Analysis of Indonesia's Digital Industry and the Case of Gojek

  • Indonesia's industrial application of digital technology is growing fast, especially in the application of mobile technology. About 1,700 digital startups are sprouting. PT Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa is one of those digital startups founded in 2010. This company is widely known, especially in Southeast Asia, for its products and services called 'Gojek' which was launched initially in 2015. Gojek began as a ride-hailing mobile-based application that later evolved into a Super App providing more than 20 different services in one single mobile application. After becoming Indonesian first unicorn company in 2016, Gojek now has become the first decacorn company in Indonesia, worth more than USD 10 billion since 2019. This paper aims to analyzes the technology industry in Indonesia and analyzes Gojek's background and history, its competitive status, and critical success factors. As a conclusion, we provide some advices for future development of Gojek in Indonesia and other countries in Southeast Asia's market. The advices include rebranding its overseas presence and the use of consistent brand identity across countries.

  • A company is a core of free market capitalism. It needs to be sustainable to make capitalism better. In this reason, a company has to be ethical to be longer, because unethical company can not be survival. It means that we should understand what is the ethical company and how to be. Because interdisciplinary exchanges give a hint to understand what and how from, so it was studied to find the academic theories which have a relationship with ethics or morality not only in the area of Business management, but also Psychology, Pedagogy, Ethics, Philosophy, and etc.. Making a visible structure by System Dynamics with results through interdisciplinary exchanges to understand the reason why unethical accidences are rising and damages are growing although companies pay "Ethics Pays" more and more to reduce immoral cases is the goal of this study. On the theory of "Social Ethics", 5 ways explain the reason why unethical behavior has not been demolished make a complex structure, which was founded from studying interdisciplinary exchanges such as "Ethics Pays", "Moral Reasoning", "Social Cost", and "Fallacy of Compositions". Finding the controllers and Factors of this model to control to be better, then the market could be more effective with lesser social cost.

  • Although more interests are displayed concerning the business opportunities over the technologies developed in government-funded research centers or the universities, overall business performance does not meet the level of investment. As a consequence, it is hotly debated about stock investment for research enterprise and venture founded on the technologies of the government-funded research centers and the need and the required measures for the foundation of technology holding company that provides incubation service. This paper attempts to identify the critical success points in the foundation and the operation of technology holding company by observing the cases of overseas public research centers and to provide the future guide.

  • The Arab Automotive Company was the first corporation in Saudi Arabia and was founded in 1928. Since then, the number of Saudi corporations had increased. In 1985, Tadawul (The Saudi Stock Exchange ) was instituted under the supervision of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) and the base value of the index was 1000. This decision came as a response to accelerated growth in the number of Saudi corporations which had increased during the 1970s as the Saudi's economy developed.

  • MPC is a specialized CRM company providing one-stop service through contact centers and has built a No. 1 "MPC Brand" in the industry. Founded in 1991, MPC has expanded into CRM solutions and services by launching businesses with database marketing. On Dec. 12, 2005, MPC became listed as the first company in the CRM industry on KOSDAQ. Now, MPC reserves 2,932 seats nationwide. MPC provides inbound/outbound services through various channels, such as phone and e-mail, and analyzes operating results in various aspects to improve services and make suggestions. MPC offers specialized training based on analyses of customers' requirements. Also, MPC develops essential solutions for customer consulting and management. In this case, we describe how MPC succeeded in the Korean market and identify its key success factors. Also, we discuss the issues faced by contact centers and suggest solutions.

A Study on the Effects of Characteristics of Female Corporate Founders on Managerial Achievements (창업 여성CEO의 특성이 경영성과에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • Although it is a limited and exploratory study, it is focused on figuring out correlations between characteristics of female CEOs who founded a company and their managerial achievements. Toward this end, the study is focused on generating such determinants as background characteristics, behavioral features and competence traits that characterize female CEOs based on previous studies and existing literature while suggesting study models and assumptions on correlations between these factors and managerial achievements and conducting empirical analyses. Results of the empirical analyses are as follows. First, regression analyses that verified relationships between background characteristics of female corporate founders and managerial achievements have found that major subjects had a significant effect, but that their experiences in corporate foundation and careers did not. Second, regression analyses that verified behavioral characteristics of female corporate CEOs and their managerial achievements have found that credibility and the motive for corporation foundation had a significant impact, but that efforts to counter risks factors did not. Third, regression analyses that verified relationships between competence features of female corporate CEOs and managerial achievements have found that managerial control capability had a significant impact, but that entrepreneurial capability and technical capability.

  • In recent years, with the development of IT technology and mobile communication, the powerful communication function of the Internet will gradually eliminate the information asymmetry between supply and demand, and the third-party review website emerges as The Times require. Dianping.com was founded in 2003. After a few years of development, it has become an independent third-party consumer review website worldwide. One of the reasons for such great success is corporate culture, which plays an important role in human resource management. The competition of enterprises is not only the competition of products and cost advantages, but also the superior enterprise culture presented to customers in the international environment. The competition between third-party review sites has been very fierce. In just a few years, many foreign third-party review websites went public and made profits, but some domestic start-ups went bankrupt due to the lack of a good business model and corporate culture. A good business model is particularly important. Taking dianping.com as the research object and combining with the business model of the company, this paper studies the unique corporate culture of dianping.com, hoping to help the company through the investigation and research of this paper, so as to improve the company in the future. And put forward a certain practical significance and value.

Evaluation on Low-floor Bus Package Layout from the Perspective of Universal Design

  • Objective: The aim of this study is to suggest a package layout guideline for low-floor bus by interview with passengers and observations of their behavior. Background: Increasing attention has been introduced the low-floor bus to be more suitable for use by transportation handicapped. Complex issues are involved in providing comfortable services to all people. We are going to suggest package layout guidelines for more comfortable and suitable travel to all people. Method: The two times of survey and video observation sessions were conducted on low-floor buses in Seoul; (1) a finding of potential issues in the first session, (2) a confirming of issues from the last session. Results: The three of major issues were founded in this study; (1) difficulties in supporting body when standing, (2) difficulties in sitting on front wheel pan seat, (3) difficulties in passing through the aisle. Conclusion: There were clear differences between public and transportation handicapped in using some tools which are used for support body such as roof hand rails, side hand rails, and hand rail rings. Some of design problems were founded to improve from the perspective of ergonomics and universal design. Such differences and design guidelines have to be considered in bus design as well as commercial vehicle. Application: The proposed design guidelines can be used to development of low-floor bus and other public transportations.

  • Kolao Holdings has a dominant market share in Lao Automotive market, wherever Japanese automotive makers have the biggest market share in other Southeast Asian countries. The company that was founded by a Korean in Laos has firstly listed on the Korean Stock Market among companies which Koreans founded abroad. Applying the model of Exploration and Exploitation by March(1991), this study is aiming at finding out what the management strategy leaded to Kolao's success in Laos. In addition, this study figured out the company's process innovation and cultural innovation. In result, it is summarized that the exploitation activities contributed to the entry to Lao market, the exploration activities to expanding market to neighboring countries, the process innovation to creation profits, and cultural innovation to sustainable growth.
