionnaire and analyse the preferences of transportation modes amongst existing highway, railway, coastal shipping and inland waterway. Its aim is to analyse which factors affect freight agents to choose particular mode.

  • Container Security Device (ConTracer) which is suggested in this study is to monitor temperature, humidity, and impact inside of the container while the container is transported. ConTracer could also give information to users when a door of the container is opened over 2 inch within 1 second. Additionally, GPS/GLONASS based global position and status information about container are transmitted to a remote server using IoT (Internet of Things) based communication. In this research, we are looking into the development trend of global container security devices; and applying ConTracer to real freight transport from domestic to overseas using Global Roaming Service which is offered for domestic Mobile Communication Companies as well. As a result, we estimate the performance of ConTracer and verify it.

Conceptual Models for Evaluation of Urban Logistics Improvement (도시물류 개선 대안 평가를 위한 개념적 모형 정립)

  • This study is concerned with theoretical aspects of urban logistics with the aim of revealing limitations of the literature, suggesting directions for further studies and developing a conceptual model for evaluating policy alternatives. Several limitations have been revealed and, based on these, the directions for further studies were suggested as more effort needs to be put on microscopic aspects of urban logistics ; and integrated conceptual evaluation models need to be developed. For the models it defined microscopic evaluation factors by the subject of urban logistics activities, and with these factors it established a conceptual model. Especially it introduced the simulation models developed recently to predict the route of freight vehicles and suggested how both microscopic and macroscopic aspects of urban logistics could be evaluated.

  • Due to the inefficient operation of the existing logistic facilities, the complicated distribution structure, and closed utilization of logistic information are causing high logistic costs. The general improvement in the distribution structure and the expansion of the logistic facilities are needed for solving these problems. However, existing unit-scale forecast is not considering the loading and unloading characteristics of the trucks and the improvement of operation efficiency from the mechanization and automation of the loading and unloading works. The queuing theory based on the status quo of the cargo trucks to the cargo terminals is considered in this study. The optimal scale estimation method(OSCM) which the loading and unloading characteristics of the cargo trucks were taken into consideration was suggested. Also, the relationship between the optimal scale of the cargo terminal and the mechanization, automation, and informationization of the present loading and unloading system was investigated. As a result, it showed that the regularity of the truck arrival and service times had less influence on the scale of the cargo terminal, but the improvement of the loading and unloading speeds and the service rate of the trucks did more influence on it.

  • 최근의 화물자동차파업사태 등으로 우리나라 물류체계의 경쟁력제고를 위한 여러 가지 논의가 진행되고 있다. 그 중에서도 환경친화적이며, 사회적 비용이 저렴한 철도화물의 수송분담율을 높여야 한다는 의견이 많이 나오고 있다. 우리나라 물류체계의 근본적인 문제점은 도로운송량의 증가보다 트럭의 공급과잉으로 트럭운송사업자의 수익은 매우 낮고, 철도, 해운 등 대량운송수단의 분담율이 낮아 전체적인 수송효율성이 낮은 것을 들 수 있다. 이러한 문제점의 해결은 트럭의 과잉공급을 억제하고, 제조업 물류비 중 46.5%를 점하고 있는 운송비용을 절감하는 것이 핵심적인 방안이라고 하겠다. 이에 본 논문에서는 철도화물의 활성화와 우리나라의 철도구조개혁의 성공적인 추진을 위해서 우리와 지형조건이 비슷하고, 1987년에 철도민영화를 시행하여 현재 16년이 경과한 일본철도화물의 현황을 분석하여, 현재까지의 문제점을 밝히고 또한 우리나라의 철도화물수송정책에 시사하는 바를 정리해 보았다. 1987년 민영화 이후 일본철도화물수송현황을 보면 영업거리, 화차대수를 포함한 수송능력 감소로 수송량은 감소하였으나, 화물수송의 장거리와 추세와 컨테이너수송량의 증가, 인력감축으로 영업성적은 전반적으로 향상되고 있다. 문제점으로는 경영면에서는 낮은 생산성 그리고 노후장비 등으로 인한 높은 설비투자비지출, 선로사용료 등의 부담 등이 지적되었다. 운영상에서는 현재 선로를 소유하지 못하여 네트워크가 부족하여 자유로운 열차편성이 어렵고, 포워더 기능이 없어 현재 전체물량의 85%를 점하는 소운송구간에서 다른 운송주체간의 수송으로 일관수송서비스에 어려움이 있으며, 직접적인 영업을 하지 못하여, 새로운 수요창출에 어려움이 있다. 이러한 문제점의 해결책으로는 먼저 정부의 인프라에 명확한 책임분담과 이에 따른 지원이 필요하다. 이와 같은 철도화물활성화의 정책수립필요성의 배경에는 철도화물수송이 효율성과 환경친화성, 높은 안전성 등 사회적 비용을 감소시키는 장점을 가지고 때문이다. 철도화물운송회사도 현재의 수송기능과 함께 포워더로서의 기능을 가져야 할 것이며, 운임인하노력과 속도향상을 위한 노력을 계속하여야 할 것이다.

  • Recently, the harbor function is being reconsidered with the viewpoint of logistics, and various efforts are given to enhance the harbor performance agglomerating all procedures of stevedoring, treatment and background transportation of freight. The harbor performance largely depends on the efficient combination of the engineering part of harbor construction and the forthcoming logistics part. It may thus be anticipated in the future that the design concept of harbor construction will be transferred to a comprehensive consideration integrating both engineering and logistics parts to maximize the ultimate harbor operational performance. In the present study, various indicators for assessing a modem container terminal performance are presented far the purpose of helping harbor engineers understand the fundamental logistics through container handling operations. The indicators are compared, analyzed and compiled, by referring to the practical cases of Busan and Gwangyang ports as an illustration.

  • Plate has cutout inner bottom and girder and Door etc. in hull construction absence is used much, and this is strength in case must be situated, but establish in region that high stress interacts sometimes fatally in region that there is no big problem usually by purpose of weight reduction, a person and freight movement, piping etc.. Because cutout‘s existence is positioning in this place, and, elastic bucking strength by load causes large effect in ultimate strength. Therefore, perforated plate elastic bucking strength and ultimate strength is one of important design criteria to decide structural elements size at early structure design step of a ship. Therefore, we need reasonable & reliable design formula for elastic bucking strength of the perforated plate. The author computed numerically ultimate strength change about several aspect ratios, cutout dimension, and plate thickness by using ANSYS Finite element analysis code based on finite element method in this paper.

  • Air shipment affords the quickest possible delivery of horticultural products. The price of air shipped horticultural products are relatively high as most of these products are perishable. Usually the temperature in the cargo compartment is not controlled during flight. Thus, special attention should be paid to procooling prior to shipment. The environmental condition during transportation of horticultural products is an essential parameter for maintaining the quality of perishable products. Commonly horticultural products were loaded by ULD(Unit Load Devices) as a container or pallet in the aircraft (except for small aircraft) . Therefore, inside temperature of the container and cargo compartment came into question. Scarce literature on the relationship between environmental condition and quality changes of horticultural products during air shipment can be found. By the stand point of keeping fresh quality, investigations on the actual condition of air shipments were carried out to improve the technique during the distribution process of fresh horticultural products. Temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, carbon dioxide, ethylene, impacts, and changes in quality during the air shipment of snapbeans, okras and chrysanthemums were measured. Temperature was measured by recording thermometers, relative humidity by recording hygrometers, atmospheric pressure by a strain -guage type pressure sensor, carbon dioxide by testing tubes, ethylene by sampling bags and a gaschromatograph, impacts and vibrations by impact recorders and a 3D accelerometer. Relationships between environmental conditions and quality changes during air shipments were clarified. It was expected from investigations into actual shipments that the ventilation and insulation properties of air freight containers were related to the quality of agricultural products. Aircraft can no directly load and unload trucks into them. The transshipment is inclined to cause shocks and vibrations, and to invite damages within a short time.

MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TOPSHELL IN THE JEJU COASTAL WATERS (제주도산 소라의 산지별 특성)

  • Morphological characteristics of the topshell, Turbo cornutus Solander were studied on the basis of shell growth and fatness from April 1978 to October 1979. The Sampled areas were coastal waters of Jeju City, Seongsanpo, Moseulpo and Seogwipo in Jeju. The average shell length of the topshell from Jeju City area was smaller than those of the other three areas, and also the spine number of the 1st row on the shell from Jeju City area was fewer than the others. Sex ratios from each areas represented about 1:1. The relationship between shell length and shell breadth showed regression line and the value of slope for the specimen from Seongsanpo was the lowest. The relationship between shell length and total weight showed exponential curve, and the value was the highest in the specimens from Moseulpo. The value of slope on the relationship between total weight and meat weight was the highest in those from Moseulpo and the lowest from Jeju City. The regression line of relationship between total weight and meat freight in those if Jeju City area showed significant difference from those of the other areas.

A Study on Efficient Rolling Stock HBD Monitoring Method Using EWMA Technique (EWMA 기법을 적용한 효율적 철도차량 차축온도검지 모니터링 방법 연구)

  • Railways are one of the safest and most important transportation systems in the world. On the other hand, due to the increasing complexity of the railway system and the running distance of rail vehicles, railway accidents occur continuously every year. In particular, in the case of high-speed trains and freight trains, if the function of the axle bearing is lost due to abnormal overheating of the axle box bearing, the load on the axle becomes uneven. Therefore, abnormal overheating in the train axle box bearings can cause serious accidents or derailments. For this purpose, a Hot Box Detector (HBD) was installed in the track side of a high speed line to detect abnormal overheating. This paper proposes an EWMA technique-based axle temperature monitoring method to detect abnormal overheating quickly and efficiently. A statistical design of the proposed method was also performed. The proposed method has better performance compared to the current method in the case of abnormal overheating and the performance is improved by approximately 170% at the maximum.
