  • In this paper, we proposed real time free-length monitoring systems interlocking with the spring free-length sorter which shows the state of production connected to the spring production device. This systems enable the administrator to check the quality or quantity of product and the defect rate, etc., in the remote place. The proposed systems are comprised of the wireless device interlocking with PLC device, the server program, and user GUI program. The wireless device transmits the received data from PLC device to server program using Wi-Fi. Server program represents the data from the wireless device on the screen and insert those data into database. User GUI program shows data stored in database and supports the function which converts the stored data in DB to excel file.

  • This paper presents experimental results on the residual bond-slip behavior of high strength concrete-filled square steel tube (HSCFST) after elevated temperatures. Three parameters were considered in this test: (a) temperature (i.e., $20^{\circ}C$, $200^{\circ}C$, $400^{\circ}C$, $600^{\circ}C$, $800^{\circ}C$); (b) concrete strength (i.e., C60, C70, C80); (c) anchorage length (i.e., 250 mm, 400 mm). A total of 17 HSCFST specimens were designed for push-out test after elevated temperatures. The load-slip curves at the loading end and free end were obtained, in addition, the distribution of steel tube strain and the bond stress along the anchorage length were analyzed. Test results show that the shape of load-slip curves at loading ends and free ends are similar. With the temperature constantly increasing, the bond strength of HSCFST increases first and then decreases; furthermore, the bond strength of HSCFCT proportionally increases with the anchoring length growing. Additionally, the higher the temperature is, the smaller and lower the bond damage develops. The energy dissipation capacity enhances with the concrete strength rasing, while, decreases with the temperature growing. What is more, the strain and stress of steel tubes are exponentially distributed, and decrease from the free end to loading end. According to experimental findings, constitutive formula of the bond slip of HSCFST experienced elevated temperatures is proposed, which fills well with test data.

  • The differential equations governing free vibrations of the elastic arches with unsymmetric axis are derived in Cartesian coordinates rather than in polar coordinates. in which the effect of rotatory inertia is included. Frequencies and mode shapes are computed numerically for parabolic arches with both clamped ends and both hinged ends. Comparisons of natural frequencies between this study and SAP 2000 are made to validate theories and numerical methods developed herein. The convergent efficiency is highly improved under the newly derived differential equations in Cartesian coordinates. The lowest four natural frequency parameters are reported, with and without the rotatory inertia, as functions of three non-dimensional system parameters the rise to chord length ratio. the span length to chord length ratio, and the slenderness ratio. Also typical mode shapes of vibrating arches are presented.

  • The need for reconstruction of large bone, soft tissue defect of mandible has greater emphasis due to development of industry, traumatic accident and increase of tumor. The mandibular reconstruction had greatly progressed through the first and the second World Wars. The Fibular free flap by using microscope was reported in 1970 and many maxillofacial reconstructive surgeons had used. In 1988, Dr. Hidalgo first reported mandibular reconstruction by using fibular free flap. Mandibular reconstruction by using fibular free flap has several advantages. First, it provides up to 25 cm of bone, enough to reconstruct any length of mandible defect. Second, a skin island, based on a septocutaneous blood supply, is available in a size large enough to simultaneously reconstruct internal and external soft tissue defect. Third, The fibular donor site morbidity is low, fourth, it provides a esthetic effect of mandible line. And finally bone viability is good. The Fibular osteocutaneous free flap was performed after COMMANDO operation due to squamous cell cancer in oral cavity (15 cases). Therefore we report out successful operation of the mandible reconstruction by using fibular osteocutaneous free flap.

  • An aqueous extract s of fresh ginseng roots was heated at loot for 64 hrs. and the changes of color intensity, pH and the amount of free sugars and amino acids during the various intervals of the heating time were investigated. Color intensity and absorbance of the solution at 490nm were increased in proportion to the length of the heating time. Most of brown pigments produced during the treatment were water soluble, and pH 5.1 at initial stage of the solution, was slightly decreased at the final stages of the reaction. Sucrose, glucose and fructose were major free sugars in ginseng roots, and the amounts of sucrose was over 90 % of total free sugars. Sucrose. was largely decreased approximately 50%, by 64 hrs of the treatment, whereas sharp increase in the amount of glucose and fructose was observed during the reaction in the solution. The observed increase in reducing sugars, glucose and fructose was presumed due to hydrolysis of sucrose. Evidently, glucose and fructose were not important factor to control the browning reaction of the solution. Most of free amino acids and peptides except alanine and isoleucine especially arginine, serine and threonine, were sharply decreased up to 40 : 50% of the original concentration within 2 hrs. Accordingly, the content of free amino acids and peptides seems to be extremely important factor to control the browning reaction in ginseng. A free amino acid, presumed to be nor-leucine, was found in fresh ginseng root on the basis of re mention on liquid chromatography. Kinetic analysis of the browning reaction indicated a pseudo second order with respect to amino acid concentration at the initial stage.

  • This paper proposes an optimal replacement policy following the expiration of a free renewing replacement-non-renewing minimal repair warranty. To do so, the free renewing replacement-non-renewing minimal repair warranty is defined and then the maintenance model following the expiration of free renewing replacement-non-renewing minimal repair warranty from the user's point of view is studied. As the criteria to determine the optimality of the maintenance policy, we consider the expected cost rate per unit time from the user's perspective. We derive the expressions for the expected cycle length and the expected total cost to obtain the expected cost rate per unit time. Finally, the numerical examples are presented for illustrative purposes.

  • The momentum transfer in axisymmetric turbulent boundary layer over a rotating cone submerged in a free stream was studied by experiments and numerical analysis. In numerical analysis the velocity profiles were calculated by finite difference method using Prandtl mixing length concept, and the results were compared with experimental results. The agreement was good. By the numerical analysis the wall fircition coefficient was increased as the Reynolds number increased when the rotational speed is large, but the wall friction coefficient was decreased as the rotational speed increased.

  • Based on Euler-Bernoulli beam theory and continuous element method, the free vibration of bi-dimensional functionally graded beams is investigated. It is assumed that the material properties vary exponentially along the beam thickness and length. The characteristic frequency equations of beams with different boundary conditions are obtained by transfer matrix method. The validity of the proposed method is assessed through comparison with available results. Parametric studies are carried out to analyze the influences of the gradient indexes and the beam slenderness ratio on the natural frequencies of bi-dimensional functionally graded beams.

  • Reconstruction of the maxilla is quite a difficult challenge for reconstructive surgeons. The maxilla is the most important part of the midface, which contributes to facial esthetics, mastication, swallowing, speech, supporting orbital contents and sinus function. Free fibular flap is most versatile to reconstruct jaw bone because of its adequate length, containing both soft and bony tissues and acceptance of dental implants. In this case report, a reconstruction of the maxilla using free fibular flap and dental implants is described in which rapid prototype was used before surgery to simulate the final prosthetic results.

  • A free-surface correction(FSC) method is presented to solve the 3-D shallow water equations. Using the mode splitting process, FSC method can simulate shallow water flows under the hydrostatic assumption. For the hydrostatic pressure calculation, the momentum equations are firstly discretized using a semi-implicit scheme over the vertical direction leading to the tri-diagonal matrix systems. A semi-implicit scheme has been adopted to reduce the numerical instability caused by relatively small vertical length scale compare to horizontal one. and, as the free surface correction step the final horizontal velocity fields are corrected after the final surface elevations are obtained. Finally, the vertical final velocity fields can be calculated from the continuity equation. The numerical model is applied to the calculation of the simulation of flow fields in a rectangular open channel with the tidal influence. The comparisons with the analytical solutions show overall good agreements between the numerical results and analytical solutions.
